A method for evaluating agent quality, individual student success probability, and sharing these evaluations among a plurality of applicants to a plurality of academic programs while retaining the confidentiality of individual applicants is shown. Multiple parameters both immediate and historic are used to evaluate agent quality and individual student success probability.

Abstract: Techniques for inferring a specific skill associated with a job posting are described. In an example, disclosed is a system that selects, from a jobs database, a specific job posting from a plurality of job postings. Additionally, job applicants for the specific job posting can be determined using indicators in the profile data of members. Moreover, a set of skills associated with the job applicants can be obtained. Furthermore, a percentage of the job applicants having a specific skill from the set of skills can be determined using the profile data of the job applicants. Subsequently, a confidence score of the specific skill being associated with the specific job posting can be calculated based on the percentage of the job applicants having the specific skill. A user interface can display a presentation of the specific job posting to a first member when the confidence score transgresses a predetermined score.

Abstract: An education application delivers educational content including videos and documents to any computing device of a user via a student account. Each video or document is associated with a course and a corresponding course code. A database lists those courses and course codes that are incompatible with one another. A University database lists courses that a student is currently enrolled in. Course codes for educational content delivered via a student account are compared to either database. Access by the student account is blocked if any course codes for delivered content are incompatible with either database. Another database records videos watched via a student account. If a threshold number of relatively long videos are watched in a short time period then access by the student account is blocked. If a student account begins a second video before the first is finished then access is blocked. Content is hidden if not relevant.

The relationships specified or embodied by the social graph may be used to determine the group of individuals and, thus, values of the set of attributes. Then, at least a subset of the values may be presented to the other individual. This information may be used by the other individual to increase the likelihood that they will achieve the objective.

Abstract: An apparatus for recommending courses (200) comprises: a first receiver (210) adapted to receive a course request from a user client; a first collector (220) adapted to collect user context related to the user client; a first calculator (230) adapted to calculate relevance between the user context and each course stored in a storage device; and a first recommender (240) adapted to recommend courses on the basis of the calculated relevance to the user client. A direct and efficient method for recommending courses based on user context which has a strong impact on user experience is provided. According to the method, user information such as user profile, user behaviors, or past learning activities is not indispensable for the recommendation, and thus cold start problems happening when no user information is available can be solved. The user does not need to input query term(s) when requesting the recommendation, and the recommendation can be performed whenever and wherever the user requests courses.

Abstract: An educational institution (also referred as a university) is rich with multiple kinds of data: students, faculty members, departments, divisions, and at university level. Relating and correlating this data at and across various levels help in obtaining a perspective about the educational institution. A structural representation captures the essence of all of the relationships in a unified manner and an important aspect of the relationship is the so-called “influence factor.” This factor indicates influencing effect of an entity over another entity, wherein the entities are a part of the structural representation. A system and method for the construction of such a structural representation of an educational institution based on the educational institution specific information is discussed.

In addition, a standardized nomenclature may be created using XML tags or other terminology, to identify like information from different educational institutions.
