Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for navigation. In at least one embodiment, the method includes connecting a navigation device to a server via a modem connection; receiving information from the server; determining whether or not criteria will be met for disconnecting the modem connection; and connecting the navigation device to the server via an alternative connection upon determining that criteria will be met for disconnecting the modem connection.
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for utilizing a communication channel of a mobile device by a vehicular assembly. In operation, a vehicular assembly communicates with a mobile device having a wireless communication channel. Additionally, at least one vehicular assembly function is performed utilizing the wireless communication channel of the mobile device.
Abstract: A method of adaptive generating of navigation instructions on a mobile client terminal. The method comprises acquiring, using a mobile client terminal, at least one path passing via a plurality of points of interest and guided tour information pertaining to a tour along the at least one path, monitoring a power availability and a current location of the mobile client terminal, presenting navigation instructions to a user of the mobile client terminal according to the current location in relation to the at least one path, presenting the guided tour information to the user according to the current location, and updating at least one of the navigation instructions and a presentation of the guided tour information according to the power availability.
Abstract: A method applied to a mobile device having a GPS receiver having access to a network interface is disclosed. When transmitting via the network interface a first command to edit a user location information on the network interface based on a first geo-information from the GPS receiver to update location information displayed on a website, a destination list stored in the mobile device is updated with transmission destination network address and current GPS receiver location information. Stored location information is periodically compared to current GPS receiver locations and when determined that the GPS receiver has moved at least a predetermined distance from the location stored in the destination list, the method transmits via the network interface a second command to edit a user location information on the network interface based on a second geo-information from the GPS receiver to the website to update or invalidate displayed location information.

Abstract: A navigation method includes receiving a positioning signal, displaying a navigation map corresponding to the positioning signal, receiving a plurality of activity information with latitude and longitude, providing an information preference menu, and displaying an activity icon of corresponding activity information on a corresponding activity location of the navigation map according to the setting of the information preference menu and the latitude and longitude.
Abstract: A navigation device presenting guide information based on a photographed image of a boarding guide display item, such as a station name signboard, a roll sign, or a route map, that can be photographed in a station yard. The device acquires a photographed image of a boarding guide display item by controlling the photographing unit, identifies display content from the photographed image of the boarding guide display item of a transportation device acquired and specifying a route, station name, and traveling direction of a current position based on the identified display content and traffic network data stored in the storage unit, extracts station names present in the traveling direction from the traffic network data based on the route, station name, and traveling direction of the current position, and generates guide information including at least part of the extracted station names, and outputs at least part of the generated guide information.
Abstract: An efficient route-defining method includes determining a route to a destination. The exemplary method also includes determining a wireless device to server connection type and assigning a tolerance in accordance with a connection type. The tolerance is usable to determine if a vehicle is off-route, and the tolerance is increased or decreased inversely corresponding to the speed of the connection type. According to the illustrative method, the assigned tolerance is used to determine points defining the route, such that the roads comprising the route are within a bounded area. The bounded area may be defined by the tolerance in conjunction with a plurality of lines connecting successive points along the route. Finally, the method includes delivering the determined points to a vehicle computing system in communication with the server.

Abstract: A position measuring unit measures a position. An area determining unit determines a means of movement. A position measurement result transmission determining unit determines, based on the means of movement determined by the area determining unit, whether or not to transmit the position measurement result of the position measuring unit to the information-providing apparatus. A transmitting unit transmits, in the case in which the position measurement result transmission determining unit determines to transmit the position measurement result to the information-providing apparatus, the position measurement result to the information-providing apparatus.
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for statistically obtaining navigation information. The system comprises: a mobile terminal module configured to send regularly location data thereof and time information corresponding to the location data to a location-based service module; the location-based service module configured to obtain the navigation information based on the statistical calculation of the location data and corresponding time information thereof. By the solutions provided in the present invention, visitation data of popular locations may be updated in real-time; and such determination methodologies are quite fair and reliable, do not have false content, and can provide quite precise navigation information to mobile communication terminal users.
Abstract: The latitude/longitude and time acquired at prescribed sampling time intervals by a touring bus 1 which runs a predetermined running route are wireless-transmitted. A user 6 specifies a getting-on/off point on the basis of the latitude/longitude and time provided by the touring bus and acquires a running route inclusive of the getting-on/off point. Therefore, the user can acquire the running route inclusive of the getting-on/off point easily and instantaneously. The user can specify the getting-on/off point using the speed computed from the latitude/longitude and time acquired. Thus, the user can set his desired notifying point on the running route thus acquired. In such a configuration, there are provided a system for permitting a user of a touring bus to acquire a running route of the touring bus inclusive of a getting-on/off point easily and instantaneously and a system for notifying the arrival of the touring bus which permits the user to set his desired notifying point easily.
Abstract: A method and system for multi-tracking among independent individuals without a monitoring center, where an individual is a person, a vehicle, or any other property, enables the individuals to be networked in a group and each individual to search and track other individuals of interest. The portable multi-tracking system is also capable of tracking personnel inside a building, where a self-contained positioning device provides continuous carrier's position information. In the open area a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit is activated to provide precision absolute position data which can be blended with the self-contained data to improve the accuracy and robustness of the positioning services. Thus the present invention provides excellent position tracking outside a building.
Abstract: Currently existing web applications for calculation of routes from an origin to a destination do not take into account traffic jams, road/rail reparations, accidents, or other temporary incidents. To overcome this drawback, the present specification provides for new network entities and method of providing a subscriber of an IP Multimedia Subsystem “IMS” network with a route to a destination, wherein this method comprises a step of receiving at an application server “AS” associated with the IMS network dynamic parameters from a plurality of transport media indicating respective incidental information, and a step of processing at the AS these dynamic parameters along with other input criteria to determine a number of routes from the origin to the destination.
Abstract: Some implementations of the invention provide real-time navigation data via a mobile device. Some embodiments of the invention provide portable devices that can indicate both relatively “static” information, such as map data, architectural features, casino layout information, etc., which may be updated from time to time. Accordingly, the term “static” as used herein does not necessarily mean unchanging or unchangeable. Some such embodiments provide portable devices that can simultaneously display static information and real-time video data. The video data may be provided by one or more cameras in a camera network. Information, such as offers, advertisements, etc., may be provided to a user according to the user's location.
