Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for improving subject adherence to a regimen are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises (a) assigning at least one subject to a survey group, wherein each subject is to participate in a regimen on a regular regimen schedule; then (b) transmitting a survey prompt to each of said subjects on a regular survey schedule so that said subject is prompted to complete a survey regarding their use of and/or the outcome of the regimen; (c) receiving a survey response from those of said subjects who respond to said survey prompt; and (d) performing step (b) to (c) on one or more occasions, so that subject adherence to said regimen is enhanced.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to evaluating a user's compliance with a prescription. In one scenario, a computer system receives user authentication credentials from a user's mobile wallet application, where the mobile wallet application is configured to perform monetary transactions and provide mobile health functionality. The computer system authenticates the user using the received authentication credentials and provides an indication of specified medications the user is to take, where the indication includes instructions for taking the specified medications. The indication is also displayed to the user via the mobile wallet application. The computer system receives an indication from the mobile wallet application that the user took or did not take the specified medications and sends compliance information including an indication of whether the user took their medications to various caregivers including doctors, hospitals and/or pharmacies.

Abstract: A method of retrieving electronic medical record (EMR) information from an EMR memory having electronic medical records for a plurality of persons. The method is controlled by one or more controllers and may include one or more acts of: obtaining sensor information corresponding to one or more physiologic indications of a user; identifying a medical condition of the user based upon the sensor information; filtering electronic medical record (EMR) information of the user based upon the identified medical condition of the user, the EMR including a plurality of electronic medical records of the user; and providing the filtered EMR of the user. The method may also select one or more addresses to which to transmit the filtered EMR and transmit the filtered EMR to the selected addresses.

Abstract: A method for tracking ventilator information for clinical process improvement or reporting of a ventilator-associated event. The method includes receiving rules for reporting a ventilator-associated event; configuring threshold values corresponding to the rules; comparing ventilator information obtained during patient care with the rules and the threshold values; and generating an output of the comparison of said ventilator information with the rules and the threshold values.

Abstract: A method is provided for optimizing savings in financial accounts, including healthcare and retirement accounts for an employee and or participant. The method includes receiving information about the participant and financial accounts for which the participant is eligible to use and or using, and generating for the participant a savings hierarchy recommending the order and amounts to be contributed to the financial accounts from the participant's budgeted savings dollars. The method also includes determining generating the savings hierarchy for both full year and partial year activity by the participant. The method further includes transmitting the recommendations to the participant via data displayed as a graphical user interface with a graphical representation of the savings hierarchy to provide the participant with ease of understanding the recommendations for optimizing the budgeted savings dollars or selected contribution amount.

Abstract: Method, arrangement and apparatus for administrating dispensing medication in which the arrangement receives user information to authorize access of a user according to defined user roles to control patient care events. The arrangement receives care related information for the patient based on the user information defining the user role in the arrangement. A medication item to be taken by the patient is then detected and item information of at least one detected medication item is read. By comparing the item information with care related information the patient is authorized to receive the medication item. A reminder can be set to allow the patient to receive the medication item on a delivery time based on the care related and item information. Upon receiving the medication item on the delivery time, the actual delivery time together with item information is communicated to acknowledge the reminder.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reporting, organizing and notifying interested parties of injuries to athletes, students or other minors. Injury reports may be generated by multiple different parties using a variety of reporting platforms, such as desktop computers and smartphones, and with a variety of modalities, such as software, web-based applications, text message or e-mail. The injury reports are organized to generate a single injury event, and a notification of the injury is then automatically sent to one or more interested or authorized parties, such as a parent, guardian, coach, teacher, trainer, doctor or school administrator. Parties may submit revisions to the injury event if information changes or as the injured party's condition changes, and additional notifications will be generated for each revision. The notifications may include treatment information and may indicate if the injured party no longer suffers from the injury.

Abstract: The subject matter of this specification can be implemented in, among other things, a system for interfacing with multiple medical imaging modalities that includes a manifest generator for generating a manifest of medical images. The manifest can be used to determine an ordering or a layout of the medical images generated by the modalities, optionally as a function of the modality type, anatomical area, and other variables. In some embodiments, the various medical images and metadata may be received at an image order management system that parses the metadata and assembles the metadata into the manifest files that may be transmitted independently to remote interpretation sites, which in turn may be equipped with image viewer applications that analyze the manifest files and determine a rearranged ordering and/or grouping of the medical images, wherein the rearrangement is executed as a function of modality, anatomy, orientation and other variables.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing patient data between at least two independent applications in a distributed environment includes capturing screen information from a display window of a first application client that is displaying a medical image of a patient, analyzing the screen information captured from the first application client display to extract patient identifying information, and synchronizing a display of information of the patient on a second application system display screen with the first application display window using the extracted patient identification information.

Abstract: A tool for planning and management of clinical trials. The tool computes a patient enrollment timeline in a clinical trial using multiple factors that bear on the rate of patient enrollment. The factors may be site-dependent factors or may be country-dependent factors. When these factors are applied, different sites may have different rates of enrollment in the same interval. Further, the factors may be time dependent such that even the same sites may have different enrollment rates in different intervals. Once the timeline is created, the tool may use it to calculate a schedule of monitor visits, project trial completion or otherwise generate output used in management of the clinical trial.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes, among other things, an example method for maintaining an account for a life insurance policy. The method may include determining an amount to apply to the account, the amount based at least in part on i) a plurality of first factors based on data for life insurance policies in a class of policies, wherein the class of policies includes the life insurance policy, and ii) a plurality of second factors based on data for an individual, wherein the individual is a policy holder of the life insurance policy. The method may include increasing at least a portion of the account by the amount.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of holding laboratory test results in a computerized environment. A first laboratory test result is received, and is related to one or more other laboratory tests that comprise a healthcare order. It is determined whether the test results of the order have been received. If they have all been received, the test results are compared to predefined criteria and are determined to be considered normal. Once determined to be considered normal, the order is automatically verified. If the tests results of the healthcare order have not all been received, the first laboratory test result is held until all of the test results have been received.

Abstract: A computer system includes a data storage device. The data storage module receives, stores, and provides access to historical claim data. A categorical aggregation component comprising program instructions stored in a program memory provides categorized and aggregated historical claim data by identifying claim categories based on the historical claim data, each of the one or more claim categories associated with a respective set of claim characteristics, identifying claims of the historical claim data associated with one of the claim categories, assigning each identified claim to one of a plurality of total severity ranges based on the total severity of the identified claim, and determining an average cost per claim year for claims of each total severity range when executed by a computer processor.

Abstract: A system for remotely monitoring an individual. The system includes a server system for generating a script program from a set of queries. The script program is executable by a remote apparatus that displays information and/or a set of queries to the individual through a user interface. Responses to the queries that are entered through the user interface together with individual identification information are sent from the remote apparatus to the server system across a communication network. The server system also includes an automated answering service for providing a series of questions from a stored set of questions for an individual at the remote apparatus to respond to, storing responses to each provided question in the series of questions and providing a service based on the individual's response to the questions.

In an implementation, one or more computer-readable media comprising instructions that are executable to provide a web service application programming interface (API). The web service API is configured to accept a document and information specified by the document's provider. The information specifying which of a plurality of tabs in a user interface at least a portion of data included in the document is to be associated with for display in which at least one of the tabs pertains to billing data and another one of the tabs does not pertain to billing data.

Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer readable media for transitioning a clinical care room from a first scene to a second scene in order to facilitate completion of a real-world activity are provided. The first scene in the clinical care room is presented where the clinical care room has one or more zones. The first scene is associated with a first group of setting for components within the one or more zones. An input corresponding to the real-world activity is received. Incident to receiving the input, the second scene is provided. The second scene is associated with a second group of settings for the components. The second group of setting is optimized to facilitate completion of the real-world activity.

Abstract: A query system is provided for retrieving information from a medical information system, or its databases. A user interactive query wizard facilitates creation of query scripts for retrieval of information from the medical information system. Queries may be performed across a set of patients, hospitals or clinical resources. Query results are presented via an output device, such as a computer display. These results may be exported to other applications, such as known office or desktop applications, or other systems, such as database systems.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for controlling access to electronic health records associated with an individual are provided. Individuals are provided with an electronic health records account (EHR account), wherein the EHR account is available to store electronic health records associated with the individual, in a network accessible storage repository. Additionally, an individual may be provided with plurality of disposable access devices, wherein the access devices may be presented to an entity. In turn, the entity may access the individual's EHR account, based on a predefined authorization specified for a particular access device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program media for creating, managing, backing, and transferring health care credits are described. Health care credits may be implemented as freely transferable financial instruments whose initial value can be based on costs or savings generated by an individual, or by a health care provider, that are associated with a health-related metric or a health benefiting behavior(s).

Abstract: Medical and other research organizations, sites within those organizations, and physicians practicing at those sites register in an online database. The company providing the database posts a description of a clinical trial opportunity or other research opportunity. The company can search and match for physicians with research opportunities, or the physicians can browse the list of opportunities. Once it is determined who will perform the research and awarded a contract, performance data are collected at 30-day intervals over the life of the trial for computation of benchmarks. The benchmarks from one physician are compared anonymously to those from other physicians participating in the same opportunity.

Abstract: A method is described that enables a health care provider to monitor and manage a health condition of a patient. The system includes a health care provider apparatus operated by a health care provider and a remotely programmable patient apparatus that is operated by a patient. The health care provider develops a script program using the health care provider apparatus and then sends the script program to a remotely programmable patient apparatus through a communication network such as the World Wide Web. The script program is a computer-executable patient protocol that provides information to the patient about the patient's health condition and that interactively monitors the patient health condition by asking the patient questions and by receiving answers to those questions. The answers to these health related questions are then forwarded as patient data from the remotely programmable patient apparatus to the health care provider apparatus through the communication network.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for generating a multi-dimensional contextual platform that may be used to manage, diagnose, and communicate with patients in a medical practice. In particular, the system may provide a website that may provide dynamic, avatar-based interfaces that include a doctor interface and a patient interface. A doctor may create a subscription with an operator of the website in order to find new patients and view patient health records across multiple dimensions. A patient may create a subscription with the operator to locate a doctor and maintain open communications with the doctor. Once subscribed, the doctor and patient may use the website to enhance the overall healthcare experience by using social networking aspects of the website to facilitate doctor and patient communication in real-time.

Abstract: A computer assisted method that enables multiple users with client devices to simultaneously connect via a network to a processor and data storage with computer instructions to use the computer instructions to identify contextual awareness situations, identify contextual awareness compliance specifications, calculate data specifications to meet the compliance specifications, collect raw data related to the contextual awareness, compare the collected raw data with the data specifications to meet compliance specifications, generate a visualization of the contextual awareness for defined time periods including times in the future, and formulate an integrated composite decision plan that accelerates decision making for compliance regarding the contextual awareness by stakeholders.

Abstract: A method of delivery of medical data via a trusted end-to-end communication link. The method comprises obtaining a measurement of a parameter of a human being by a first sensor, obtaining a biometric from the human being by a second sensor, receiving input from the first and second sensors by a secure application executing in a trusted security zone of a processor, whereby access to the input from the first and second sensors by applications executing in a normal partition of the processor is blocked, wherein the input from the first and second sensors comprises the measurement of the parameter and the biometric, and transmitting a message based on the input from the first and second sensors via a trusted end-to-end communication link to a medical data server, wherein an application that receives the message executes in a trusted security zone of the server.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, historical claim data may be stored in a computer storage unit. The historical claim data may be used to train and verify a predictive model, the predictive model being associated with an evaluation of claim transactions to determine whether to refer each claim transactions to a nurse intervention program. Data for current claim transactions may be processed, and the trained and verified predictive model may be applied to the data for the current claim transactions to generate a respective output for each of the current claim transactions. Some of the current claim transactions may be selectively routed to a case management center associated with the nurse intervention program based on the outputs generated by the predictive model.

Abstract: Systems, computer programs, and methods for controlling ancillary medical costs of a healthcare practice and/or insurance network with a plurality of physicians participating therein, are provided. Location identification tags in communication with sensors on hand hygiene instruments within a health care environment, are monitored to collect hand hygiene event data and to determine rates of hand hygiene compliance below set targets. Root causes of hand hygiene compliance are identified and corresponding hand hygiene solutions are provided to implement lean analytics and six sigma based improvement to hand hygiene compliance rates.

Abstract: A healthcare communication system can include a patient terminal having a keyboard unit with message keys for transmitting different ones of one or more programmed messages, and alphanumeric keys for composing messages. The patient terminal can be communicatively linked to a patient terminal display for presenting the programmed messages and composed messages. Each of the message keys can include identifying indicia associated with a programmed message transmitted upon selection of the message key. The patient terminal keyboard also can include one or more destination keys for specifying one of multiple destination addresses within the healthcare communication system for delivering individual ones of the messages.

A second list presented can include a plurality of candidate second clinical findings that potentially correspond to a second modality of testing performed. Responsive to receiving a second user input selecting at least one of the candidate second clinical findings, that candidate second clinical finding can be selected as a second clinical finding corresponding to the second modality of testing. A determination can be made whether the first clinical finding and the second clinical finding clinically correlate.

The system and method allows diet and exercise plans to be tailored to individual users based on their preferences and provides consistent and appropriate strategy messages designed to encourage and motivate users toward successfully maintaining healthy lifestyle habits. Users complete initial assessments which detail individual food and physical activity preferences. The system uses the assessments to generate individualized messages that are pushed to user devices through a system incorporating cellular technologies. Tailored messages are pushed from the computer based expert system to user devices at predetermined times each day.

Abstract: A medical payment system is described in which a provider of medical goods and/or services submits, via telephone or other communications medium, a request for payment amount determination for a patient encounter. A price determination system determines which of a plurality of fee schedules negotiated by the provider applies to the patient encounter and calculates, based at least in part on information entered by the provider, a payment amount for the encounter. In one embodiment, the provider receives the payment amount information while the patient is at the point of service. In one embodiment, the provider may use the system to submit a claim for payment by at least one responsible party.

Abstract: A dialysis system includes: a home dialysis machine located at a patient's home; a clinician computer associated with a dialysis center, the dialysis center located remotely from the home dialysis machine; a server in data communication with the home dialysis machine and the clinician computer; and wherein the system is configured and arranged for (i) treatment data to be sent by the home dialysis machine to the clinician computer via the server, and (ii) the treatment data to be analyzed to form a treatment prescription that is delivered to and used by the home dialysis machine to perform a subsequent treatment.

Abstract: Protocol meta-models are made available to a protocol designer. Each protocol meta-model includes a list of preliminary patient eligibility attributes appropriate for a particular disease category. The protocol designer chooses the appropriate meta-model, and encodes the clinical trial protocol, including eligibility and patient workflow, within the selected meta-model. The resulting protocol database is stored together with databases of other protocols in a library of protocol databases. Once a patient is enrolled into a study, the protocol database indicates to a clinician what tasks are to be performed at each patient visit. These tasks can include both patient management tasks and data management tasks.

Abstract: A method has been provided that associates insurance payment linking information with litigation information and associates insurance payment information with the insurance payment linking information and the litigation information to identify a potential third-party claim or a potential subrogation claim. Associating the insurance payment linking information with the litigation information may further include associating at least one medical procedure code with at least some of the litigation information.

Abstract: Methods, computer systems and computer readable media for online authentication of an organization are provided. Authentication is accomplished by receiving a first set of patient specific attributes from an organization. This first set of attributes is obtained from an eligibility transaction between the organization and a payor for the patient. The first set of attributes is compared to a second set of attributes involving the same patient, where the second set of attributes is obtained from an eligibility transaction between the online service provider and the payor. If the first set of attributes matches the second set of attributes, the secure online service provider will be notified that the organization is authentic.

Abstract: A system that can enable establishment of a self-describing data network is provided. Generally, the innovation provides a mechanism by which self-describing data can be collected, validated and stored in such a way that permits each data element to be inherently self-describing. The manner in which the data is stored can be analogized to a ‘data chemistry’ whereby data is stored in the smallest meaningful bit (e.g., atom) coupled with descriptive metadata (e.g., tags). In a specific example, the data network maintains health-related data where each element includes a core data element wrapped with descriptive metadata. The descriptive metadata (e.g., tags) can be employed to interrelate the data elements for storage as well as to facilitate efficient traversal of the data network as a whole.
