Abstract: A set of handcuffs having two wings connected by means of a hinge wherein the hinge sections are formed directly on the wing section walls and the handcuff locking mechanism operates as a hinge pin to hold the wing sections together and as a locking device. Each wing section comprises an arcuate bow portion and a shackle portion which pivots about a pivot pin holding the two sections together and which allows the shackle portion to swing through an arc of 360.degree.. A detent or pawl, cam operated and spring and pin biased, engages and disengages teeth formed on the shackle to alternately hold the shackle in place and allow it to swing open.

Abstract: An improved manacle comprising two wristlet casings connected by a hinge, a receiver secured in one of said casings to receive the control signal from a transmitter, and an electric discharger to produce an electric shock voltage characterizing in said control signal is received by the receiver and converted to control said discharger to produce a high voltage shock to the prisoner with the manacle through an electrode, and in said hinge connecting the casings comprises a channel through the hinge body and the T-shaped connectors for the lead wires connecting circuits in the wristlet casings to pass without damage.

Abstract: A restraining device having an elongated body portion and a pair of arms extending outwardly from the body portion. Each of the arms of such position on the body portion and of such length as to cooperate with one end of the body portion in establishing a closed loop. Locking means, which may be adjustable, are provided for resisting opening of the loop. The restraining device may be of unitary construction and may be molded as a unit from a material such as a resinous plastic.

Abstract: A strap is used as a connection between two cuffs or shackles for the ankles of a prisoner. The strap is of a length which permits the prisoner to take a normal walking stride. A strap rewind reel mounted to one of the shackles receives the strap thereon and winds and unwinds the strap as the distance between ankles decreases and increases during walking by the prisoner. An automatic lock on the reel prevents unwinding at a rate which would permit the prisoner to run.

Abstract: A hand restraining device is comprised of two closures permanently attached to each other. Each closure is provided for each hand of the person to be restrained. The individual closure is comprised of two spherical or annular sectors which are relatively rotatable. An aperture is located at the intersection of the two spherical or annular sectors in order that a wrist may traverse the closure. Each closure is of a sufficient volume to enclose a fist. Also, each closure is provided with means to secure the closure in a fixed position.
