Risk Analysis Patents (Class 705/7.28)
  • Patent number: 10460010
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with computing scenario forecasts according to electronic inputs are described. In one embodiment, a method includes, in response to receiving a signal that triggers data collection, collecting electronic data from one or more electronic databases by aggregating the electronic data into data structures of a processing table. The electronic data defines historic values of a set of instruments. The method also includes computing projected values for each of the set of instruments according to correlations identified in the historic values. The projected values form primary forecasts that model expected future values of the set of instruments. The method includes, in response to receiving electronic inputs including scenario variables of a scenario that affects the primary forecasts, generating scenario forecasts for the set of instruments according to the scenario variables and the projected values to identify how the scenario influences the primary forecasts.

An optimal number K of preventative maintenance time intervals tk and an indication of a possible replacement is computed and stored for each asset by minimizing a mean cost-rate value function with respect to an electrical age of the asset. A first PM schedule is formed without consideration of labor and budget resource constraints. The method further generates a second maintenance schedule for a system of assets by minimizing a deviation from the optimal PM time intervals subject to the labor and budget resource constraints.

  • Patent number: 9935865
Abstract: This technique determines the possible Service Level Agreement (SLA) violation during migrating a workload from a physical environment to a virtualized environment and also migrating a virtual machine (VM) from one physical machine to another within a virtualized environment. This technique uses capacity factor, i.e. the ratio of host physical machine (host PM) capacity and target physical machine (target PM) capacity, to determine the service rate change in the target PM compared to host PM and eventually calculates the VM utilization and response time in the target PM. It then checks if the VM utilization and response time in the target PM lies within the SLA limit. It further checks if the migration in the target virtualized PM is violating a predefined target PM utilization threshold or not and finally causes the migration in the target physical machine if all the SLA parameters are satisfied.

Abstract: Identity context-based access control is implemented by generating an identity context expression from user identity data. In particular, users are clustered based on combinations of one or more attributes. These clusters comprise one or more identity context(s). Preferably, an intersection of attribute sets of each user in the cluster is formed. In addition, an intersection of attribute sets of each user not in the cluster also is formed. If the attribute set that is common across the cluster of users is not a subset of the attribute set that is common across the rest of the users, then the attribute set forms a unique identity context expression. To reduce the number of roles used in role-based access control (RBAC), at least one role is replaced with an identity context expression. Run-time access control is then enabled.

Each data plot includes a plurality of data points such that each data point is expressable as Cartesian coordinates in terms of the at least two drilling parameters. The method further includes receiving new channel data for the current well from a wellsite computer system. In addition, the method includes creating, from the new channel data, new data points for the plurality of data plots as the new channel data is received. Moreover, the method includes updating the plurality of data plots with the new data points as the new data points are created.

Abstract: A computing system determines incremental values associated with a plurality of clustering solutions. Each of the clustering solutions groups stores of a retailer into clusters in a different way. For each clustering solution in the plurality of clustering solutions, the incremental value associated with the clustering solution indicates a difference between an estimated revenue associated with the clustering solution and revenue associated with a baseline clustering solution. The computing system then determines, based on the incremental values associated with the plurality of clustering solutions, the appropriate number of clusters. The clustering solutions that group the stores into more or fewer clusters than the appropriate number of clusters tend to be associated with incremental values that are the same or lower than the clustering solutions that group the stores into the appropriate number of clusters.

Abstract: A method for risk mitigation comprises calculating on at least one processor, a likelihood of occurrence for a risk event, a degree of disruption for the risk event and a disruption time for the risk event. Each risk event is in a list of risk events. The likelihood of occurrence is based on a frequency of risk of the risk event. The degree of disruption is based on a severity of risk of the risk event. The disruption time is based on a duration of restoring an asset to a condition prior to the risk event. A value at risk based on the likelihood of occurrence, the degree of disruption and the disruption time is determined for the risk event. A mitigation action is determined to reduce the value at risk. An indication of the mitigating action is presented on a user interface.

Abstract: A testing scheduling system for optimizing and scheduling a testing path among a plurality of available work station calculates a distance between work stations according to the coordinates of the of the available work stations, assigns a value to a quantity, and applies this to the failure rate of each work station, the backlog quantities of each work station, the test-awaited quantities, and the distances between each available work station to acquire a failure rate value, a backlog quantities value, a test-awaited quantities value, and a distances value. The testing scheduling system further calculates a first weighted value of each available work station by summing the failure rate value, the backlog quantities value, the test-awaited quantities value, and the distances value of each available work station, and analyzes the first weighted values to determine a preferred work station.
