Axially Movable Clutch Patents (Class 70/223)
  • Patent number: 4848112
Abstract: A lockable rotary attachment device including an axially threaded attachment member having an externally splined drive head and a flange defining oppositely facing annular shoulders, and a knob mounted for axial translation on the attachment member between first and second axial positions on the attachment member. The knob is freely rotatable relative to the attachment member in the first axial position and has an internally splined socket for non-rotatably receiving the drive head when in the second axial position. A lock is mounted on the knob for moving a latch member between a first latch position in which it is disposed outwardly of the flange on the attachment member to allow axial translation of the knob between the first and second axial positions, and a second latch position disposed radially inwardly of the flange for engagement with the first shoulder when the knob is in its first axial position and for engagement with the second shoulder when the knob is in its second axial position.

  • Patent number: 4703636
Abstract: A center locking device of intermediary plate type for a disc wheel of motor vehicle. The device has a cap nut screwed onto a threaded section of a flange fixed to the axle of the disc wheel. The disc wheel is clamped between the cap nut and the flange. A locking device is provided to lock the cap nut to the threaded section of the flange for preventing the disc wheel from becoming loose and/or theft of the disc wheel.

  • Patent number: 4660395
Abstract: A door lock includes a latch bolt assembly, and two rotary knobs connected to the latch bolt assembly. A press key is incorporated in one of the handle members and a key-operated lock is incorporated into the other knob. A clutch member is employed to connect and disconnect the latch bolt assembly to and from an actuating member which can engage with and disengage from a locking plate of the lock. The actuating member disengages from the clutch member and engages with the locking plate when the press key is depressed. When the lock is operated by a key, the actuating member is released from the locking plate and engages again with the clutch member.

  • Patent number: 4637649
Abstract: A latch mechanism for fastening a hatch panel in an automobile roof opening. The mechanism includes latch pins which extend and retract into and out of engagement with the roof structure to respectively fasten and release the hatch panel. An operator handle can be controlled by a key mechanism to function in either a locked mode or an unlocked mode. In the unlocked mode, movement of the handle to an open position retracts the latch pins, and movement to a closed position extends the pins. In the locked mode, the handle and latch pins are decoupled except upon the first occurrence of the handle being moved to its closed position so as to assure fastening of the hatch panel at all times after the handle is first moved to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4631944
Abstract: The doorlatch may have an exterior free knob rotation which is in the knob collar and is tied through cam means for non-engagement or engagement to drive the latch bolt. If the doorlatch has an exterior key operated lock, the cam means may be shifted by that lock for driving the latch. The cam means may also be shifted by an interior control, such as a turn button of an interior knob. Various combinations of exterior knobs with or without key locks and interior knobs may be provided, including the freely rotatable mechanism as desired. The front end loading may include a cylinder with plug assembly for the doorlatch which may have the plug rotated 180 degrees out of phase with the cylinder, the assembly then inserted and the plug rotated back to normal. A flange is provided beyond the lock cylinder on the plug which engages behind an inward depression for controlling the proper rotation during and after assembly.

  • Patent number: 4628714
Abstract: Disclosed is a vehicle wheel lock which includes a spindle having an axial passage therein. A hub is rotatably mounted on the spindle and has formed therein an internal socket. A locking member is nonrotatably but axially moveably mounted on the spindle. The locking member is configured to nonrotatably engage the socket of the hub and is moveable from an unlocked position out of engagement with the socket to a locked position in engagement with the socket. A spring is provided for urging the locking member toward the locked position. A lock assembly is provided for moving the locking member toward the unlocked position. The lock assembly includes a key operable lock which includes a lock body and a rotating member that is key operable to rotate with respect to the lock body. A first screw threaded member is connected to the rotating member of the lock and a second screw threaded member is threadedly engaged with the first screw threaded member.

  • Patent number: 4448050
Abstract: A key operated lock having a handle member slidably and rotatably operating within a rose member secured in a door, the rose having a bore therethrough in which a lock cylinder is rotatably mounted but restrained against axial displacement and has an axially displaceable and rotatably mounted latch actuator operably engageable with the handle by a key insertable into the handle transversely to the rotational axis. The lock cylinder has fixed wards extending toward the handle and key member which in the proper position of the key are in alignment with holes in the key which permit interlocking of the handle via the key with the lock cylinder for simultaneous rotation.

  • Patent number: 4177657
Abstract: An electronic lock system senses codes on a key by means of opto-electronic, magnetic or other electrical means and compares the key code to a code stored internally in a memory. When the key code is equal to its respective stored code the lock activates an electrical clutch operated bolt, and may also change the internal code to a new code. This invention relates to electronic locks, and is more particularly directed to the provision of an electronic lock which can be operated by a key having a code in the form of an electric parameter or optical parameter thereon.

  • Patent number: 4047408
Abstract: A single cylinder deadbolt lock with a thumbturn includes a slidable pair of gear elements normally engaging the thumbturn with the cylinder whereby either one will operate the bolt. One such gear element is provided on a hub rotatable with the locking bar shaft, while the other gear element comprises part of the thumbturn mechanism. A rotatable sleeve coaxial with the locking bar shaft is also normally disposed in meshing engagement with the aforementioned hub but is restrained from axial movement. Axial movement together with rotation of the lock cylinder, e.g., for locking the mechanism, moves the hub and the sleeve out of meshing engagement, causing the hub and thumbturn to be held out of meshing engagement for disabling the thumbturn until the cylinder is again rotated.
