  • Patent number: 9811785
Abstract: This disclosure includes methods for displaying tips to hosts in a reservation system. The reservation system collects viewing data upon receiving viewing requests from potential guests to view a listing in the reservation system. The reservation system associates the viewing data with the listing. The reservations system applies a set of conditional expressions and calculations to the viewing data of the listing to compare the listing to a peer group of similar listings for each time interval in an evaluation time range. In some embodiments, a GUI is presented to the host of the subject listing comprising a histogram of the number of views of the subject listing, an indication of the number of views of the peer group of the subject listing, and region for displaying tips to the host of the subject listing.

  • Patent number: 9813855
Abstract: An application server may receive, from an administrative console, a message and a targeting specification. The targeting specification identifies at least one trait (e.g., ticket type, age, gender) shared by a group of targeted venue guests. The group of targeted venue guests is a subset of the plurality of venue guests of a venue. The application server then uses information obtained from venue guest devices corresponding to venue guests to identify who belongs to the group targeted venue guests as well as their corresponding targeted venue guest devices. The application server then transmits a message to the targeted venue guest devices. The message may further be transmitted according to a schedule set or triggers by the administrator console. The schedule may identify dates and times within which messages should be sent, while the triggers may identify locations that may trigger messages.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for implementing vehicle ECU reprograming, so the ECU programming, which plays a large role in vehicle performance characteristics, is tailored to current operational requirements, which may be different than the operational characteristics selected by the manufacturer when initially programming the vehicle ECU (or ECUs) with specific instruction sets, such as fuel maps. In one embodiment, a controller monitors the current operational characteristics of the vehicle, determines the current ECU programming, and determines if a different programming set would better suited to the current operating conditions. In the event that the current programming set should be replaced, the controller implements the ECU reprogramming. In a related embodiment, users are enabled to specify the ECU programming to change, such as changing speed limiter settings.

Abstract: Navigation devices, methods, and programs acquire a departure point and a destination, accept a designation of a passing area, and determine a departure-point-side border point on a departure point side and a destination-side border point on a destination side in the designated passing area. The devices, methods, and programs calculate, as a travel route from the departure point to the destination through the passing area: (i) a departure-point-side travel route from the departure point to the departure-point-side border point; (ii) a passing area travel route from the departure-point-side border point to the destination-side border point; and (iii) a destination-side travel route from the destination-side border point to the destination.

Abstract: A device may receive location information associated with mobile devices. The location information may identify locations associated with the mobile devices. The device may determine speed information associated with the mobile devices. The speed information may identify speeds associated with the mobile devices. The device may identify a traffic segment to be analyzed, and may determine a length of the traffic segment based on the location information and the speed information. The device may calculate a traffic delay associated with the traffic segment based on the length and the speed information. The device may calculate a rate of change of the traffic delay based on calculating the traffic delay, and may provide traffic information based on the rate of change of the traffic delay. The traffic information may identify an expected traffic delay at a future point in time.

  • Patent number: 9578461
Abstract: Enhanced input field features and techniques for displaying and resolving location information in meeting items are provided. In response to a user's interaction with a place name displayed in the location field of a user interface for a meeting item, up to date information is retrieved about the location associated with the place name from a web service and displayed. The display can include a map image tile. In addition to enabling the displaying of up to date information, during creation of the meeting item, the location input field of a meeting item can present location suggestions from within the location input field, for example, as a drop-down listing of possible locations. The suggestions for completing a user's input text string to the location input field can be obtained from sources such as a web service, a mailbox, a managed database/directory service, a history cache/database or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9574890
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to techniques that may reduce power consumption and improve user experience when using a personal navigation device or other mobile device to navigate along familiar routes or road segments. In particular, in response to a current position associated with the device corresponding to a familiar road segment (e.g., based on an index indicating how often the road segment was previously traversed), voice assistance and a display may be disabled and/or a frequency at which a receiver acquires signals to determine the current position may be reduced. Furthermore, a navigation application executing on the device may be automatically exited if the familiar road segment further includes a route destination. In other use cases, road segment familiarity and travel histories may be used in route planning, managing incoming calls or messages, and media playback, among other things.

Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed towards dynamically adding new pickup orders to an existing route structure. In at least some embodiments, a service provider separates a number of vendors into separate clusters based on one or more attributes. For example, the vendors may be separated by geographic region. The service provider may then identify a set of routes that are associated with each of the vendor clusters and run optimization techniques on that set of routes. The set of routes may be filtered based on attributes of the route. In some embodiments, the service provider may make a route alteration that accommodates the new pickup order.

Abstract: Free state determination at a high precision is made by using a simpler mechanism. A vehicle position detection device is configured to: store conditional probability information which associates each of values to be taken in vehicle information on a state of an own vehicle, a matching conditional probability that the value occurs in a matching state, and a free conditional probability that the value occurs in a free state; use the conditional probability information to acquire the matching conditional probability and the free conditional probability corresponding to the acquired value of the vehicle information; calculate a probability index in the matching state and a probability index in the free state based on the conditional probabilities; and determine which state is to be selected based on the probability index in the matching state and the probability index in the free state.

  • Patent number: 9558209
Abstract: A system for automatically correcting a mistaken geocoded location input. A wireless device such as a cell phone ranks possible location input based on edit distance, which is a ‘confidence factor’. If there is no perfect match, then a list of geocode options is returned, preferably sorted by the score. The ‘closeness’ is derived by looking at the edit distance to go from the input to the matched address. Edit distance is defined herein as the number of insertion/deletion/replacement operations to go from input location to the possible matched location. In one embodiment, an option list, or ‘pick list’, may be provided based on an edit distance scoring system. The edit distance scoring system is preferably based on a number of keystrokes difference between the input location name and the possible matched location name.

  • Patent number: 9551589
Abstract: Natural navigational guidance provides enhanced guidance instructions that take advantage of unique geographic features along a navigated route to specify maneuver points. Guidance points are clearly visible, unambiguous, and locally unique features in the geography of the maneuver area that can be used to aid the user in discovering the place where the maneuver point is. Within a guidance point selection area, a specific guidance point type has a more strict area within which it can be used. A natural guidance point selection area for an upcoming maneuver to be navigated is determined, and a unique geographic feature within the determined natural guidance point selection area is selected as a natural guidance point for navigation of the upcoming maneuver. A turn-type natural guidance point for an upcoming maneuver to be navigated is generated when the user device is within the natural guidance point selection area.
