Abstract: The preferred embodiment of the invention distributes, and effectively caches, information by inserting it into file handles that the proxy sends to clients. This information can be used to improve performance by eliminating the need for the proxy to generate additional requests to the server to establish file identity. The distributed information can also be intended to improve security, for example, by allowing the proxy to encode into the file handle a session key that expires after some amount of time.

Abstract: A method of answering a query includes deconstructing documents into path segments. Identical path segments from different documents are arranged contiguously to form a set of partitions, where each partition has identical path segments. The structure of a query is then analyzed to find a match with a document. Based upon the analysis, a sub-set of partitions is selected for searching. Content from the query is compared to content within the sub-set of partitions to identify matched content. The matched content has associated structural attributes. The matched content structural attributes are compared to the structure of the query to identify an answer to the query.

Abstract: A system and a method for managing user and data profiles utilizing a web-enabled interactive database to organize, store and retrieve the information to create a consistent security model through centralized administration, are disclosed. The system captures various rules and pre-determined methodologies to provide on-line, up-to-date decisions to the users when users request access to a set of specific data or an application. The system further provides the capability to the user to request access to information that the user currently does not have access to, tracks the status of the request, obtains approval/disapproval decision from the data owner, implements the decision, and notifies requester within a reasonable time.

Abstract: Generating in a computer system and deploying a data model of a plurality of database cluster configuration availability solutions over a computer network by creating a database cluster configuration modeling specification including objects contained in a unified model language diagram providing a definition of a database cluster configuration data model. Creating the database cluster configuration data model using the database cluster configuration modeling specification and upon receiving signals from a graphical user interface or from XML batch data files or from application programming interfaces, indicating the definition of the cluster configuration model.

Abstract: A method for presenting contact information that includes receiving a search request for the contact information and retrieving a result set comprising a plurality of contacts corresponding to the search request, wherein each contact comprises a plurality of common contact data fields. The method also includes, for each common contact data field in the result set, determining a differentiating factor for the common contact data field, and selectively displaying at least one value of the common contact data field based on the differentiating factor.

Abstract: An effective means for building an interlocking trees datastore from multiple data sources that contained within the datastore the knowledge of the origin of the data was needed, and is thus described herein. Should it be desired or necessary to identify the different sources of data within the Kstore data structure, the present invention teaches how an additional field for the origin of the data is created, how the origin of the data is stored in that newly created field, and how the interlocking trees data store takes that field and creates nodes within the structure, therefore embedding the origin information within the knowledge contained in the Kstore data structure.

Abstract: A technique is disclosed for identifying impact of database changes on an application. Given a proposed database change, affected source code is identified that is affected by the proposed database change. References to the affected source code are created and organized into a hierarchy. A user can ascertain the extent of the impact by viewing the hierarchy and by using the hierarchy to access and view the affected source code in a visually distinct manner.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for performing client-side Java content transformation is presented. A first client request is received at a gateway from a web client, and is transmitted from the gateway to a web server, and then the web page is received at the gateway from the web server. At the gateway, the web page is modified to request a content transformation application and is transmitted from the gateway to the web client. A request is received at the gateway for the content transformation application, and the gateway transmits the content transformation application to the client. The content transformation application is run on the client, wherein the content transformation application acquires the applet requested by the client and performs content translation on the applet, resulting in a content transformed applet, which is then run by the client.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for reducing the size of one or more keys encoded into a link to a target resource. The method of one embodiment comprises receiving a request for a target resource, encoding a link to the target resource with one or more key/value pairs and selecting a given key/value pair from among the one or more key/value pairs to identify a key. The key is located in a key map to identify a substitute key, which replaces the key in the link.

Abstract: A system and method operable to cache and retrieve flight availability data. System components are a cache database for storing flight availability data, an airline cache control for configuring the cache database for a plurality of airlines, a subscriber cache control for configuring the cache database for a plurality of subscribers, and a cache query utility for interacting with the cache database. Additional system components are a data display utility for displaying flight availability data stored in the cache database, a success rate utility for tracking statistics associated with use of the cache database, and a dual mode processing utility that allows access to flight availability data from either the cache database or a real-time response. The system is provided as an intermediary between the subscribers and a plurality of airline servers.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for defining and justifying policy requirements includes: a hierarchical regional mapping (HRM) module provides a common language and a hierarchical model for geography and for jurisdictions; a legal references library (LRL) module contains applicable legal references; a legal references policy mapping (LRPM) module maps legal references to policies; and a requirements cross-checking (RCC) module cross-checks information in the legal references policy mapping module.

Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus for establishing a wide area GNS. The key points for implementing the wide area GNS are GNS information sharing among sites and maintaining cache consistency. In a system having the wide area GNS functionality, NFS clients may need to gain access to remote file systems, which may result in prolonged delays. Even worse, network file system protocol may not be able to penetrate firewalls. To solve these problems a cache technology is applied. Once cache mechanism is deployed, cache consistency control is implemented. More specifically, the situation when the NFS client opens a cached file at a remote site, and NFS client would like to write data to an original file.

Abstract: In response to a contents data transmission request from a user terminal, a contents storage server encodes a contents data meeting the transmission request by vector coding or hierarchical coding and transmits the encoded contents data to the user terminal. The user terminal having received the encoded data notifies a charging server of information on a resolution selected by the user and then receives information needed for a corresponding decoding process from the charging server. The charging server carries out a charging process based on the received information on the resolution.
