  • Patent number: 8606380
Abstract: Disclosed is a trade evaluator for evaluating trades based on statistics of players to be traded, statistics of other players on each fantasy team, and settings of a fantasy league. A computer receives a request to analyze a trade of one or more players for one or more other players. The computer determines league settings and player statistics. For each player on the teams, the computer determines a position in a roster. The computer determines a highest value player for each position. If there is only one slot that can hold the highest ranked player still available to place, the computer fills the slot with that player. If there are multiple slots left, and each of those slots can also hold other player positions, the computer places the player in a slot with a lowest opportunity cost. The computer determines a point total for the teams with and without execution of the trade.

  • Publication number: 20130310201
Abstract: An apparatus and method using the apparatus to simulate a golf game using a driving range and a putting green. A course card having a pictorial schematic representation of a hole of a golf course is used to plan and record strokes made at the driving range. The golfer estimates the distance and direction from the marked position on the course card to the cup, chooses a club, and then drives a ball in a desired direction and with a selected force towards the green and cup. Each stroke taken by the golfer is recorded on the course card and marks the landing location of the ball from the stroke on the course card. This process continues until the golfer deems that his/her ball would be on the green of the hole being simulated. The hole may then be putted at a putting green.

Promotional incentives from such entities for the products (and related products) can then be directly targeted and provided to participants and other members of the public. The participant's activities can also be collected and disseminated to affiliates/friends of the participants through social networking sites, personalized web pages, etc.

Abstract: A system assists in user interface generation by using scoring and providing viable component options to a developer. The system receives a new user interface that comprises a plurality of components and compares the new user interface against a plurality of repository benchmark user interfaces. The system then determines a score for the new user interface and at least one of the benchmark user interfaces. The score measures a level of deviation between the new user interface and the at least one benchmark user interface.

Abstract: Methods for establishing a location-based leaderboard by a computer game system are disclosed. The world may be partitioned into a set of regions and sub-regions by the computer game system using a hierarchical spatial data structure, wherein the regions and sub-regions are arranged according to a hierarchy, each sub-region being encompassed by a higher-level sub-region or region, and two or more highest-level sub-regions being encompassed by a region. A location of a user of the computer game system along with one or more statistics associated with the user may be assigned to a smallest sub-region created by the hierarchical spatial data structure. A rank of the user may then be determined within a region or sub-region encompassing the smallest sub-region to which the user's location was assigned, wherein the rank is determined using the one or more statistics associated with the user. One or more users may then be notified of the rank.

Abstract: The methods and systems described herein provide for effective and efficient completion of tasks by users of a computing device. Specifically, the present invention provides users with a proprietary workflow for timing the completion of a task by a user and scoring a user's ability to complete a task within a predetermined length of time. One exemplary embodiment provides for managing electronic messages by scoring their ability to apply actions to messages. Incentives are provided to users to encourage users to apply actions to messages through positive and negative feedback. Scores determined for any particular user may be determined based on the elapsed time between being provided with a message and applying an action to it, or may be determined based on the contents of a message.

Abstract: A game engine is configured to accept human intelligence tasks as in-game content and present the in-game content to the game player. Human intelligence tasks, such as visual discrimination, are thus enabled in a video game context. The game engine may receive a definition of human intelligence tasks from one or more remote sources present the human intelligence tasks to multiple video game participants as in-game content. The game engine defines and enables game play rules for the in-game content. The game play rules set parameters for the multiple video game participants to perform the human intelligence tasks to achieve desired results. The game engine may award each of the multiple video game participants an improved game score upon successful performance of the human intelligence tasks in accordance with the game play rules. The game engine may measure success by consistency in responses between different participants or trials.

Abstract: Exploration outside of a person's normal area may be detected and rewarded. In one example, a game (or other type of application) may be built around such exploration. A device carried by a user (pursuant to appropriate permission obtained from the user) may report the user's location to a presence detector. The presence detector may use this information to build a heat map, indicating the user's areas of common presence. When the location information received from the device indicates that the user has ventured outside of the user's area of common presence, this exploration event may be rewarded with an increase in the user's score. The user's score may be published on social media.
