  • Patent number: 9612589
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system, method, and computer program for conditioning a building environment based on occupancy estimates. In one embodiment, the method includes tracking the user's entries to and exits from the building on a mobile device associated with the user for each of a plurality of users. Entry and exit event data from the users' mobile devices are used to estimate occupancy of the building. The conditioning of the building environment is adjusted in accordance with changes in occupancy estimates. In certain embodiments, where the building has a plurality of zones, each entry and exit event may be correlated with one of the plurality of zones. Occupancy is estimated within each zone using the zone-correlated entry and exit events. Alternately, users' locations within the building may be estimated using an indoor localization technique. Each zone is then conditioned in accordance with the occupancy of the zone.

  • Patent number: 9366701
Abstract: A bidirectional voltage differentiator circuit comprises start-up circuitry, sensing circuitry, and output circuitry coupled to logic circuitry. The start-up circuitry acts to start-up the sensing circuitry when the circuit is powered on, and accelerates the response of the sensing circuitry thereafter. The sensing circuitry senses variation in an input voltage applied to an input node. Responsive to the voltage variation sensed by the sensing circuitry, the output circuitry produces a state change at a first or second output node. The logic circuitry receives the states of the output nodes and produces a logic output signal to indicate the occurrence of the variation sensed in the input voltage. The voltage sensing circuit is operable to sense variation of the input voltage regardless of whether the voltage is rising or falling and without regard to the DC value of the input voltage.

Abstract: A method for operating, monitoring and/or configuring an automation system of a technical plant from a remote device may include a control software ensuring that the software processes of an operating and monitoring software and/or a configuration software relevant for a communication via a public network are terminated. After setting up a secure communication link from the device to the automation system via the public network, an endpoint of the communication link in the remote device is assigned a network address and the software processes of the operating and monitoring software and/or configuration software relevant for a communication via the public network are started. The data packets sent by the operating and monitoring software and/or configuration software for operating, monitoring and/or configuring the automation system are diverted to the network address by the control software.

Abstract: A device, such as a HART multiplexer, may allow access to one or more HART instruments from a single interface. The device may also support access to the HART instruments from a second interface. Requests for reading or writing data to or from a HART instrument may be combined at the device into a set of HART commands that may be more efficient than the HART commands that would be sent if each request was processed independently.

Abstract: A system for defining information for multi-option devices connected to an industrial network is disclosed. Each device has a single electronic data sheet (EDS) defining options associated with the device as well as each of the choices associated with those options. An option data sheet (ODS) is included for each option defining the device information corresponding to that option. A programmer interface may allow a programmer to select devices as well as the options for each of those devices associated with a control system. Each device is also configured to store the EDS and each ODS corresponding to that device within memory in the device. The programmer interface generates a controller configuration file defining the connections between each device and the controller.
