Abstract: The present invention is a speech synthesizer that generates speech data of text including a fixed part and a variable part, in combination with recorded speech and rule-based synthetic speech. The speech synthesizer is a high-quality one in which recorded speech and synthetic speech are concatenated with the discontinuity of timbres and prosodies not perceived.

The method comprises the steps of: analysing the context within which the utterance is to be made; creating a list of utterances appropriate to the context; on a human/machine interface, creating an indication that identifies to the user those utterances that are available, and allowing the user to indicate one of those utterances; and causing an utterance indicated by the user to be made. Abstract: A method, system and computer product for accessing, by means of a telephone, a database containing data arranged in at least one table including a plurality of table entries, each table entry including a plurality of information elements. The invention retrieves identifiers of the information elements from the table. Each of the retrieved identifiers of the information elements are associated with a choice key, wherein the choice keys are adapted to be input by a user through a telephone. The invention presents, through the telephone, the identifiers of the information elements together with the respective choice keys to a user. Once a choice key input by the user is received through the telephone, the invention retrieves data from the table using the input choice key, wherein said retrieved data includes the content of the information element in at least one table entry whose identifier corresponds to the input choice key. Abstract: A translation apparatus is provided that includes a bilingual example sentence dictionary that stores plural example sentences in a first language and plural example sentences in a second language being translation of the plural example sentences, an input unit that inputs an input sentence in the first language, a first search unit that searches whether the input sentence matches any of the plural example sentences in the first language, a second search unit that searches for at least one example sentence candidate that is similar to the input sentence from the plural example sentences in the first language, when a matching example sentence is not found in the first search unit, and an output unit that outputs an example sentence in the second language that is translation of an example sentence searched in the first search unit or the example sentence candidate searched in the second search unit.
