Abstract: Methods and systems for an inferential logic engine (ILE) for an interactive product selector. In an embodiment, the interactive product selector provides a user with purchase decision questions (PDQs) regarding a product/service specified by the user. Subject matter experts familiar with the specified product/service can survey the potential user responses to PDQs, and based upon the responses, establish inferences. User selections or responses can be represented logically, and a user's selections satisfying a given logical expression can cause the ILE modify the page presentation. In an embodiment, the ILE can be integrated with a Fuzzy Logic Engine (FLE), wherein inferential information can provide additional input to an existing FLE, or can filter the outputs of an existing FLE.

Abstract: Because of the enormous number of neurons and reflex pathways involved in the control of human motion, a comprehensive identification of the structure of the feedback control circuitry is a formidable experimental task. A theoretical approach based on a carefully developed model could shed light on its likely general structure, thereby providing guidance to experimenters. This paper presents a fuzzy logic based control strategy for modeling the human postural dynamics. In particular, we develop a fuzzy controller to coordinate the movement of a three segment sagittal human model to achieve upright posture. The actuation mechanism of the system consists of six muscle like actuators which are co-activated to modulate the stiffness at the joints. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the underlying principles.

Abstract: This invention proposes a novel nonlinear filter called adaptive weighted fuzzy mean (AWFM) filter which is capable of removing high density Gaussian impulse noises in polluted images. Via a single epoch, weights of the filter are departed according to a set of fuzzy rules, which are constructed by a proposed procedure. All the fuzzy rules in the knowledge base infer concurrently for input nature estimation and filter adaptation. Statistic analyses ensure that this AWFM filtering possesses robust and consistent performance even when images are thoroughly polluted. The AWFM filter is synthesized with generic LR fuzzy cells which adopts CMOS analog current mode technology to subject high speed, low power, and small circuit area objectives. Simulations show that parallel inferences realized by the generic LR fuzzy cells, each of which performs 20 M FLIPS (fuzzy logic inferences per second) promise that the synthesized AWFM filter is able to process up to 50 256×256 images per second.

Abstract: Small, optimized sequences of binary 5-tuples, representing filter rules, which achieve space efficient packet filtering. A post-match procedure table allows dynamic and extensible packet processing. Packet filtering is accomplished by processing filter rule statements and procedure statements, entered by a user in a rules file, to generate 5-tuple filtering rules and a procedure table, and loading the filtering rules and procedure table into the filter interpreter. A filter interpreter then applies the resolved filtering rules for each packet received at the network adapter. When a filtered packet matches a rule, a specified function is invoked.

Abstract: A method of determining the visibility of a target in a background uses search time as the output. A set of images of the target in the background is made, and selected input variables in each image are measured. One version of our method additionally uses wavelet edge points as an input variable. Each input variable, as well as the output variable, has several applicable membership functions by which membership values are assigned to the variables. Choosing membership functions for variables is done by fuzzy rules. Applying the fuzzy rules and membership functions produces multiple values for the output variable. In the system, the biodata of each patient stored in the center server can be registered and viewed by any of the patient terminal, the doctor terminal, the patient and the medical staff which have been registered in the center server. The system can thus protect the privacy of each patient about the biodata and permit the biodata of each patient to be shared by two or more members of the medical staff.

Abstract: A method for detecting fires and reacting thereto. A stationary, earth orbit satellite, drone aircrafts or piloted aircraft contains infrared detectors and optical means for detecting fires. A computer in the satellite, drone or piloted aircraft and/or on the ground analyzes image signals of the areas being monitored and, upon detecting infrared radiation of varying intensity and shape, indicative that a fire has started, generates signals which are indicative of the coordinate locations of the fire, the extent of the fire, the shape of the area(s) burning, the direction of movement of the fires, the speed(s) of the flame fronts, smoke condition, intensity of the fire, fire ball location(s), etc. In one form, a camera generates image signals which are digitized and recorded. Expert system logic is used to prioritize dangerous areas to assist in directing fire fighting.

Abstract: A framework for use with object-oriented programming systems provides an expert system shell that executes with a rule set developed by a framework user. The framework includes a condition manager object that keeps track of what conditions are true at any time and a rules compiler that processes the rules so they can be used by the condition manager. The conditions are a set of object classes that are organized into an inheritance hierarchy for use by the condition manager. A detector determines when to set conditions to true. When a condition state is changed, the condition manager realizes that one or more rules might indicate a particular action might now be appropriate. Therefore, the condition manager checks the rules against the conditions each time a condition changes. The expert system developer provides the set of rules and conditions appropriate for the knowledge domain of the expert system under development.

Abstract: The fuzzy filtering of a noise signal comprising a plurality of signal samples [s(t,k)] is carried out using as variables the variation of the signal in the considered window and the distance of the samples from a sample to be reconstructed, to distinguish the typical variations of the original signal from those due to the noise and to identify the signal fronts. The method comprises the steps of defining a current signal sample [s(t)] from among the plurality of signal samples, calculating a plurality of difference samples [D(t,k)] as the difference in absolute value between the current signal sample and each signal sample and defining distance values (k) between the current signal sample and each signal sample.

It comprises a storage section having at least one output, plural outputs in most cases, and being adapted to respectively generate programming signals on such outputs; the storage section is input a plurality of supply voltage signals and is operative to produce, in connection with information stored therein, one of the supply voltage signals on each of the outputs, it being understood that one voltage signal may be produced on several such outputs. Advantageously, the processor can also be programmed in a simple manner from circuits of the digital type if switches controlled by storage elements are used in the storage section.

  • Patent number: 6263324
Abstract: A fuzzy logic processor placed in a home automation communications network manages messages traveling through the network. To manage the messages, the fuzzy logic processor works in two stages. In a first stage, on a first part of the message, the fuzzy logic processor ascertains that the message is addressed to it, according to rules by which it recognizes that it is the addressee. Once it recognizes that it is the addressee, it is also capable of producing a routing command because the address of the sender of the signal is present in the message. This routing command is applied to a multiplexer located at the input, interfacing between the fuzzy logic processor and the network in order to route data elements, constituting another part of the message, to the appropriate input of the fuzzy logic processor.

  • Patent number: 6249779
Abstract: An adaptive fuzzy feature mapping (AFFM) technique provides a method for identifying and matching a new data pattern against a set of known data patterns using a combination of distance measurements and fuzzy logic functions. Known data patterns are stored as organized nodes in a pattern map wherein each organized node is defined by one or more attribute coefficients. As distance measurement is computed between a new data pattern and each organized node of the pattern map using distance measurement wherein the organized node having the smallest distance measurement to the new data pattern receives the highest ranking. Traversing the organized nodes according to the ranking, the new data pattern is compared to each organized node using fuzzy logic functions. If the new data pattern matches an organized node based on an acceptable degree of fuzziness, the attribute coefficients of the organized node are updated to reflect those coefficients of the new data pattern.
