  • Patent number: 10073955
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for tracking and guiding a patient's clinically directed medication usage. Medicaments are placed in secure passive packaging that must be unlocked to enable dispensing of a dose or a set of doses. This packaging is designed to be difficult to open manually, and instead is designed to dispense only when used in combination with a smart key. The smart key is a separate device containing electronics, mechatronics or both, to unlock and dispense from the packaging and to track and guide usage. Together, the secure container and the smart key track medication usage, trigger reminders in accordance with actual patient data, deter an excessive rate of patient usage, and deter unauthorized access to medication.

  • Patent number: 8220298
Abstract: A locking system for securely closing the lid on an enclosure, such as a grade level box, includes an L-bolt connected to a spring-biased slide member positioned on the underside of the lid. The L-bolt rotates in a slotted housing that securely retains the L-bolt under the lid. The slide member engages an abutment on the inside of the enclosure, when the lid is forced down over an opening in the enclosure, e.g., by foot pressure. Downward force on the lid progressively causes the latch to retract against the spring-bias from contact with the abutment and then snaps the latch into a spring-biased locking position under the abutment. The L-bolt is accessed from outside the lid, rotated by a proprietary socket wrench or similar tool, to retract the latch from its locking position sufficiently for removing the lid from the enclosure.

The invention utilizes a base member which is attached to a support post of the transmission selector lever. The base member includes provisions for holding loose coins and miscellaneous items. When the vehicle is left unattended, the locking mechanism utilizes a spherical cap which locks to the base member. With automatic transmissions the handle is locked together so as to conceal the handle and prevent access to the actuator button. When used in combination with a manual transmission, the cap engages the base of the transmission housing to prevent depression or movement of the selector handle. In this manner, the vehicle cannot be moved as the transmission is disabled. The spherical shaped cap inhibits cutting, tensile steel bands used on matching caps prevent the mechanism from being pried apart when locked.

A cap that is received on the end of the housing opposite the bolt, by a boss and counterbore arrangement, is rotatably retained by a roll pin. The cap includes a tapered bore that receives a threaded stud and locking lug assembly. The threaded stud is received by a locking lever that is nonrotatably retained within the housing. As the locking lug is tightened, the cap is secured to the housing to prevent access to the nut.

Abstract: An anti-theft device for attachment to a steering wheel of an automobile, has a continuous metal shield, having a shield body which is accurately shaped to completely cover the top surface of the steering wheel and a shield body's side apron which is accurately shaped to completely surround the outer periphery of the steering wheel. The metal shield is configured to encase an elongate rigid security rod in diametrically opposed hump housings located on the face of the shield body. A pair of opposing hooks engage the rim of the steering wheel when the elongate rigid security rod is telescopically extended. Hook flanges extending from the underside of the shield body's apron engage the two hooks. A keyed lock secures the device to the steering wheel. Access to the keyed lock is provided by an access opening in the center of the shield body.

Abstract: A steering wheel lock having a generally flat circular cover (1) which substantially totally covers the steering wheel (12) to prevent an authorised access to the wheel or turning of the wheel. The cover (1) includes a perimeter lip (2) to prevent side access to the wheel and to maintain the cover (1) overlapping about the wheel (12). One side of the open diametric face of the device includes a plate section (3), and the opposite side includes a removable diametrically reciprocable pin (7). The pin (7) is attached to a long rigid arm (4) which is lockable in a diametric position by lock (5) which is rigid with the cover (1). The bar (4) prevents substantial turning of the device by contacting surrounding vehicle structure and a spigot (13) prevents substantial turning of the wheel (12) relative to the device.

  • Patent number: 5214945
Abstract: A locking assembly used to deny access to a nut or to a bolt head to prevent theft of an article that is bolted to a body such as a vehicle. The locking assembly includes a retainer through which the bolt passes and that partially surrounds the nut or bolt head that secures the retainer to the body. The retainer includes a groove that extends circumferentially around it. The locking assembly also includes a housing that fits over the retainer and that is selectively engaged to the retainer by a ball bearing that is pushed into the groove on the retainer when a key turns the shaft of a lock which turns a cam that pushes the ball bearing into the groove. The locking assembly has an exceptionally low profile, made possible by positioning the lock perpendicular to the axis of the bolt. Further strength is imparted to the locking assembly by the fact that the retainer is almost as deep in the axial direction as the housing, and the strength of the retainer reinforces the housing.

The shaft is directed through openings in flanges fixedly and orthogonally mounted to a bottom surface of the lid, wherein the shaft is only projected into the container through the first end wall and the remaining end walls and side walls are arranged to confuse availability of the shaft.
