  • Publication number: 20120259788
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to various architectures that can, inter alia, facilitate creation of a synch file as well as facilitate interpretation of the synch file. Both creation and interpretation can be accomplished in conjunction with an original media asset. The synch file can include transformation commands that can operate on a presentation of the asset rather than upon the asset itself. Accordingly, what is actually perceived by a content consumer during a presentation of the asset need not be exactly what the asset creator fixed in a tangible medium. Rather, the content consumer can observe a derivative media presentation based upon interpretation of the synch file.

Abstract: A method is disclosed where an e-book lending library is provided, the e-book lending library comprising a plurality of e-books. An e-book and an e-book lending license that is valid for a predetermined loan period is provided from the e-book lending library to an electronic device associated with a first user, via a communication network disposed therebetween. An indication of a time block during the loan period, and other than including an end of the loan period, is received from the first user via the communication network, during which time block the first user agrees to relinquish the lending license. The first user's access to the e-book is disabled at a start of the time block, and the lending license is assigned to a different user during the time block. At an end of the time block, the first user's access to the e-book is enabled.

Abstract: A system and process for filing a request with an administrative body, the system having a communications interface and a server connectable to a data communications network. A primary module of the server is able to receive data about an IP right from a user. This data is then used by a data gateway to access information on the IP right. A verification module verifies the ability to validly file the request based on the information accessed by the data gateway. The primary module is operatively coupled to a communications module. The communications module is able to send a message via the communications interface to file the request with the administrative body. The communications module is also able to receive electronic acknowledgement via the communications interface in response to the message sent. The primary module is able to issue a notification to the user confirming the filing of the request.
