  • Patent number: 11286689
Abstract: Apparatus for retaining a key on a door handle or lever. The apparatus includes two arms each with a head portion and a bottom portion having a shackle prong extending in a direction away from the head portion. The arms have an open state in which the head portions are at least partly separated from one another, and a closed state defining an aperture therebetween. A key box has a compartment for containing the key, and receptacles that receive the shackle prongs when the arms are in the closed state. The key box transitions from a closed state in which the shackle prongs are locked in the receptacles to an open state in which the shackle prongs are out of the receptacles upon entry of a shackle release code. The key box enables access to the compartment upon receiving an access code different than the shackle release code.

  • Patent number: 9267312
Abstract: A resettable combination lock mechanism includes a plurality of outer lock dials and a plurality of inner lock dials. The rotation of a reset feature changes the relative axial position between the outer lock dials and the inner lock dials, allowing the combination of the lock mechanism to be reset. In one aspect, the outer lock dials are axially displaced upon rotation of the reset feature, exposing a visual indicator that is configured to indicate whether the lock is in a combination reset mode or is in a normal mode. The reset mode allows the combination to be changed. The normal mode allows the lock mechanism to be locked or unlocked to secure or release a desired item. In another aspect, the rotation of the reset feature rotates a visual indicator into alignment with a window to indicate that the lock is the reset mode or the normal mode.

These words are supplied as a list and the tumbler positions are created from that list. The resultant lock would be commercially viable, as it will use existing, standard lock mechanisms comprised of tumbler rings with ten positions (0-9) and two, three, or four tumblers. The letters that appear in each of the ten positions have been selected through the described process. Having been selected, each lock is capable of being set to one of several thousand actual word combinations.

  • Patent number: 5850751
Abstract: An actuating mechanism includes a receiving base defining a channel and having a first end portion and a second end portion formed with a cylinder defining a lock hole communicating with the channel, and a retaining post extending from the cylinder. A shackle includes a first end portion and a second end portion defining a lock cavity communicating with the lock hole. A locking member is slidably mounted in the channel and includes a first end portion and a second end portion formed with a locking hook detachably received in the lock cavity. A drive shaft extends through a rotary ring module and includes a first end portion and a second end portion fixedly engaged with the locking member such that the locking member can be moved with the drive shaft synchronously. A circular piece is slidably mounted on the retaining post and is formed with a side extension abutting on the second end portion of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5787736
Abstract: A resettable combination coded U-shackle lock assembly includes a cross bar lock body and a U-shaped shackle with its legs removably locked to the lock body. The lock body is disposed with a resettable combination coded locking module, a locking plate, a triggering button, and a locking plate spring. The locking plate, through its locking holes, engages the locking pins of the shackle by the biasing force exerted by the locking plate spring and disengages when the triggering button disposed on the other end of the locking plate is depressed to overcome the biasing force and causing the locking plate to move axially to release engagement with the locking pins. When the combination code is coded in locking combination, the axial movement of the locking plate is blocked by the stopping plate of the locking module and the lock is in "locked" status.
