    Abstract: A device for draining an engine sump of the type having a threaded drain plug comprises a cup-like container having a flexible flange surrounding the open end thereof. The flange is provided with a gasket for forming a fluid tight seal between the sump and the container and with magnet means for adhering the container to the sump. A shaft carrying a socket on one end extends into the container and is sealably movable with respect thereto. Once the container is placed in position over a drain plug, the plug can be engaged and removed by manually turning a handle provided on the other end of the shaft. After removal of the plug, oil from the sump drains from a tube at the bottom of the container whereby contact with the oil by the service person is completely avoided.

    Abstract: A combination allen/socket wrench is disclosed of the variety having a spinoff design. This wrench has a handle, a pair of outwardly extending parallel support arms each have a respective end is integral with the handle. A bar is mounted between the arms and transverse axis. A plurality of members are rotatably mounted on the bar which extend therefrom radially of the transverse axis of the bar. Each of these members has the end portion thereof formed having a polygonal external configuration of a varying size to one another and each of these members also has a polygonal socket bore formed therein of a varying size to one another whereby a comination allen/socket wrench is provided. A resiliently-biased detent clamp means provides for selectively retaining each of the members against rotational movement. In this fashion during use of the desired wrench portion, the handle may be pivoted on an axis relative to said desired wrench portion.

    Abstract: This brake adjustment tool is for adjusting air brakes of automotive vehicles, and is a dual purpose tool that enables one man to properly adjust such brakes. Primarily, it consists of an elongated handle or main body having an opening for receiving a socket that is received on the adjustment screws of slack adjusters of air brakes, and a striker block is provided opposite the socket, for being struck by a hammer to free the usually seized locking collar on the adjustment screws. A channel grip member is also provided on the opposite end of the tool for receiving the slack adjuster to apply sufficient leverage to pull the slack adjuster to move the piston rod of the brake air cylinder, so as to enable the user to measure the stroke of the piston rod.

A removeable socket member is provided on a swivel device for use on awkwardly located adjustment screws and for use with interchangeable sockets. A coupling for the removable socket member is capable of itself engaging a socket-headed adjustment screw. Turning the adjustment screw with the socket changes of the phase of the arm on the shaft for producing a desired amount of backlash in the brake mechanism.

The shaft has a drill bit mounted in its front end so that rotation of the shaft causes rotation of the bit. The shaft is fitted in the bore of a sleeve or tube, the tube having a nut driver socket head at its front end. By advancing the tube on the shaft, complementary flats on the shaft and in the rear of the tube are mated to couple the shaft to the tube in a driving relation. The tube may be advanced to recess the drill bit within the tube to free the socket for use in a socket driving tool.

    Abstract: A combination tip wrench and stand which is particularly designed for use with a soldering or desoldering instrument, but having other uses. Basically the tip wrench is of generally U-shape, consisting of a top wall and two side walls, preferably of sheet metal. The instrument has a first, a second, and a third width of successively smaller dimensions, the largest width being at one end. The top wall extends only from the second width and is provided with a first U-shaped opening. The other end also has a second U-shaped opening in the top wall, thus forming a first, a second, and a third wrench. Near the third U-shaped opening is a portion normal to the top wall and the side walls and integral therewith and having a circular opening to extend, for example, a soldering tip therethrough, while its nut can be unscrewed by engagement with the side walls.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-purpose tool having particular, although not exclusive, use in conjunction with milling machines in which a drawbar is employed to engage and disengage a tool collet wherein the drawbar protrudes above the machine tool and is rotatable to release and secure the collet. The tool of the present invention combines a socket wrench for rotating the drawbar and a mallet for tapping the bar to free up the collet taper. The tool is dynamically balanced about the axis of the center of mass which is fitted to the protruding end of the drawbar. A handle is provided which is extendable to increase the torque or leverage available to the user and the handle itself is weighted to take advantage of centrifugal force to urge the handle towards its retracted position. A beveled pin or wedge device is also provided to inhibit the lowering of the drawbar with the tool still engaged with the protruding end.

    Abstract: The valve adjustment tool includes an elongated barrel having a bore therethrough. The upper portion of the barrel is provided with a tool land and a length of external threads. The lower end of the barrel is provided with an integral collet which forms a nut socket. The collet is surrounded by a compression collar. An elongated internally threaded sleeve overlays the barrel. The sleeve abuts the compression collar. When the sleeve is threaded downwardly on the barrel, the collar compresses the collet. When the sleeve is threaded upwardly on the barrel, the collar is free to move and the collet assumes its uncompressed state. An elongated valve adjuster driver is also provided. The driver is provided with a large disc shaped knob at its upper end and an engagement lug at its lower end. The driver normally reposes within the through-bore of the barrel and is rotatable therein and removable therefrom. The top of the disc shaped knob provides a landing for the foot of a dial indicator.

An adaptor having a tapered portion which is inserted in the chuck of a power tool, such as a rotary hammer, has a polygonal drive transmitting configuration on its other end. A longitudinal bore extending at least partially along the axis of the adaptor receives a drill bit. The bit and bore have mating external and internal tapers to insure driving engagement. Once the bit has drilled a hole in a workpiece, a drive collar is slipped onto the polygonal drive transmitting portion of the adaptor and the fastener-engaging recess thereof used to drive a self-tapping fastener into that hole.

    Abstract: A filter wrench includes a cylindrical housing with internal lugs and a centrally positioned punch for draining and removing a screw-on filter having an outer canister and an inner filter element. As the housing is impactively positioned over the filter, the punch successively punctures the outer canister and then the inner filter element before the lugs indent the outer canister and the bottom of the housing abuts the canister. With the punch extending through the punctures, the housing is held on the filter while the outer canister and the inner filter element are drained through passages in the punch and an outlet in the housing. When draining is complete, a formed nut on the outside of the housing allows the filter wrench to be rotated causing the lugs to rotate the filter for removal.
