  • Patent number: 10970891
Abstract: Techniques are described for automatically detecting and accommodating state changes in a computer-generated forecast. In one or more embodiments, a representation of a time-series signal is generated within volatile and/or non-volatile storage of a computing device. The representation may be generated in such a way as to approximate the behavior of the time-series signal across one or more seasonal periods. Once generated, a set of one or more state changes within the representation of the time-series signal is identified. Based at least in part on at least one state change in the set of one or more state changes, a subset of values from the sequence of values is selected to train a model. An analytical output is then generated, within volatile and/or non-volatile storage of the computing device, using the trained model.

  • Patent number: 10901787
Abstract: An Artificial Intelligence (AI) based resource identification system enables identifying available resources in response to receiving a request for resources. The request attributes are mapped to the attributes of the resources in a resource pool. Matching index scores are calculated and resources that match the request can be selected based on the matching index scores. If no resources are available suitable alternate resources with lower matching index scores are suggested so that a user has the choice to filter this alternate resources based on a threshold score. Particular suggestions to change one or more of the request attributes can be provided based on analysis of the mapping of the request and the resource attributes which enables the resource identification system to suggest changes to one or more of the skill attributes, level attributes, time attributes or location attributes of the request.

  • Patent number: 10635680
Abstract: A method for ranking genealogical records includes using a machine learning model to rank multiple searched records based on relevancy. The relevancy may be determined by identifying features included in a record and scaling each feature by a corresponding weight factor. In addition, a method for training a machine learning model and increasing the convergence speed of the training is described. To train the model, a machine learning process is used to optimize a ranking performance metric. A set of weights corresponding to multiple features are used to rank multiple past search records in a training set. An initial set of the weights are set by the expectation values of the weights. The weights are incrementally changed to optimize the ranking performance metric. The step size of the increment is determined based on the sensitivity of the ranking performance metric relative to the step size.

Abstract: An example device includes a memory and one or more processors configured to receive an indication of a first set of characters, responsive to determining that a predetermined amount of time has elapsed since the indication of the first set of characters was received, execute a query generated based on the first set of characters, to determine a typing speed associated with the first set of characters, and to generate, based on the predetermined amount of time and the typing speed, an adjusted amount of time, the adjusted amount of time being different from the predetermined amount of time. The processor(s) are further configured to receive an indication of a second set of characters, and responsive to determining that the adjusted amount of time has elapsed since the indication of the second set of characters was received, execute a second query generated based on the second set of characters.

  • Patent number: 9037561
Abstract: Search systems and methods for searching structured data and enhancing the relevancy of search results provided to a requesting user or application. Enhanced search results are provided by searching a cache of a user's most recently used items to eliminate or reduce search indexing latency. Also, more relevant search results are provided by re-ranking results based on use history, data security models and/or hierarchical user role models. Further, enhanced search results are provided by including user information in the search index.

  • Patent number: 9037597
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for identifying a most recent version of an electronic file (e.g., prior to or while the electronic file is being opened). In one embodiment, an application programming interface (API), plug-in, or the like, can enable both file management tools and on-line repositories to exchange file information. Along these lines, this approach can be especially useful for common business assets such as textual documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Moreover, this approach is a “pro-active” function in that it does not require the user to consciously seek out and determine if a newer version is available. The implementation of the method performs this function automatically.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating recommendations based on data derived from a social network are described. For example, a first indirect connection of a source member profile may be identified. The first indirect connection is a member profile connected to the source member through a first connection path. A second indirect connection of the source member profile is also identified. The second indirect connection is a member profile connected to the source member through a second connection path. A selection is made between the first indirect connection and the second indirect connection based on a comparison of timing scores calculated for the indirect connections. The selected indirect connection is then surfaced to a client device associated with the source member profile.

  • Patent number: 9009130
Abstract: An affinity server estimates an affinity between two different time based media events (e.g., TV, radio, social media content stream), between a time based media event and a specific topic, or between two different topics, where the affinity score represents an intersection between the populations of social media users who have authored social media content items regarding the two different events and/or topics. The affinity score represents an estimation of the real world affinity between the real world population of people who have an interest in both time based media events, both topics, or in a time based media event and a topic. One possible threshold for including a social media user in a population may be based on a confidence score that indicates the confidence that one or more social media content items authored by the social media user are relevant to the topic or event in question.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for generating and using temporal metadata partitions. Metadata can be stored in temporal metadata partitions based upon a time range included in the metadata. Furthermore, metadata can be stored in multiple temporal metadata partitions to which the metadata is relevant. As such, metadata can be stored in manner that allows event data to be understood in the context of temporally accurate and/or relevant metadata. Functionality for executing queries of event data and providing results in view of metadata, as well as the merging of multiple temporal metadata partitions also are disclosed.

Abstract: A method for searching Web pages that begins with the identification of query criteria entered into a search provider. A set of Web pages that satisfies the query criteria are determined. Then, a page ranking is ascertained for each Web page in the set. The Web pages are presented in order by page ranking. The page ranking is based upon at least one relevancy factor that includes a browsing-time factor. The browsing-time factor can be calculated from browsing behavior exhibited by users, who provided similar query criteria. The set of users from which the browsing-time factor is calculated can include a current user, a set of users sharing characteristics with the current user, and/or a general set of users. Browsing behavior can include time spent at a Web page, where the browsed Web page is a page that was previously presented as a search result for the similar query criteria.
