Abstract: In an embodiment, a computer-implemented technique for accessing heterogeneous objects in an array is discussed. The method determines a greatest common base class hierarchically common to elements populating a heterogeneous array. A common subset of methods that is available for use with the elements is identified. The common subset of methods belongs to the greatest common base class. A method supported by the common subset of methods is called with the array as a parameter. The method operates on the array as an array consisting of greatest common base class objects.

Abstract: The automated social networking graph mining and visualization technique described herein mines social connections and allows creation of a social networking graph from general (not necessarily social-application specific) Web pages. The technique uses the distances between a person's/entity's name and related people's/entities names on one or more Web pages to determine connections between people/entities and the strengths of the connections. In one embodiment, the technique lays out these connections, and then clusters them, in a 2-D layout of a social networking graph that represents the Web connection strengths among the related people's or entities' names, by using a force-directed model.

Abstract: A system and method for workflow task routing based on cardinality of task data, or the structure of elements in a business object associated with a task. In accordance with an embodiment, a system such as a human workflow system, that allows for the definition of human workflow tasks, can include a forEach construct within a human task routing definition and a payload. In scenarios that require a plurality of task of similar type be undertaken, such as a purchase order approval involving a plurality of items and potentially different approvers, the system allows for modeling a separate routing for each of those task items (e.g. the lines in the purchase order). In each of the branches of the forEach construct, complex routing patterns, such as parallel routing, can be used. The forEach construct allows creating of looping constructs at any level deep.

  • Patent number: 8027976
Abstract: A solution is provided that allows end users to search documents in multiple remote content repositories in an enterprise environment, while maintaining security of those documents. Additionally, end users are able to search for a document without knowing which server or directory it is stored under. This is accomplished by installing a search agent on the end user's machine. The search engine collects the metadata of authorized documents located in different repositories via a web protocol (such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP) and stores them in the user's local memory as “searchable links”. This solves the enterprise content search problem through the creation of searchable links of remote content objects in an end user's local machine while allowing emerging desktop-search technology to index them.

Abstract: The present invention improves upon the authoring system for a content menu by disclosing a new interface and program control which enables a menu developer to create and to capture meta-query data in the form of a chain of Binary Attribute Relations. The Binary Attribute Relation or BAR represents a pair of attributes which serve as meta-query data for a primitive retrieval operation known as a BAR query. The BAR query exposes a primitive data relation in an external data file which forms a basic building block for the content menu. Recursive algorithms parse the BAR chain to create network segment of data and data relations to automatically create a knowledge representation known as a “database taxonomy”. The pairing of two attributes in a BAR link and the sequence of these links in a BAR chain adhere to a well-defined system of rules.

  • Patent number: 8005815
Abstract: A search engine for retrieving documents from a database including a semantic document editor that allows a user to edit an existing document by creating searchable compound words that contains information contextually relevant to the contents of the document. The editor associates the created compound words with the document to produce an enhanced document having the compounds words associated therewith. A database is provided for storing enhanced documents and a semantic query editor is provided that enables a searcher to address the database of enhanced documents with a query. The query editor receives the query and converts it into one or more compound search words that contain contextually relevant information. A search module is provided that receives the searchable compound words and locates the relevant enhanced documents that have compound words associated with the document matching the searchable compound words. An output module presents any located documents to the searcher.

  • Patent number: 8005848
Abstract: Programming mechanisms for data parsing facilitate both clear code specification and efficient execution. Declarative style code can be employed to enable clear and concise specification of data parsing. Further, an efficient parsing approach can be utilized that enables processing of a data structure without first materializing the entire structure to memory. More specifically, streaming and/or selective materialization of portions of data to memory can be employed.

In one such embodiment, the logical data object into one or more segments are divided with each segment characterized by respective start and end offsets. One or more obtained variable size data chunks are processed corresponding to the logical data object to obtain processed data chunks, wherein at least one of the processed data chunks comprises transformed data resulting from the processing. Each of the variable size data chunks is associated with a respective segment of the logical data object.

Abstract: A hybrid database can receive a hybrid query for an object having a real world analog. A feature of a set of feature records can be determined that corresponds to the object. Feature-level attribute values of the feature can be extracted from the feature records. A volumetric envelope forming an outer boundary of the feature in a volumetric storage space of the hybrid database can be determined. A set of uniquely indexed voxels can be determined. Each voxel can be a volumetric unit of the volumetric storage space that represent the volume contained by the volumetric envelope. Voxel-level semantic values can be extracted from the set of uniquely indexed voxels from voxel records. Extracted voxel-level semantic values and extracted feature-level attribute values can be combined to generate a hybrid result. The hybrid result can be conveyed to a requestor from which the hybrid query was received.
