Abstract: A system and method for providing geo-service advertising messages using a wireless vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communications network. Messages are transmitted from a business that identify the type of business, the name of the business and the location of the business, which are received by vehicles traveling within a certain distance of the business. The messages can be rebroadcast by the vehicles receiving the messages from the business to other vehicles either in a multi-hop information routing manner or in a delay-tolerant network information dissemination fashion so that the messages are sent to a wider area, but within a predetermined geographic area and with a predetermined time. If a particular user of the system wishes to learn about a particular business or type of business, he can activate the system so that the messages being sent between the vehicles and from the businesses can be displayed to the user for his use.

  • Publication number: 20100023393
Abstract: A method for automatically creating personalized ads to target a specific individual. The method includes first identifying a potential customer who may be interested in a particular product. An automated process then learns about and understands the customer based on his location and how that person interacts with the particular medium on which the ad is going to be presented. Once the information about the customer is developed, an advertisement is created that includes a collection of ad components that identify parts of the ad that may be of interest to the customer based on the learned information. The ad components are selected from a database of available components. The advertisement is then scheduled and placed in the medium and its measure of effectiveness is determined based on the customer's reaction thereto. These measures of effectiveness are used to further refine parameters in understanding the customer and designing the ad.

  • Publication number: 20090319341
Abstract: A telematics control unit in a vehicle couples to a vehicle communication network bus and monitors signals on the bus that correspond to various parameters related to entertainment devices in the vehicle, such as, for examples, a radio, a telephone, and a video player. During a predetermined period, the TCU monitors the entertainment device signals and stores information represented by the signals to a memory. The TCU transmits the entertainment device signal information from the memory to a telematics operations center server operated by a telematics services provider. The TOC is configured to analyze the status of the entertainment signal information to determine various entertainment device settings in the vehicle and how they correlate with given entertainment programming, based on programs being broadcast when the TCU monitors the signal, or programs an occupant of the vehicle plays from storage media. Advertisers may obtain the information analysis and tailor advertising accordingly.
