Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of processing returned rental inventory items comprises receiving, at a rental item provider and from a set of first customers of the rental item provider, a set of returned rental items that the first customers have returned to the rental item provider after renting the items; predicting a subset of the returned rental items that the rental item provider will need to provide in the future to a set of second customers; creating and storing a record in a computer of the subset of the returned rental items; providing the subset of the returned rental items to the set of second customers without first returning the returned rental items to an inventory of rental items.

In one embodiment, an offer received from at least one of the responsible parties is provided to at least one of the requesting parties. The method may be executed on a computer connected to a network such as the Internet.

Abstract: A method and system are described that enables a domain name owner (i.e., a “lessor”) to grant a third party (i.e., a “lessee”) a lease to any domain name the lessor owns. More specifically, a lessor may use a domain name service to allow a third party (i.e., a “lessee”) to lease a domain name for use or to purchase the domain name outright. More specifically, the lessor may lease a domain name to the lessee so that any user who accesses the leased domain name is redirected to a network resource identified by the lessee. The lessee may also be provided the option to purchase the domain name outright from the lessor, rather than lease it.

Abstract: A facility for provisioning and managing registered applications is described. Registered applications can be downloaded to a mobile device from an application provisioning server. When the download is complete, the mobile device may begin execution of the registered application. However, at least portions of the registered application cannot be executed by the mobile device without first passing control to an application provisioning server via a network connection. Upon receiving temporary control of the registered application, the application provisioning server can perform tasks such as license verification and other tasks before turning control of the application back to the mobile device.

The tracking devices can be configured to gather and to transmit a variety of data, such as weather or water conditions, location, species of game, and many others. Data is processed and stored according to categories of information contained therein. The user accesses the stored data by a web page, which can be configured to display certain categories of data, to provide access to certain electronic features, or to provide certain features corresponding to a user-selected membership level.

Abstract: A device, computer program product, and method for managing resources for performing operations in a computer system are presented. The device may include a resource reservation unit to reserve resources for performing an operation specified by a user. A query unit may query the user whether to reserve additional resources in the event the operation cannot be completed within a reserved time in the reserved resources. A resumption instruction unit may cause the resource reservation unit to reserve the additional resources and cause a continuation of the operation in the additional resources upon receiving a resumption instruction in response to the query.

Abstract: RSNs are attached to equipment at construction sites. Gateways located and construction sites. A rental company uses presence data to know in real-time which of multiple yards specific equipment is located for meeting customer needs. At a renter's construction site, a gateway receives engine-hours data from RSNs associated with rental equipment and reports to the rental company, which uses the data to determine whether contract limits on use are exceeded and/or whether the equipment is abused. For sites not having a gateway, a truck-mounted gateway is used to periodically visit and collect data from the RSNs at each site. The data collected is sent to the rental company via cellular link. A construction company uses the system to track and monitor its own equipment in storage yards and on construction sites. Classes are assigned such that a rental company sees only the rented equipment. RSNs send theft and vandalism alarms.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for renting a peripheral storage entity to a remote client. From the service provider's vantage, one method transceives negotiation signals between a remote first client (the user) and a service provider, via a network link. Using the negotiation signals, the service provider agrees to rent a peripheral storage entity to the first client, and sends digital content from the peripheral storage entity via the network link to the remote first client. The peripheral storage entity may be located with the service provider or with a remote second client. System and methods are also provided from the perspective of remote clients that are either receiving or supplying peripheral storage entity content.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for creating online and storing within a server system a completed electronic rental contract for engaging a rental vehicle from a rental car company's fleet to thereby authorize a user to pick up a rental vehicle without the user visiting a rental counter. In an exemplary embodiment, an electronic rental proposal can be communicated for display to a user on a website, the electronic rental proposal being at least partially responsive to previously received data about the user's future rental of a rental vehicle. Upon acceptance of the rental proposal, a completed electronic rental contract can be created, the completed electronic rental contract resulting in the user being authorized to pick up a rental vehicle in accordance with the completed electronic rental contract without the user visiting a rental counter.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for creating and storing an electronic rental contract for a rental vehicle from a rental car company to permit a user to bypass a rental counter of a car rental facility when creating the electronic rental contract. A rental vehicle reservation can be created for a user, and then a rental proposal can be created and displayed based upon the reservation. Upon acceptance of the rental proposal by the user, the electronic rental contract is created. A kiosk may be used to form the electric rental contract.
