Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are directed to methods and systems for creating a medical image database, wherein data which comprise partial images of two-dimensional or higher-dimensional initial images of parts of the human body are created, a projection for obtaining feature vectors is created from the partial images, wherein, in order to prepare the execution of the projection, a neural network based on specified learning partial images is created, wherein the data records are used within the scope of a metric learning method to learn the projection and creation of the feature vectors from learning partial images. This is achieved for example by specifying learning partial images that are slightly shifted, rotated, skewed or stretched relative to one another and were created starting from the same initial image as similar.

Abstract: A system for crowdsourcing annotations for transactions includes a crowdsourcing annotation database and a processor. The database stores crowdsourced annotations associated with merchants. The crowdsourced annotations are shared among, and contributed by, users of a community. The processor receives transaction data for a transaction by a user with a merchant. Relevant crowdsourced annotations associated with the merchant are retrieved from the database and sent to the user to enable to the user to annotate the transaction. The user provides an annotation for the transaction. The system dynamically updates the database based on the annotation provided by the user.

Abstract: A method of intelligently transforming a digital asset for a target environment is disclosed. Asset data describing the digital asset is received. The received asset data is analyzed to determine a classification type for the digital asset. A database is communicated with to request additional data associated with the determined classification type. The additional data includes semantic data associated with the classification type. The additional data is compared to the received asset data. The comparing includes determining missing data and conflicting data. The missing data includes data from the additional data which is absent from the asset data. The missing data is added to the asset data.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and a method for generating an avatar based on trip information. The program and method include determining that one or more criteria associated with a user correspond to a trip taken by the user during a given time interval; retrieving a plurality of media generated by a client device of the user during the given time interval; automatically selecting a plurality of avatar customizations to represent the trip based on the plurality of media generated by the user during the given time interval; automatically generating a trip-based avatar for the user based on the plurality of avatar customizations; and causing display of the trip-based avatar.

Abstract: According to a peer-to-peer protocol, a peer-to-peer network includes multiple clubs and multiple peers that receive content distributed by a source of the network. Each of the plurality of peers is part of at least two of the clubs. As content is generated, the source divides the content into multiple data blocks and assigns each data block to a club. Each data block is transmitted to peers that belong to the club assigned to the data block. When a peer in a club receives a data block assigned to that club, the peer distributes the data block to other peers in the club. Additionally, the peer transmits the data block to peers in other clubs. Also, the peer receives data blocks assigned to other clubs from peers that are not members of the club.

Abstract: According to a peer-to-peer protocol, a peer-to-peer network includes multiple clubs and multiple peers that receive content distributed by a source of the network. Each of the plurality of peers is part of at least two of the clubs. As content is generated, the source divides the content into multiple data blocks and assigns each data block to a club. Each data block is transmitted to peers that belong to the club assigned to the data block. When a peer in a club receives a data block assigned to that club, the peer distributes the data block to other peers in the club. Additionally, the peer transmits the data block to peers in other clubs. Also, the peer receives data blocks assigned to other clubs from peers that are not members of the club.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for low-latency browsing on a device with limited processing resources are provided. In this regard, content may be retrieved and processed by a server on behalf of a client device, and the server may communicate the processed content to the client device. In processing the content, the server may process a portion of the content that will initially be displayed in a browser window by the client before processing one or more other (e.g., remaining) portion(s) of the content. The processed portion that will initially be displayed in the browser window may be communicated to the client device while a another portion of the content is processed by the server. In this manner, a user does not have to wait for an entire web page to be processed before at least a portion of the web page is viewable in the browser window.

Abstract: Methods and a media system and storage system for cross-media storage coordination include but are not limited to storing a first data version of specified content based on a particular media format: storing at least a second data version of related content based on a different media format: providing a cross-reference between the first data version and the at least second data version to enable coordinated management by a designated user and/or an approved device for search and possible retrieval of the first data version and/or the at least second data version: and implementing communication access by one or more parties and/or the designated user via a communication type that is correlated with the first data version and/or the at least second data version.

Abstract: A method and system for utilizing metadata to search for media, such as multimedia and streaming media, includes searching for the media, receiving results, extracting metadata associated with the media, enhancing the extracted metadata, and grouping the search results in accordance with attributes of the enhanced metadata. Enhancing and grouping include adding related metadata to the database of metadata, iteratively using metadata to search for more media related data, removing duplicate URLs, collapsing URLs that are variants of each other, and masking out superfluous terms from URLs. The resultant metadata and media files are available to users and search engines.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for making a playlist available to the public. In another embodiment, the present disclosure provides a method for creating a playlist comprising user-defined descriptor information. At least one embodiment is a method for searching media content based on identification data embedded in an editing file. The method comprises receiving the editing file and extracting identification data from the editing file, wherein the identification data is uniquely associated with particular media content. The method further comprises searching one or a plurality of media content based on the identification data and identifying matching media content, performing a secure download of the identified media content, and performing playback of the media content based on special effects specified in the editing file, wherein the media content is unmodified during playback.

Abstract: A method for controlling multimedia data corresponding to at least one multimedia area included in content created by a content creator based on the state in which the content is displayed through a screen of a user terminal, includes the steps of: (a) creating information on the multimedia area to activate a specific multimedia data among the multimedia data if the specific multimedia area among the all the areas included in the content is displayed on the screen of the user terminal; (b) recording the content in connection with the information on the multimedia area; and (c) providing the recorded content to the user terminal if a request for viewing the content is received from the user terminal. With this method, the user may create the content systematically.

Abstract: A method and system for handling media at a communication entity, wherein the media is associated with a communication session that is capable of entering an active state and an inactive state. The method comprises determining when the communication session is in an inactive state, causing the media associated with the communication session to be stored when the communication session has entered an inactive state, and causing the stored media to be conveyed to a user of the communication entity upon determination that the communication session has re-entered an active state.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for training scoring models. One method includes storing data identifying a plurality of positive and a plurality of negative training images for a query. The method further includes selecting a first image from either the positive group of images or the negative group of images, and applying a scoring model to the first image. The method further includes selecting a plurality of candidate images from the other group of images, applying the scoring model to each of the candidate images, and then selecting a second image from the candidate images according to scores for the images. The method further includes determining that the scores for the first image and the second image fail to satisfy a criterion, updating the scoring model, and storing the updated scoring model.

Abstract: A method of sequencing and scheduling web resources, via a software application that collects URLs and feeds them to a Web browser, so that the amount of clicks and decisions are reduced when browsing the Internet. The method begins after a computer user with Net-access encounters a URL that leads to a collection of other URLs that the software application has arranged to be presented in a continuous, show manner. This collection of resources then plays automatically, going from one resource to the next without the user being required to make a decision or click. The decision-making process is not inhibited, it is made optional. A method of inserting full-screen advertising, public service announcements, news, etc. has been developed. The server software application module described herein allows a publisher to stream URLs to a user who does not have the client-side software.

Abstract: Techniques for indexing multimedia data simultaneous with its capture to convert a real world event into an accessible database in real time are provided. The present invention introduces a new paradigm of converting a real world event in real time into a rich multimedia database by processing data from multiple cameras observing the event. Real time analysis of the camera data, coupled with domain knowledge, results in instant indexing of multimedia data at capture time itself. This yields the semantic information to answer complex queries about the content, and the ability to extract portions of data that correspond to complex actions performed in the real world.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for defining a data structure for representing a media file imported into a media-editing application. The method defines a reference to an original version of a media file. The method defines references to one or more transcoded versions of the media file. Each of the transcoded versions has a different resolution. The method defines a set of metadata storing information regarding the media file. In some embodiments, the media file includes both audio and video. The method defines a video clip data structure for the media file that references the first data structure and an audio clip data structure for the media file that also references the asset data structure. The method defines a media clip data structure that contains the video clip data structure and the audio clip data structure. The media clip data structure is for editing into a composite video presentation.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for correlating metadata from a plurality of different sources. The methods and apparatus may use an order for the data sources. The metadata from each of the data sources may be divided or split into one or more chunks. The metadata from each of the chunks may be filtered and sorted, e.g., to ensure that the metadata relate to the same multimedia content. The metadata chunks from the first data source in the order and the second data source in the order may then be aligned to produce currently aligned metadata. The metadata data chunks from the next data source in the order may then be aligned with the currently aligned metadata to produce new currently aligned metadata. This process may be repeated until the metadata from all of the sources are aligned, thereby providing a set of correlated metadata.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for adjusting confidence scores of image labels for images. In one aspect, a method includes accessing images stored in an image data store, the images being associated with respective sets of labels, the labels describing content depicted in the image and having a respective confidence score that is a measure of confidence that the label accurately describes the content depicted in the image; selecting a first image from the images and determining for each of the other images and independent of the labels, a proximity score that is a measure of a relatedness of the other image to the first image; and adjusting the set of labels associated with the first image based on the respective proximity scores of the other images and the confidence scores of the labels of the other images.

Abstract: A system and method for transacting retrieval of inventory data, such as real estate property listing(s), over an information network and dynamically transmitting the listing(s), in near or real time, to one or more subwindows of a web browser window. The listings contain customized rendering instructions that are encoded into an inventory data string and sent to an ad server that renders the listings in the subwindow according to the customized rendering instructions.

Abstract: An apparatus and method allowing for high-quality data acquisition and playback processing based on content information transmitted from a server to a client are provided. Property information constituting meta-information corresponding to content-associated attribute information stores data-scheme information on original content held by the server, such as file format information, codec information representing an encoded-data scheme, and resolution information. In response to a content information acquisition request from the client, content information including the data-scheme information on the original content is generated and is transmitted to the client. This structure allows the client to output a content transmission request in which the optimum data scheme is determined based on the data scheme of the original content. Therefore, high-quality data acquisition and playback can be achieved.

Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for managing the identity of media content data. A server node processes metadata associated with a plurality of media content data files to generate a corresponding master identifier for each of the media content data files. A client node then provides the server node a first set of metadata corresponding to a media content data file that has no associated master identifier. In turn, the server node processes the first set of metadata to identify a corresponding master identifier and a second set of associated metadata, which it provides to the client node. The client node processes the second set of metadata to identify a matching set of metadata stored in its database of identification data and metadata. If found, the client node associates the master identifier with a second media content data file corresponding to the matching set of metadata.

Each media presentation is typically associated with a digital media asset. Abstract: An approach is provided for initiating generation of a media compilation based on one or more sampling criteria. A sampling platform determines at least one subset of one or more media items captured of at least one event. The sampling platform also partitions the at least one subset of the one or more media items into one or more bins and generates at least one compilation of the at least one subset of the one or more items based, at least in part, on whether the one or more media items in the one or more bins at least substantially meet one or more sampling criteria.

Abstract: A particular method includes identifying, at a portable computing device, media content that is accessible from a remote computing device via a network. The method includes receiving user input associated with a particular media content item of the identified media content. The user input indicates selection of a send media to a second device option associated with the particular media content item. The method includes generating a message in response to the user input, wherein the message includes information identifying the particular media content item. The method also includes sending the message from the portable computing device to an application server that provides media content to a set top box device. In response to the message, the application server sends information to the second device that causes the set top box device to automatically play the particular media content item.

The communication interface is further adapted to receive information that identifies a second media item, wherein location information associated with the second media item is associated with the identified geographic area. The user device further comprises a user interface adapted to present, via the user device, the information that identifies the second media item.

The profile creation module automatically creates a new profile without user input in response to determining that a profile associated with the one or more individuals does not exist. The profile selection module selects at least one profile associated with the one or more individuals. The media control module controls media that is available for selection on the media player based one or more of media usage information and content restriction rules of the at least one profile.

Abstract: Arrangements are provided which improve the efficiency of the synchronization process. The same ensure that synchronizations of large quantities of content can be completed with a minimum of delay. One method prioritizes the various tasks that are to be performed prior to synchronization. Another method initiates dependent tasks while parsing a synchronization tasks list. Yet another method allows modification of an in-process synchronization operation to allow new synchronization tasks to be accomplished within the context of the same process, negating the need to restart synchronization.

Abstract: Suggestions can be automatically provided to a user to enable a user to tag various electronic files or objects without having to think up or manually enter the tags. A tag suggestion algorithm can analyze various types of information, such as location, time of day, objects or persons associated with the file, and tags generated by other users for that type of file. A user can be presented with a list of suggested tags, and can select one or more tags to apply to the file. Once at least one tag is applied to a file, a user can perform a tag-inclusive search to locate that file.

Abstract: The present invention provides a media file management system and method for a home media center, which enable media files such as images or photos, music and movies included in a variety of information appliances to be conveniently edited on a screen of a display apparatus connected to a home media center. Then, if a user selects a file edit command for a media file displayed in the search window, the selected file edit command is executed and results of the execution of the file edit command are displayed in the edit window.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for editing a composite presentation in a media-editing application. The method receives a media file to import into the media-editing application from an external device. The method creates a set of media clip data structures to represent the media file. At least one of the data structures references the media file on the external device. Before the media file is imported from the external device, the method uses the media clip data structure to edit a composite presentation with the media file. After the media file is imported from the external device, automatically modifying the data structure to refer to a copy of the media file on a local device.

Abstract: A method and system for distributing content from a server computer to a number of client computers is disclosed. A file to be distributed to a requesting client computer is identified. If another client computer of the plurality of client computers can distribute the file to the requesting client computer, the requesting client computer requests the file from the other client computer. If no client computer can distribute the file to the requesting client computer, the requesting client computer requests the first file from the server computer. Then the requesting client computer receives the first file from either the other client computer or the server computer. Each client computer can act both as a client and a server to the other client computers, providing content that would otherwise be provided by the server computer.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses provide real-time or near real-time streaming of content using transfer protocols such as an HTTP compliant protocol. In one embodiment, a method includes providing a request for a playlist file (e.g. an updated playlist) and specifying a compression protocol with or for the request; the request can come from a client device which is requesting the playlist from a web server. The web server can provide the playlist in a compressed format.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example network device having a controller to receive multiple streams of content for portions of a multimedia work, perform a high level analysis for features in each of the streams for the multimedia work, perform a specialized analysis on the portion having a detected general feature to generate a content analysis output, correlate the content analysis output with other content analysis of the multimedia work, and output a weighted content description based on the correlation function. Thus, a time taken to process and transmit the multimedia data can reduce.
