Abstract: An electronic apparatus controls a single or a plurality of objects. The electronic apparatus, which serves as a node, has an attribute information database that stores attribute information of object service modules. A service registry switches off a power supply after transmitting the attribute information stored in the attribute information database to the service registry of another electronic apparatus and delegating it to respond to queries concerning the attribute information provided from an external source. This enables the electronic apparatus to reduce power consumption while maintaining a searching capability.

Abstract: A system monitors and controls external utilities interacting with a site to mitigate hazards during disaster or other emergency situations. Upon the occurrence of a disaster or other emergency event, the system disconnects the external utilities from the site to drive the site into a simplified safe state. With the site thus stabilized, the system then carefully attempts to reconnect any utility that does not threaten the site.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing or disrupting passage of power in electrical appliances includes a portable wireless remote control device and a device in the form of an electronic circuit contained within one particular electrical appliance that is adapted for allowing or disrupting passage of power in the electrical appliance based upon wireless signals received from the wireless remote control device. The electrical appliance may be any of a variety of electrical appliance, such as a television, a video cassette recorder, a computer, a washer, a dryer, and the like. The wireless remote control device includes a housing. The housing includes mounted therein a display, thirteen input keys each representing two letters of the alphabet, and ten input keys respectively representing the numbers zero through nine. The housing also includes a DELETE input key, an ENTER input key, a left cursor input key, a right cursor input key, a down cursor input key, and an up cursor input key.

Abstract: A portable electronic device embodying the present invention comprises a USB connector, an internal power source, a USB controller to execute data communication processing for data communication with a personal computer connected to the USB connector, a main CPU to execute device operation processing for usual operation of the device. When USB controller executes data communication processing, the device is supplied with power at high voltage from the personal computer through the USB connector. When the main CPU executes device operation processing, the device is supplied with power at low voltage from the internal power source.

Abstract: According to the power shutoff method for the TCP/IP network device, the connection status of the terminal connected to the TCP/IP network is monitored, whether the power can be shut off or not is judged based on the result of the monitoring, and the power for the terminal is shut off when it is judged acceptable to shut off the power in the judgment step.

Abstract: A control system comprises a utility power line; a first meter, a first generator, a second meter and a programmable logic controller. The utility power line provides power. The first meter is positioned to measure power provided by a utility company via the utility power line. The first generator generates additional power. The second meter is positioned to measure power generated by the first generator. The programmable logic controller is in communication with the first meter and the second meter to receive input information. The programmable logic controller is also in communication with the first generator to selectively control the first generator in response to the input information. The programmable logic controller controls the first generator to keep power provided by the utility company via the utility power line below a first amount at a first time.

Abstract: A logic controller apparatus for solving ladder logic includes first memory locations for storing representations of the ladder logic and second memory locations for storing a plurality of input and output digital logic signals. A processor employs at least some of the digital logic signals for solving the representations of the ladder logic. A representation of ladder logic power flowing from a power rail to a neutral rail flows in a forward direction from a first port to a second port of at least one of a plurality of ladder functional devices, such as contacts. The contacts are organized in a plurality of rows which include at least one of the contacts. The ladder logic power representation also flows in a reverse direction from the second port to the first port of at least another one of the functional devices.
