Abstract: A computationally implemented method includes, but is not limited to: soliciting, based at least in part on a hypothesis that links one or more objective occurrences with one or more subjective user states and in response at least in part to an incidence of at least one objective occurrence, subjective user state data including data indicating incidence of at least one subjective user state associated with a user; and acquiring the subjective user state data including the data indicating incidence of at least one subjective user state associated with the user. Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a personalization search engine that receives a search query from a first user and identifies multiple portions of indexed content—where each respective portion of indexed content has metadata that matches at least one characteristic of the search query. The personalization search engine determines a relevance of each respective portion of indexed content to the first user who provided the search query. It is understood that, in various embodiments, the relevance of a portion of indexed content has to the first user who provided the search query can be based on user feedback associated with an online version of that portion of indexed content. The personalization search engine ranks the multiple portions of indexed content according to their respective relevance to the first user who provided the search query and creates a search result based on ranking the multiple portions of indexed content.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a computer-implemented technique for accessing heterogeneous objects in an array is discussed. The method determines a greatest common base class hierarchically common to elements populating a heterogeneous array. A common subset of methods that is available for use with the elements is identified. The common subset of methods belongs to the greatest common base class. A method supported by the common subset of methods is called with the array as a parameter. The method operates on the array as an array consisting of greatest common base class objects.

Abstract: A method, executed on a computing device, and a corresponding system, allow software applications to easily access data contained in a static XML document by parsing the static XML document. For each node in the XML document, a Node Offset value is determined. The Node Offset value is then stored and serves as an index offset value, where the index offset value is used by the software applications to retrieve the data contained in the static XML document.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for analyzing a document against a managed research domain are provided. In one embodiment, a managed research domain provides an infrastructure where logical statements in research documents stored in the research domain repository are quantified and semantically analyzed. A user may submit a draft research document for analysis against the managed research domain to compare the draft against the current research knowledge in particular topics. The draft research document is annotated to reflect how the logical statements in the draft compare to the statements made on similar topics in the managed research domain.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes maintaining a data store of nodes and edges and for each of one or more users: scanning items of content associated with the corresponding user node; identifying a candidate item of content; searching for matches between the candidate item of content and existing nodes; determining whether or not a match between the candidate item of content and an existing node exists; and when it is determined that at least one match exists, generating an edge from the user node to the existing node for which the best match is determined; and when it is determined that no match exists, generating a new node based on the candidate item of content, and generating an edge from the user node to the new node.

Abstract: A request is received via an input device of a computing device for a hypertext link to an item of web content rendered on a display of the computing device. It is determined whether a markup language (ML) document used to render the web content includes an existing page anchor proximate to an item reference within the ML document. The hypertext link is configured based upon the determination of whether the ML document includes the existing page anchor proximate to the item reference within the ML document. The configured hypertext link is returned in response to the request.

Abstract: A method and system for analyzing data records includes allocating groups of records to respective processes of a first plurality of processes executing in parallel. In each respective process of the first plurality of processes, for each record in the group of records allocated to the respective process, a query is applied to the record so as to produce zero or more values. Zero or more emit operators are applied to each of the zero or more produced values so as to add corresponding information to an intermediate data structure. Information from a plurality of the intermediate data structures is aggregated to produce output data.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention includes a method for centralized URL commenting, wherein user-generated comment data is extracted from web pages on a plurality of web sites. Access control parameters are also obtained from the web sites. The comment data is tagged with identifiers indicating the web sites that the comment data was extracted from, URLs indicating the web pages that the comment data are on, and authors of the comment data. The comment data is stored in a repository. Keywords are extracted from the comment data; and, the keywords are normalized. The normalizing of the keywords includes creating a single normalized keyword for multiple keywords related to the same topic, and tagging comment data that include at least one of the multiple keywords with the normalized keyword. Read access and/or write access to the repository is controlled based on the access control parameters.

Abstract: Methods and systems for receiving, mapping and structuring data from disparate systems in a healthcare environment are described. An example system for processing healthcare data includes an interface to receive input and display output, the input comprising a plurality of differently formatted healthcare messages and an identifier to identify a message type of the plurality of healthcare messages received. The example system also includes a mapper to map data of the plurality of healthcare messages to respective models based on the message type identified and a data store to store the models and corresponding mapped data.

Abstract: A method of assigning content with an entry in a directory includes parsing the content into text phrases. Mappings between each entry in the directory and information in name fields of the directory are determined. Name proposals for a phrase are determined using the mappings. Each name proposal identifies a potential match between the content and one or more entries in the directory. The content is assigned to an entry in the directory associated with a name proposal of the one or more name proposals.

Abstract: A preference extracting apparatus includes a text information obtaining section that obtains text information having correspondence with a scene being currently played when video contents having text information having correspondence with each scene is played, a keyword extracting section that extracts a keyword for measuring user's preference based on the text information, a presenting section that presents the user a fact that the keyword has been extracted, a preference value defining section that defines a preference value of the user regarding the extracted keyword in accordance with the response by the user to the presentation, a storage section that establishes correspondence between the keyword and the preference value and stores them as the user's preference information in predetermined storage means.

Abstract: Various embodiments utilize nested Iframes within a web page to allow cross domain communication. That is, various embodiments can create an embedded Iframe that shares the domain of an Iframe or web page with which communication is desired. Because the embedded Iframe shares the domain of the Iframe or web page with which communication is desired, restrictions on cross-site scripting do not inhibit communication or scripting between the domain-matched Iframe(s) and/or web page. This embedded Iframe can then provide a mechanism by which web pages or Iframes from other domains can communicate with the Iframe or web page with which the embedded Iframe shares a domain.

Abstract: In a document processing system and a document processing method, the document processing method includes the steps of: obtaining a document and dividing the document into a plurality of terms and giving a syntactic index to each of the terms; dividing the document into a plurality of sentences; selecting a key syntactic index from the syntactic indexes, and transforming each of the sentences into a preliminary key terms sequence which includes a preliminary key term corresponding to the key syntactic indexes according to the key syntactic indexes; selectively expanding the preliminary key term of a representative sentence of the document into an advanced key term; and determining at least one core candidate sentence among the sentences to generate a core abstract of the document according to the preliminary key terms and the advanced key term.

Abstract: Computer-assisted methods and systems of processing a drug information source. Characterizing the drug by the set comprising: syntax-parsed drug rule elements, adverse event data, mapped terms, and metadata. A method includes: creating a drug rule syntax; extracting metadata from the drug information source; extracting verbatim adverse event data from the drug information source; identifying drug rule content from the drug information source; mapping terms from verbatim data to a reference source; and parsing drug rule elements from at least one identified instance of drug rule content into the drug rule syntax, retaining associations between those drug rule elements that form a drug rule.

Abstract: A processor performs line-rate filtering using hardware-assisted Patricia trees. A PCAP-style filter is converted into a form that can be inserted into a Patricia tree. The PCAP filter expression is parsed and converted into disjunctive normal form (DNF). Each DNF clause of the filter is inserted into a Patricia tree. The DNF clauses are checked for overlaps and the overlapping clauses are combined when possible.

Abstract: A method and device are provided for scheduling an event. Text is detected in a text application of a computing device. The detected text includes at least one keyword from one or more types of keyword. At least one event associated with a user of the computing device to be scheduled based on the detected text is determined. The at least one event is automatically scheduled based on the detected text.

Abstract: Two or more separate physical Registry directories are presented as a single (virtual) Registry directory to an application running in a controlled execution environment called a silo. All of the operations normally available to be performed on the Registry directory can be performed on the merge directory, however, the operating system controls the level of access to the keys in the merge directory. The operating system provides the merged view of the Registry directories by a Registry filter driver. The Registry filter model provides a single callback with a notification code indicating the reason the callback was called. The types of notifications which trigger the special processing include: enumeration of a key, enumeration of the value of a key, query a key, close a key, delete a key, create or open a key or rename a key.

Abstract: Maintaining a plurality of search contexts and selecting one of the search contexts based on graphical properties of a user interface. Each of the search contexts is provided by and corresponds to one of a plurality of executing application programs. Responsive to an event, one of the search contexts is selected. In some embodiments, the search context provided by the application program having a window displayed in the foreground of the user interface is selected. Search results based on the selected search context are obtained and provided to the user.

Abstract: A system is disclosed that simplifies configuring an MES entity corresponding to a SCADA system object representing plant equipment. The system includes an equipment model builder (EMB) that receives a set of configured UCO information for a modeled piece of plant equipment in a SCADA system. The EMB extracts relevant MES information from the utilization capability object and invokes an application interface on an MES database to create a corresponding entity (e.g., a database element). Another aspect of the disclosed system and methods involves the enhancement of a SCADA system object, through a new MES facet, to support acquiring and reporting equipment status received via the SCADA system to a corresponding MES entity. A raw reason code configuration interface is provided by UCO configurator computer software executed on a computer. Each raw reason code is associated with a prioritized logical expression defining circumstances under which the reason code becomes true.

Abstract: In an information management apparatus, a data receiving section receives position data periodically from a plurality of mobile terminals. A second extracting section generates a power set to at least one position data, and generates a node composed of identification data of a user and object data as elements. A processing section registers on a node, a movement data set having as an element, at least one of the position data showing a position before movement to a position shown by the object data and the position data showing a position after the movement from a position shown by the object data. An abstracting section abstracts the object data an abstraction scheme with a priority determined according to the number of times of abstraction.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for processing documents to extract expressions and descriptions. The apparatus for processing documents includes a document collection unit, which collects documents from websites and divides each of the collected documents into a script portion and a description portion to thus generate a script document and a description document, and an expression extraction unit, which extracts expression description sentences on the basis of the description document, and extracts expressions described by the expression description sentences from the script document. According to the invention, study material, including a pair that comprises an expression to be studied and a description thereof, can be automatically constructed.

Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems implementing dynamic parsing rules are disclosed. Log data from a variety of log producers can be parsed using parsing rules to generate information about an information system. The parsing rules can include system parsing rules and custom parsing rules. A state machine can be used to detect conflicts between various parsing rules. A central server can distribute the system parsing rules and custom parsing rules to one or more remote servers for distributed processing. In a hierarchical parsing system, a first tier parser can be used to identify types of sources generating the log data. Log data from each type of log source can be sent to a second tier parser that corresponds to the type of log source.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for recommending a short message recipient. The method includes parsing history short messages of a user to generate data associated with contacts, constructing a semantic association database by using the data, identifying a critical object in a new short message text of the user, analyzing an association between the critical object and the contacts by using the semantic association database, and recommending a short message recipient to the user according to a strength of association.

Abstract: A method embodied as a web application that enables the automated construction of project teams from profiles contained in data sources accessible through the World Wide Web. The data sources may include social networks, blogs, web pages, and postings on online discussion forums. The locations of these data sources are supplied by a system administrator (during configuration and maintenance) and by registered users of the web application. The web application allows the system administrator to create a set of templates describing the kinds of roles and skills required by the users of the web application. The web application identifies potential team members referenced in the information sources and constructs a semantic network describing the skill sets and team suitability of those potential team members. The web application allows a registered user to enter the roles and capabilities required for a project team they wish to create.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and software for notification of multi-function peripheral (MFP) receive jobs are disclosed. A system provides a MFP configured to store at least one remote communication identifier, to process a MFP job associated with the at least one remote communication identifier, and to transmit, in response to an event associated with the MFP job, notification directed to the remote communication identifier. The MFP may receive the remote communication identifiers from embedded MFP jobs or may receive them from previously stored user profiles that specify notification preferences for different job types. The remote identification identifier may be, for example, an email address or a telephone number.

Abstract: Example systems and methods concern a sub-block parser that is configured with a variable sized window whose size varies as a function of the actual or expected entropy of data to be parsed by the sub-block parser. Example systems and methods also concern a sub-block parser configured to compress a data sequence to be parsed before parsing the data sequence. One example method facilitates either actually changing the window size or effectively changing the window size by manipulating the data before it is parsed. The example method includes selectively reconfiguring a data set to be parsed by a data-dependent parser based, at least in part, on the entropy level of the data set, selectively reconfiguring the data-dependent parser, based, at least in part, on the entropy level of the data set, and parsing the data set.

Abstract: A method for identifying components in figures extracts component numbers in a description section of a patent document that are coupled with a component name, and creates a component information list based on the component numbers. The method distinguishes each component number and respective positions of all the component numbers in a figure section of the patent document. The method detects a position of a cursor displayed on a display device when the figure section is being viewed. The method searches for a component name of a component number from the component information list when the cursor is positioned within a preset region around the component number, and displays the component name beside the component number in the figure section of the patent document on the display device.

Abstract: A hybrid database can receive a hybrid query for an object having a real world analog. A feature of a set of feature records can be determined that corresponds to the object. Feature-level attribute values of the feature can be extracted from the feature records. A set of uniquely indexed voxels can be determined. Each voxel can be a volumetric unit of the volumetric storage space that represents the volume of real-world geography. Voxel-level semantic values can be extracted from the set of uniquely indexed voxels from voxel records. Extracted voxel-level semantic values and extracted feature-level attribute values can be combined to generate a hybrid result. The hybrid result can be conveyed to a requestor from which the hybrid query was received.

Abstract: Systems and apparatuses are provided for analytical data processing. A system includes a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising machine readable instructions executable by the processor. The instructions include a query compiler to identify a call to a user defined function and an output expression defining an output field for the user defined function within a query and generate an output table object for the user defined function. The generated output table object contains the defined output field. The instructions further include a processing engine to execute the user defined function and populate the output field in rows into the output table object with the output of the user defined function.

Abstract: A data processing method is provided. The method comprises collecting a stream of data records received from one or more data sources connected in a communications network; dividing the stream of data records into sets of data records for parallel processing by a plurality of concurrently running tasks, wherein a first task loads a persistent index associated with a first set of data records into memory to generate an in-memory version of the first persistent index for the first set of data records; and identifying duplicate and non-duplicate data records in the first set of data records, based on searching the in-memory version of the first persistent index.

Abstract: There is described an image processing system, which makes it possible not only to prevent the system from generating printing errors, but also to increase the reuse ratio of the object. The system includes a first apparatus that generates first data for designating a first job and a second apparatus that rasterizes a plurality of objects based on the first data generated by the first apparatus so as to synthesize the plurality of objects. The first apparatus generates an object name of each of the plurality of objects by utilizing information pertaining to the concerned object. The second apparatus stores a plurality of rasterized objects into a cache memory, and registers object names into a table. The first apparatus inquires whether object names of rasterized objects to be used in the next job are registered in the table from the second apparatus, to add an unregistered object to data.

Abstract: A background process retrieves enterprise data and syndicates podcasts created from the enterprise data to subscribed devices such as portable media player, mobile devices, and personal computers. A data to text converter converts the retrieved enterprise data to text and a text to audio converter converts the text from the data to text converter to an audio file. A multimedia file store is used to store the audio file.

Abstract: An electronic document and associated system, methods and apparatus is described. The electronic document is loaded in a user device configured to communicate with an external device that generates instructions for augmenting content contained in the electronic document with links to contextually relevant information. The content can be augmented with one or more user interface elements, and the augmented content can be displayed with one or more attributes which can be selected by a document author. The document author can mark or otherwise designate one or more portions of the electronic document to be excluded from the augmenting process.

Abstract: A receiving system and a data processing method are disclosed. The receiving system includes a receiving unit, a demodulator, a first handler, a second handler, and a third handler. The receiving unit receives a broadcast signal comprising fast information channel (FIC) data, transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, and mobile service data packetized into an RS frame. The demodulator demodulates the broadcast signal. The first handler configures an ensemble from the RS frame, so as to acquire first signaling information including access information of the mobile service. The second handler receives second signaling information of the mobile service, so as to acquire content identification information of a second data type from the received second signaling information. And, the third handler extracts a mobile service identifier and a content identifier of a first data type from the first signaling information and constructs content identification information of a second data type.

Abstract: Service resource items for use in call setup in a telephone system are held on servers that are connected to a computer network which is logically distinct from the telephone system infrastructure; this computer network may, for example, make use of the Internet. Each service item is locatable on the network at a corresponding URI and is associated with a particular telephone number. A mapping is provided between telephone numbers and the URIs of associated service resource items. When it is desired to access a service resource item associated with a particular telephone number, this mapping is used to retrieve the corresponding URI which is then used to access the desired service resource item.

Abstract: An anti-spam technique for protecting search engine ranking is based on mining search engine optimization (SEO) forums. The anti-spam technique collects webpages such as SEO forum posts from a list of suspect spam websites, and extracts suspicious link exchange URLs and corresponding link formation from the collected webpages. A search engine ranking penalty is then applied to the suspicious link exchange URLs. The penalty is at least partially determined by the link information associated with the respective suspicious link exchange URL. To detect more suspicious link exchange URLs, the technique may propagate one or more levels from a seed set of suspicious link exchange URLs generated by mining SEO forums.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for comparing portions of document text with potential citation components, determining if individual portions correspond to a citation component, and determining if a set of portions correspond to a valid citation pattern. A set of valid citation patterns is provided. Each citation pattern may include a specified combination of citation components. The invention further relates to identifying potential citation components from text in a document, analyzing a pattern of the identified citation components by comparing the pattern to a set of stored citation patterns to determine if the potential citation is a type of citation, and if so, is it a valid (and/or invalid) citation pattern. Once citation patterns have been determined in the document, annotations may be inserted into the document, and subsequent action may be taken, for example, generating a list of citations, providing research services, error-handling, and/or providing other options related to the citations.

Abstract: A financial analysis program includes an object oriented architecture having a number of abstract classes associated with performing financial calculations. The abstract classes include an instruments class that defines a number of financial instruments in a hierarchical manner. The abstract classes also include a models class that defines a number of objects or functions used to perform financial calculations. The program also includes an interface to allow a user to pass instrument parameters to the objects or functions and execute the object or function using the instrument parameters.

Abstract: An agent based system assists in preparing an individual for an upcoming meeting by helping him/her retrieve relevant information about the meeting from various sources based on preexisting information in the system. The system obtains input text in character form indicative of the target meeting from a calendar program that includes the time of the meeting. As the time of the meeting approaches, the calendar program is queried to obtain the text of the target event and that information us utilized as input to the agent system. Then, the agent system parses the input meeting text to extract its various components such as title, body, participants, location, time etc. The system also performs pattern matching to identify particular meeting fields in a meeting text.

Abstract: A method and system for managing semantic and syntactic metadata. Heterogeneous data is received. After the heterogeneous data is received, the semantic metadata associated with the received heterogeneous data is captured and syntactic metadata associated with the received heterogeneous data is captured. The semantic metadata describes contextually relevant or domain-specific information about data based on an industry-specific or enterprise-specific metadata model or ontology. The syntactic metadata included grammatical rules and structural patterns governing an ordered use of formats and arrangement pertaining to specified data. The received heterogeneous data and said captured semantic metadata and said syntactic metadata are logically linked. The heterogeneous data is stored in a repository.

Abstract: The present invention disclose a method and device for realizing the statistic operation of short message performance, wherein the method comprises: writing a statistic item and a statistic condition corresponding to the statistic item into a configuration file; saving the statistic item and the statistic condition in the configuration file to a memory; parsing the call record information saved in the memory according to the statistic item and the statistic condition, and generating statistic data. The present invention directly embodies the statistic item and statistic condition in the configuration file, which not only is convenient for maintenance and modification, but also shortens development time and reduces maintenance cost.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of processing a request by a server computer system begins with a step of receiving an object. The object comprises the request, an exception criterion, and a recovery operation. The method continues with a step of determining that the server computer system is unable to fulfill the request due to an exception which meets the exception criterion. The method concludes with a step of applying the recovery operation to resolve the exception. In an embodiment, the server computer system comprises a resource management system for a shared computing environment and the object comprises a resource request object. The resource request object comprises a resource request, the exception criteria, and the recovery operation. The resource request indicates resources requested from the shared computing environment by a start time and for a time period.

Abstract: Techniques for global single instance segment-based indexing are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for global single instance segment-based indexing for backup data. The method may comprise dividing an item being backed up into segments, generating a fingerprint for each segment, and saving an entry for each segment in an index database. Each entry may comprise the fingerprint for the segment.

Abstract: Users of a social networking system post questions for other users to answer. Questions are automatically tagged based on keywords extracted from text within the posted questions as well as user-selected tags. Answers may be voted on and sorted by social information related to the browsing user. Affinities for tags are recorded based on users' interactions with the question and answer service. Affinities for tags may also be used to target questions to other users and sort answers.

Abstract: An apparatus for creating a data table of a forensic data, includes a data parser configured to create primary data tables including unique attributes of the predetermined keywords by parsing the raw data having different formats for each forensics tool, each attribute having a unique standardized format. The apparatus further includes a data filter filtering specific fields or attributes from the primary data tables to newly create secondary data table. The apparatus further includes a data relation analyzer analyzing a relation between the data within the primary data tables to newly create secondary data tables.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for updating a named entity dictionary or a mining rule database using the named entity dictionary and a mining rule combined with an ontology schema is provided.
