Data Mining Patents (Class 707/776)
  • Patent number: 8452725
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods, systems, and tools for knowledge processing by building maps of ontological subjects for compositions or the contents accompanying a request for service by a user. In one embodiment of the invention the method assigns and calculates an ontological subject power spectrum to each composition or ontological subject. The resulting power spectrum and the adjacency matrix of the map are used to evaluate the merits of the compositions in the context of reference universes. It is also used as a research guiding tool for knowledge discovery. The invention serves knowledge seekers, knowledge creators, inventors, discoverer, as well as general public by assisting and guiding users to assess their work, identify their unknowns, optimize their research trajectory, and provide higher quality contents. The method and system, thereby, is instrumental in increasing the speed and efficiency of knowledge acquisition, discovery, retrieval, as well as faster learning and problem solving.

Abstract: Computer-storage media, methods, and systems for improving the ability of a user to accomplish a task that is pending during a search session are provided. This pending task can be distilled by identifying a current searching intent associated with a recently submitted query and by determining which candidate tasks are most comparable to the current searching intent of a user. The candidate tasks are mined from a search history of the user by categorizing those navigation events that appear to share a semantically common concept. Upon performing a comparison, the candidate task that captures the user's true current searching intent is designated as the pending task. When a user invokes the pending task, a collection of elements that are associated with the pending task are dynamically organized into a sharable content page, thereby providing a collaborative experience that involves exposing the collection to contacts and accepting feedback therefrom.

  • Patent number: 8346802
Abstract: A computer implemented method for inferring a probability of a first inference absent from a database at which a query regarding the inference is received. Each datum of the database is conformed to the dimensions of the database. Each datum of the plurality of data has associated metadata and an associated key. The associated metadata includes data regarding cohorts associated with the corresponding datum, data regarding hierarchies associated with the corresponding datum, data regarding a corresponding source of the datum, and data regarding probabilities associated with integrity, reliability, and importance of each associated datum. The query is used as a frame of reference for the search. The database returns a probability of the correctness of the first inference based on the query and on the data.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for inferred user identity in content distribution. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for inferred user identity in content distribution includes retrieving a set of data of a particular classification from a data store of a computing device of an unidentified user requesting access to content in a content distribution system. The method further includes comparing the set of data of the particular classification to known patterns of data of the particular classification corresponding to different known users. The method yet further includes inferring an identity of the unidentified user based upon at least a partial matching of the compared set of data of the particular classification and known patterns of data of the particular classification. Finally, the method includes managing user interactions of the unidentified user based upon the inferred identity.

Abstract: A new process called a vector approximation graph (VA-graph) leverages a tree based vector quantizer to quickly learn the topological structure of the data. It then uses the learned topology to enhance the performance of the vector quantizer. A method for analyzing data comprises receiving data, partitioning the data and generating a tree based on the partitions, learning a topology of a distribution of the data, and finding a best matching unit in the data using the learned topology.
