Abstract: A tracking device and system for tracking containers, in particular, containers and their contents, is disclosed. The tracking device utilizes AGPS/GPS/GSM/CDMA/LTE/EVDO/WiFi/RFID/Bluetooth®/TDMA technology to enable an individual to locate and monitor the movement of a Container at any given time and for any desired period of time. The tracking system utilizes virtual geo-fences to identify buildings or specific addresses to assist in determining the specific location of the containers in relation to these addresses. The tracking devices can be activated by motion sensors to alert the tracking system of a possible theft or sudden movement. The tracking system incorporates software which enables an individual to determine the location and contents of the containers, and schedule the use of containers by specific persons at specific locations.

Abstract: Subcontracting is a common practice in logistics industry for delivering goods from a consigner to a consignee, meaning that a prime logistics service provider, e.g. a third-party logistics company, usually outsources its contracted logistics service from the consigner to specialized companies to execute individual logistics operations. In the present disclosure, a light-weight privacy protection mechanism is introduced for these enterprises with subcontracting relationships to share logistics track and trace data captured with Auto-ID systems equipped with RFID readers, sensors, or global positioning devices. The mechanism consists of a set of protocols designed for the involved stakeholders to register and cancel subcontracting relationship, to set up and clear outsourced logistics job, to upload, update and clear the job data, to track the job execution progress and trace the job execution history, and a method and system to implement these protocols.

The systems and methods provided herein may allow a user to receive search results that are tailored to the user's personal preferences based on social and purchasing information known about the user. In addition, the systems and methods provided herein may provide shipping updates to a buyer that include a personalized message based on location information provided by the package being shipped. In addition, the systems and methods provided herein allow merchants to provide incentives and rewards for shoppers by participating in interactive shopping games.

Abstract: One or more images of items for an order being processed at processing station of an order fulfillment center may be captured and associated with the order. Alternatively, a short video clip may be captured of the order being packaged. An electronic notification that the order has been processed may be sent to a customer associated with the order. The electronic notification may include a reference to one or more of the captured images or video clips. The customer may use a reference included in the notification to view the captured images. The customer may view captured images to verify that the order has been correctly processed. The captured images may include images of the items being packaged for shipment and may show the shipping address on the package allowing the customer to verify that indeed it is his package in the images.

The technical solution of this invention may reduce the requirements on storage and computing resources.

Abstract: A system and method track both passenger and baggage during passenger trips, improving trip security, reducing lost baggage, allowing remote baggage check-in and retrieval, and allowing billing and financial transactions among system users. A passenger identification code (PIC) identifies a passenger, a trip starting location, and both a carrier and a final destination. A baggage identification code (BIC) is assigned to each piece of a trackable baggage set. At the trip starting location the PIC and BIC are wirelessly transmitted to an integrated travel information system (ITIS) using a wireless electronic device (WED). At a trip segment end the ITIS locates the baggage set and directs it to a transportation vehicle located by the ITIS. The ITIS directs the passenger to the transportation vehicle via a WED message. The WED transmits an end-of-trip signal to the ITIS at the final destination.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system are described for tracking and managing animals and/or food products. Identification data and location data for animals is entered into a computer system. A data service provider may collect this data and transmit it to a data trustee. The data trustee may filter the data into official and non-official data, and send official data to an official database. When a public health issue arises, the government may use an identifier for a diseased animal or a location identifier to request a trace report. The data trustee may then use the official data to provide a report showing, for example, which animals have commingled with the diseased animal. Based on this report, other animals can be treated, quarantined, or slaughtered. The disclosed embodiments also may be used to facilitate commercial transactions by providing data that validates an animal's health and food quality.

Abstract: A cross-border shipping system is described. Information from a cross-border commercial transaction between a seller and a buyer for an item is accessed from an online marketplace. A virtual shipping carrier service is generated for the cross-border commercial transaction using at least one of the shipping carriers transparent to the seller and the buyer. A virtual tracking identifier is generated for the virtual shipping carrier service. The virtual tracking identifier identifies the cross-border commercial transaction and the corresponding shipping carriers.

Abstract: A system and related method are disclosed for establishing geographical communication and predicting mail delivery using mailbox-mounted devices adapted to detect delivery automatically and transmit that detection to associated electronic devices. Detection may be performed by various means including accelerometers, cameras, and magnetometers. The method includes maintaining a registry of mailbox-mounted devices, and passing communication between electronic devices used by owners of mailbox-mounted devices. The communication can include detection by the mailbox-mounted devices of mail delivery, and calculation of the postal carrier's probable route using that delivery detection.

For each distribution, the system coordinates the processes required for: (1) transporting unlabeled packages containing the product from a manufacturing location to a carrier hub; (2) printing and applying respective shipping labels to the unlabeled packages; and (3) sending the labeled packages to their various retail locations. By delegating the tasks of receiving, labeling, and shipping the packages containing the product to a single carrier, the systems and methods allow the carrier to receive the packages for continued processing without the presence of any identifying labels.

Abstract: Network-centric systems and methods for monitoring the security of a cargo container during shipment from an origination point to a destination are described. The cargo container includes a container security unit (CSU) having an electronic container identifier. As the container is loaded with various contents, a container processing system obtains produces a manifest of the contents using wireless data collection. The manifest, which also includes the container identifier, is sent to a central server for storage. As the cargo container is shipped through a port, warehouse or other shipping location, the CSU provides a status update to the central server. The status update may include a location of the cargo container, the container identifier and a status of a door seal, hazard detector and/or the like. As the cargo container arrives at its destination, another container processing system creates an arrival report of the received contents that can be compared to the manifest at the central server.

Subsequently, updates as to a flight identified in the request are transmitted at a selected rate, which may be modified automatically based on one flight characteristic, for subsequent display. In one form, the results may be presented to the user in the form of digital map having aircraft images.

Abstract: The solution to the static appointment problem is adaptive appointment scheduling, where the system can estimate the arrival time of a truck with the given information like ETA (Estimated Time of arrival) of truck and truck route traffic information, and it can adjust the appointments accordingly, to manage terminal resources efficiently and minimize the congestion. In addition, we present a new method and system to calculate and present options when planning to move or transfer from point A to point B. We are introducing a new concept where user have more defining measurable factors in route selection, with option to further optimize the result based on user preference. Other examples and methods are also given.

Abstract: A system and method for proactively monitoring the status of packages shipped by a package delivery carrier including intervening when certain conditions arise. The system identifies certain packages are requiring proactive monitoring and intervention, and monitors a variety of conditions, including system-wide impacts and package-level specific impacts, which may necessitate intervention by carrier personnel. Intervention may include various exception handling actions, including upgrading the level of service, stabilizing the temperature of the package, inspecting damage to the package. The carrier may notify the consignee or consignor of such detected conditions and may then communicate with appropriate individuals involved with the package delivery to ascertain the most appropriate action necessary. The system facilitates communicating such information to appropriate carrier personnel.

For example, in one embodiment, a courier application is executed on a mobile computing device to retrieve a list of stops associated with a courier from a computing device over a network. Abstract: A system and method for verifying receipt of a postal mail item mailed by a sender of the postal mail item is presented. Method detects whether a conductive material inside the parcel has been opened or not. The conductive material is a trace routed around the mail item in a way that makes it extremely difficult to open the mail item without breaking the conductive material. With an electronic device external to the parcel, the method energizes a communication device located in the parcel. Upon the communication device becoming energized, the method transmits from the communication device to the electronic device external to the parcel a signal that identifies if the conductive material in the parcel has been opened or not.

Abstract: A system for matching freight vehicles and loads includes a database receiving location data for various freight vehicles associated with multiple organizations, as well as other vehicle data, such as destination location and times. The database also includes location data from a plurality of loads, as well as other load data, such as origin and destination locations and times. A user operating a computing device receives this data based on organizational permissions. The computing device displays a map on which the various freight vehicles, loads, and associated data may be displayed. As such, the user may quickly and efficiently match available loads to available vehicles or vice-versa.
