Abstract: A prosody modification device includes: a real voice prosody input part that receives real voice prosody information extracted from an utterance of a human; a regular prosody generating part that generates regular prosody information having a regular phoneme boundary that determines a boundary between phonemes and a regular phoneme length of a phoneme by using data representing a regular or statistical phoneme length in an utterance of a human with respect to a section including at least a phoneme or a phoneme string to be modified in the real voice prosody information; and a real voice prosody modification part that resets a real voice phoneme boundary by using the generated regular prosody information so that the real voice phoneme boundary and a real voice phoneme length of the phoneme or the phoneme string to be modified in the real voice prosody information are approximate to an actual phoneme boundary and an actual phoneme length of the utterance of the human, thereby modifying the real voice prosody in

Abstract: A method to allow a user to cause a machine to make an utterance, together with apparatus for obtaining input from a user. The method comprises the steps of: analysing the context within which the utterance is to be made; creating a list of utterances appropriate to the context; on a human/machine interface, creating an indication that identifies to the user those utterances that are available, and allowing the user to indicate one of those utterances; and causing an utterance indicated by the user to be made. The apparatus comprises: a visual display configured to display a plurality of indicia angularly spaced on a locus about an origin, each of the plurality of indicia corresponding to a respective option; and an input device for use in indicating an angular position, wherein the apparatus is configured to generate an input event corresponding to an option associated with one of the plurality of indicia at an angular position corresponding to an angular position indicated by the input device.

Abstract: A method, system and computer product for accessing, by means of a telephone, a database containing data arranged in at least one table including a plurality of table entries, each table entry including a plurality of information elements. The invention retrieves identifiers of the information elements from the table. Each of the retrieved identifiers of the information elements are associated with a choice key, wherein the choice keys are adapted to be input by a user through a telephone. The invention presents, through the telephone, the identifiers of the information elements together with the respective choice keys to a user. Once a choice key input by the user is received through the telephone, the invention retrieves data from the table using the input choice key, wherein said retrieved data includes the content of the information element in at least one table entry whose identifier corresponds to the input choice key. The retrieved data is presented to the user through the telephone.
