Abstract: The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for managing school attendance of a smart city based on the Internet of Things, which is implemented by a school attendance management platform. The method for managing school attendance includes: obtaining student registration information based on a student user platform; obtaining student evaluation scores based on a plurality of school user sub-platforms; aggregating the student registration information and the student evaluation scores through a school attendance service platform to obtain aggregated data; and determining school place allocation based on the aggregated data.

Abstract: A data capturing system for use with aerial spherical imagery is provided. The system allows for capturing and tracking of data with respect to those accessing and viewing particular aerial spherical imagery, such as the imagery on a GIS map. The data capturing system may include a server having a processor and a memory and a software application providing instruction to the server to display aerial spherical imagery, such as spherical imagery, to a user through a network connection, such as through the Internet. For example the system may provide the map as a website to the user that is displayed on a remote computing device accessible by the user in order to view the spherical imagery. Data related to the interaction of the user with the website is captured and tracked in order to use such data for other purposes.

As an example, the risk score may be based on a similarity between (a) attributes of the student and (b) attributes of students that have previously dropped out or transferred to other institutions. A student retention interface displays risk information for students in aggregate form or individual form. The interface may display student information in a student-population view comprising aggregate student information. The interface may display a risk-category view comprising a subset of students. The interface may display an individual-profile view comprising detailed information about a particular student. The interface may allow for drill-down navigation between the views.

A personal user device stores a particular content item and transmits the particular content item to a data distribution device for storage. A client device transmits a request for the particular content item to the personal user device. The personal user device determines a characteristic associated with the personal user device, the data distribution device, the client device, and/or the particular content item. Based on the characteristic, the personal user device determines whether to serve the particular content item, or to redirect the client device to the data distribution device to obtain the particular content item. If the client device is redirected, then the client device transmits a request for the particular content item to the data distribution device. The data distribution device transmits the particular content item to the client device.

Abstract: A system is disclosed that makes it easy for educational institutions to contact and counsel student loan borrowers to promote successful loan repayment. The system is a web-based tool that automates borrower communication through telephone, letter and email campaigns, using loan information that is obtained through third-party loan servicers by the educational institution and then uploaded into the system. The self-service default prevention tool aggregates loan data form multiple sources in one place to perform borrower outreach, offers targeted communication campaigns to address borrowers in repayment, displays real-time estimated default rate trends, and provides on-demand reports. A dashboard is generated that provides a snapshot of the educational institution's entire portfolio, projected cohort default rates, trending analysis charts, important messages and a history of file imports.

The generation unit generates a synthesis parameter to determine a degree of reading of the keyword in accordance with the score and the type of the marker. The addition unit adds to the keyword a tag for reading the keyword in accordance with the synthesis parameter. The speech synthesis unit generates synthesized speech obtained by synthesizing speech of the keyword in accordance with the tag.

Abstract: An application assistance system is described herein that provides an on-demand canonical user interface that can quickly allow a user to learn the actions exposed by an application, such as a web site. The application assistance system is a pattern and method for guiding the user of a site/application through a set of possible actions on a page by providing a well-known invocation of hints. These hints show the actions/tasks that a user can take on a page by visually spotlighting a specific area of the page and providing a tooltip or pop-up dialog that describes the action/task the user is trying to complete while preserving the data the user has already entered. The system also provides a task pane that supports randomly accessing various steps of a task the system is explaining. Thus, the system makes it much easier for a user to learn to use an application.

Abstract: An online education platform manages and integrates a number of education services for users of the platform, including job recall services. These job recall services include management and distribution of job recall materials that test whether job applicants have acquired desired knowledge or skills for a particular job opening or class of jobs. The job recall materials are uploaded to the education platform and mapped to one or more learning units. Each learning unit is associated with an educational course and includes a distinct concept in the associated course. Responsive to a user of the education platform completing the learning unit to which a job recall material is mapped, the job recall material is recommended to the user.

Abstract: A student evaluation enrollment system may obtain two or more student associated variables. The system may determine a training population data set and a predictive population data set for the student associated variables. A probability distribution may be determined by applying at least one probabilistic model to the training population data set. Enrollment probability of the student population may then be determined by applying the probability distribution to the predictive population data set. A report may be created and distributed detailing the enrollment probability of the student population in accordance with the student associated variable.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting and engaging participants in an online course that are not likely to attend the online course, is presented herein. Participants in an online course are responsible for attending the course by downloading instructional material and completing assignments through an online forum. Attending the online course causes interaction data and/or performance data to be generated and stored for each participant. The interaction and performance data for a particular participant may be analyzed to determine whether the particular participant is likely to not attend the online course during a future period. If the particular participant is not likely to attend the online course during the future period, an alert is a counselor to intervene and engage the participant. A counselor may follow up with the particular participant to make sure the participant is on track to attend and complete the online course.

Abstract: The system and method allows a user to share a portfolio with entities external to the learning management system, e.g. an employer, a potential employer, another learning institution, alumni, friends, family, any party interested in learning about the student's achievements. A portfolio may store all of the materials a user has worked on for one or more courses. Portfolios may also include user progress toward achieving standards at a granular level, such as academic competencies. System users may be able to search for portfolios based on one or more competencies to identify users that are qualified in a particular field or skillset. Through the portfolio web site, a user can share portions of the portfolios with other users via a URL. The URL or internet address may be specific to a student or provide general access to student portfolios. The entity may need to supply credentials, including a username, password, or PKI to access the portfolio associated with the URL or internet address.

Abstract: Group-based, periodic education intervention that provides a targeted curriculum selected specifically for each period based on current skill assessment data is described. For example, candidates' skill levels in multiple skills are assessed, and groups are formed based on commonality of skill level. A period-specific curriculum is generated for each group to address the specific needs of the individuals of the respective group. After delivery of the period-specific targeted curriculum over the period, re-assessments of the current skill of the group members are made, and a period-specific curriculum for the subsequent period is generated and delivered. Fidelity of an implementation of the curriculum is analyzed, and alerts, reminders, and reports are provided to improve fidelity of an implementation of the curriculum.

The IDDI guides course development by organizing course content in a relational database. The IDDI maps a plurality of course objectives to a plurality of course outcomes to create a course model. The IDDI uses the course model to generate and/or automatically user interfaces used by a course creator to input lower-level course information.

Relating and correlating this data at and across various levels help in obtaining a perspective about the educational institution. A structural representation captures the essence of all of the relationships in a unified manner and an important aspect of the relationship is the so-called “influence factor.” This factor indicates influencing effect of an entity over another entity, wherein the entities are a part of the structural representation. Given such a structural representation, a system and method that propagates the influence factors of the entities to arrive at a stable representation from the point of view of influences is discussed.

The higher education CRM system may use the history of interactions and information about the person to calculate the probability value, or measure of the likelihood that the person moves to another stage in the student life cycle, and the desirability value, or a measure of the appeal of the person to the educational institution at a stage of the student life cycle, for the person. The higher education CRM system may display the calculated values for the probability and desirability to a representative of the institution.
