  • Patent number: 9165325
Abstract: Disclosed are a device, system and methods for detecting an anomaly associated with driving of a vehicle. Z-axis acceleration data is determined at the device. Based on the Z-axis acceleration data, jerk energies are computed and transmitted to the system for analysis. Further, the jerk energies are received for a plurality of trips at the system. Further, at the system, statistical analysis is performed on the jerk energies for determining a hazard rate for each trip of the plurality of trips. Then based on the hazard rate determined for each of the plurality of trips, a trend analysis is performed. Based on the trend analysis, any anomaly associated with the driving of the vehicle is detected. Further, the anomaly detected may be notified to a person associated with the device or with a monitoring terminal.

Abstract: An improved technique involves generating KBA questions from facts obtained from a personal information management (PIM) server under the control of an organization. Along these lines, such an organization acquires facts from documents such as emails, meeting notices, presentations, and spreadsheets that are stored on a PIM server such as a Microsoft® Exchange server or IBM Lotus® Domino server. A KBA server then generates KBA questions from the acquired facts and stores the KBA questions on a question server. In some arrangements, the KBA server filters out KBA questions based on the nature of the facts from which the KBA questions were derived. The remaining KBA questions are ranked based on historical question data; the KBA server provides the most highly ranked KBA questions to a user claiming to be a member of the organization.

Abstract: An insurance product provides coverage for value escalation in a highly capitalized project. One or more indices are used to obtain a quantification of volatility of the value of the project over the project lifecycle. Probabilities of value changes over the project lifecycle can be generated from an index, which can be solely representative of the project value, or can be the result of combinations of one or more indices to approximate project value changes. The project value change probabilities are used to estimate an amount of insurance coverage that can be applied to cover project value changes. The party responsible for the project can purchase the insurance product with a premium derived from the amount and type of coverage tied to the index. The insurance product assists the responsible party in containing changes in project value over the course of the project life cycle.
