Patent number: 8463616Abstract: Disclosed are methods for scheduling when to run a process to take advantage of time-varying input prices by predicting the “rank” of the current actual input price among future input prices. The rank is that portion of a future time period during which the input price will be less than the current actual input price. An “operational cutoff” is set based on the portion of time during which a process should run in order to produce a target output amount. Periodically, the actual input price is determined, and its rank is predicted. The predicted rank is then compared with the operational cutoff. If the predicted rank is below the cutoff, then it makes economic sense to run the process. Otherwise, it would be cheaper not to run the process at present but to wait a while in expectation that the input price will drop.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2002Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Invensys Systems, Inc.Inventors: Brenton A. Patent number: 8433452Abstract: A method for load control in an electrical distribution system using energy usage profiles based on temporal measurements. A load control unit (10) installed at a customer site profiles equipment (E1-En) directly connected to the load control unit and remotely located equipment (RE1-REn) wirelessly connected to the load control unit using measurements of time rather than energy usage. This reduces the cost and complexity of the load control unit. Profiling is done for individual pieces of load controlled equipment rather than for the site as a whole. This improves data resolution. The load control unit controls the load only when the equipment is powered, and adaptively synchronizes load shedding during this time, so to improve local load control performance. Termination of a load control event results in gradual reduction in load shedding so to control the inrush of demand seen by the distribution system.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2009Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Assignee: Aclara Power-Line Systems, Inc.Inventors: Christopher K. Patent number: 8412643Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for quantifying, aggregating and bundling green incentives based on green construction enables applying at least a portion of the credits/incentives to financial transactions. Quantification includes estimating and/or monitoring usage of utilities, comparing the usage to a predetermined baseline value, and valuating an effectual energy savings that includes actual savings plus incentive values. Quantification relies on a database, which may include credits, deductions, and other green incentives data that contribute to the effectual savings. The effectual savings may be applied to early repayment of a mortgage loan, improved terms for the loan, investment in securities, and/or other trading. The method standardizes values of green incentives in energy units and/or monetary units. The method aids in qualifying the building projects based on a concrete estimation of the effectual energy savings.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2009Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: EQS, Inc.Inventors: Teresa Lopez, James A. Publication number: 20130080356Abstract: According to one embodiment, an environment provider storage stores a plurality of account methods corresponding to environment providers providing service execution environments. Each account method is a method for calculating a usage fee for each service execution environment. A resource consumption storage stores a plurality of resource consumptions corresponding to run modes. Each run mode is an operation pattern for each service execution environment to execute the service. Each resource consumption is a consumption of resources of the service execution environment while executing the service in each run mode. A calculation unit calculates usage fees based on combinations of one of the account methods corresponding to the environment providers and one of the resource consumptions corresponding to the run modes. An integrated operation unit selects at least one combination of a selected environment provider and a selected run mode, based on the usage fees calculated by the calculation unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2012Publication date: March 28, 2013Inventors: Yu Kaneko, Tomonori Maegawa, Shigeo Matsuzawa

Patent number: 8407027Abstract: An online diagnostic system for a geothermal generation facility is discloses that includes an automatic steam measurement device for measuring a characteristic of steam to be supplied to a steam turbine from a steam-water separator at the geothermal generation facility that outputs analysis data. A monitor-control device controls an operation of the geothermal generation facility while monitoring the geothermal generation facility. A diagnostic device performs at least one of an evaluation of a steam characteristic at the geothermal generation facility, an evaluation of the steam-water separator, and an evaluation of pulsation and confluence of a production well based on the analysis data from the automatic steam measurement device and performance data of the geothermal generation facility from the monitor-control device. An operating status of the geothermal generation facility is diagnosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2009Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignees: Fuji Electric Systems Co., Ltd., Geothermal Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ichiro Myougan, Toshikazu Kato, Isamu Osawa, Yasuyuki Hishi, Daisuke Fukuda, Yasuto Futagoishi, Toshiaki Aoki

Patent number: 8400661Abstract: A system and method for promoting environmental behavior by device users are provided. The method includes allocating “green” points to each of a plurality of users. A job request, such as a print job request, is received from one of the users. A cost in points is computed for executing the job request, based on a formula which is designed to promote environmental behavior by the user. The user's allocated points are reduced by the computed cost when the job is performed.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2010Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Maria Antonietta Grasso, Victor Ciriza, Jutta Katharina Willamowski, Yves Hoppenot, Grégoire Gerard, Mathieu Knibiehly

Patent number: 8401974Abstract: A method, system, GUI, apparatus, and computer readable media for enabling a customer to access to a media file uploaded by a user are provided. A user profile may be generated using received login and profile information. The user profile may be hosted on, for example, a web site, SMS/MMS gateway, and a WAP site. A media file may be received from the user and may be upload to the user profile. The media file may be associated with a user account. A request to access the media file may be received from a customer. An account associated with the customer may be updated to indicate their requested access to the media file. The customer may then be enabled to access the media file. The user's account may be updated to indicate the transaction.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2009Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Clear Channel Management Services, Inc.Inventors: Chris Phenner, Lasse Hamre, Mike Park
