  • Patent number: 10235818
Abstract: A controller includes a processor programmed to determine, for a vehicle, a first control input based on input data and first reference parameters. The processor is further programmed to operate the vehicle according to the first control input. Based on operating data of the vehicle for an operating condition, the processor determines a second control input for the vehicle. Operating the vehicle according to the second control input reduces a cost of operating the vehicle relative to operating the vehicle according to the first control input. The processor is further programmed to determine, based on the second control input, second reference parameters. The controller generates a third control input based on the second reference parameters and the input data. A cost of operating the vehicle according to the third control input is reduced relative to the cost of operating the vehicle based on the first control input.

The image processing apparatus includes a user operation data retaining section for retaining user operation data in which contents of user's operation performed by a user is recorded, an input section having a help key for instructing start of execution of an online support function, and a support data retaining section for retaining information about a support connecting destination to be connected in the online support. When recognizing pressing of the help key, the image processing apparatus refers to the user operation data so as to gain at least a part of the contents of the operation performed until a time point of the pressing, selects the support connecting destination according to the gained user operation contents with reference to the support data retaining section so as to request connection of communication with the selected support connecting destination.

Abstract: A technology is provided that easily acquires the location where an article is placed and then moves to that location, even in cases where the article was originally placed in a location shielded from GPS radio wave, and subsequently moved to another location. Marks and RFID tags are affixed to a movable tray. A transfer robot includes a camera, a reader, and a sensor. The transfer robot detects the tray location from the location of a region in an image photographed by the camera that matches mark information. Furthermore, the reader in the transfer robot detects the tray location from the intensity of a radio wave whose information, when read, matches an ID retained in the RFID tag. The transfer robot moves with the camera and the reader, detecting the tray that is the target destination.

  • Patent number: 8111676
Abstract: In a network comprising a wireless device, a first access point (AP) and a plurality of neighbor APs, a method is provided for reducing the chances of packet loss when the wireless device roams from the first AP to one of the neighbor APs. For example, when the first AP is transmitting a particular packet of a packet stream from to the wireless device, the wireless device begins to move away from the first AP toward at least one of the neighbor APs. The first AP maintains an acknowledgement counter for the particular packet which counts a number of times the particular packet has been transmitted by the first AP without receiving an acknowledgement (ACK) message from the wireless device confirming successful reception of the particular packet from the first AP. The first AP determines whether an ACK message was received for the particular packet, and if not, the first AP determines whether the number of times the particular packet has been sent is equal to a particular number of attempts.

Abstract: A tracing-result optimization processing unit generates an optimized tracing result. A tracing-result collation processing unit collates the optimized tracing result and a time chart as a basis of a sequence processing for an external apparatus and detects shift of the optimized tracing result. A tracing-result storing unit accumulates and stores therein a tracing result obtained by a programmable logic controller at predetermined time intervals. Every time the tracing result is stored in the tracing-result storing unit, the tracing-result optimization processing unit generates the optimized tracing result.

Abstract: A metering system configured to couple to multiple specialty systems, such as a control system. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are processing units comprising a processor, a memory coupled to the processor, and a communication port configured to coupled to a backbone communication network of a control system. The memory stores a program that causes the processor to selectively participate (over the communication port) as a processing unit of a control system of a first manufacturer (the control system implements a first proprietary communication protocol between processing units), and to participate (over the communication port) as a processing unit of a control system of a second manufacturer different than the first manufacturer (the control system of the second manufacturer implements a second proprietary communication protocol between the processing units).

  • Patent number: 8019445
Abstract: An energy optimization method and control apparatus may be used in a single building or a group of buildings to optimize utility-supplied and renewable sources in order to minimize the total energy cost. Simultaneously, it may also produce and store energy, such as electricity or hydrogen, that can be used to fuel vehicles, provide a means for independent production of household energy needs, or both. Various factors, such as the production of thermal energy and electricity from the renewable sources, the current store of stored energy, the current and expected thermal and electricity requirements of the building (based on a profile), the current and expected electricity loads of the equipment used to process stored energy, the expected thermal and electricity generating capacity of the renewable sources and other factors can be used to determine the mix of renewable-based and utility-based energy that minimizes the total energy cost.

  • Patent number: 7970393
Abstract: An application development system comprises a test-enable authority configured to store test-enable software for a plurality of mobile communication devices. In order to develop new applications, e.g. BREW applications, for a mobile communication device, the mobile communication device should be “test-enabled.” Mobile communication devices can be test-enabled using test-enable software that can, for example, be downloaded from the test-enable authority by a software developer. In one aspect, the test-enable software can install on the developer's computer, run a predetermined number of times and then uninstall. This allows communication device manufacturers to control the number of test-enabled communication devices in the market. In addition, this can save time, money, and effort for communication device manufacturers as well as developers.
