Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying, assessing and clearing conflicts of interest are described herein. Consistent with some embodiments, a conflicts management system receives a conflict search request, and processes the request utilizing a risk matrix that encompass and represents the risk tolerance or risk profile of a law firm. The risk matrix maps certain request types to different search queries and rules that are to be evaluated for a given request type. Based on the execution of the queries and the rules for the request, a score is assigned to a party, such that the score represents the level of risk that would be undertaken if the party was engaged as a client.

A computer-implemented natural language processor electronically receives a natural language input phrase from an interface device. The natural language processor attributes a concept to the phrase with the natural language processor. The natural language processor searches a database for a set of documents to identify one or more documents associated with the attributed concept to be included in a response to the natural language input phrase. The natural language processor maintains the concepts during an interactive session with the natural language processor. The natural language processor resolves ambiguous input patterns in the natural language input phrase with the natural language processor. The natural language processor includes a processor, a memory and/or storage component, and an input/output device.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method and apparatus for information retrieval in scenarios where the relation between contents and user has a multilingual nature. The problem of content access subsists when the user does not have a standard capacity in the language of contents. The invention proposes a system so that access accounts for the user's variable linguistic capacity in the language of contents, and metrics and additional information can be generated which make possible an optimized access. The user's linguistic capacity is measured by applying the information of a linguistic knowledge base, personalized or predefined. The metrics computed include suitability predictors for the functions of understanding, learning and reviewing. The additional information supplements the deficits in user's knowledge for the toughest contents, and provides a method for improvement through the progressive training of the knowledge base.

The filter condition is converted to a normalized filter condition by analyzing a semantic context of one or more member sets in the filter condition, converting the one or more member sets into a normal form and replacing logical operators between the one or more member sets with normalized operators. The normalized filter condition along with the result object and the data source is then translated to a multi-dimensional database query in a second format.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for receiving a natural language query. The natural language query is parsed into a plurality of base concepts. One or more base concepts chosen from the plurality of base concepts is processed to define a selected report template. The selected report template is selected from a plurality of default report templates. At least one of the base concepts chosen from the plurality of base concepts is mapped to a data field within data via a mapping dictionary. The data includes a plurality of records. A query is executed on at least a portion of the data to identify a result record set. The result record set defines at least a portion of the plurality of records.

Abstract: The present invention provides a technique for determining a search range using metadata that is associated with information (file) of an image as well as determining granularity of the search range based on a unit of numerical information included in a query when a file is searched from a database. More particularly, an information search apparatus searches a plurality of files that include numerical information. As a query for determining the search range, a first numerical value and a keyword are input, a unit of the first numerical value is determined, the second numerical value of the unit that corresponds to the keyword is acquired, and a file included in the search range that is determined based on the first the second numerical values is searched from the plurality of files.

Abstract: Search devices, methods, and programs store information that pertains to a search object in association with a first character string and a second character string that are used to search for the search object. When a search for the search object is performed, the devices, methods, and programs read from the first storage portion the first character string and the second character string for the search object and store the read first character string and the read second character string. The devices, methods, and programs receive the input of a character string for searching for the search object. When the character string is input by the input portion, the devices, methods, and programs search the second storage portion for and present one of the first character string and the second character string that begin with a character string that matches the input character string.

Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to provide one or more potential solutions to a user solicited from a community of wisdom, wherein such solutions are not only relevant to addressing a problem raised by the user, but are also customized to the specific needs and preferences of the user based on the user's profile. Such an approach enables a personalized “agent” who understands the user's specific needs and interests by maintaining a personal profile of the user. Based on such in-depth personal knowledge and understanding, the agent is capable of soliciting, customizing, and presenting the solutions from an online community to the user that specifically address his/her problem or concern.

Abstract: Information retrieval systems and methods are provided based on interactive user notes. Information is retrieved from one or more data sources based on user notes by obtaining the user notes containing one or more information requests; identifying the one or more information requests from the user notes; interpreting at least one of the information requests in context; generating one or more queries required for the at least one interpreted information request; identifying an update to the user notes, the update containing one or more updated information requests; and processing the updated user notes to generate one or more queries required for the updated information requests. If the user notes contain multiple information requests, at least one query is generated for each of the plurality of information requests. The information requests can be interpreted based on user-specified context guides.

A visual object may be provided as an input. A group of visual objects sharing keywords with the visual object may be generated for further analysis. The visual similarity of this group of visual objects may then be determined using computerized visual analysis. A group of visual objects that have the highest similarity rank, as determined by the computerized visual analysis, may then be displayed.

Abstract: A query profiling system and associated operating methods implement a database query profiler. The illustrative database system comprises a parser, a query model, a catalog manager, a binder and view rewriter, and a query analyzer. The parser parses statements by checking syntax of a statement according to a structured query language (SQL) grammar and representing the statements in a syntax-oriented internal format. The catalog manager processes data definition SQL statements (DDL) that are transformed to the internal representation; transform the representations of the DDL to database objects abstractions; groups the database objects into a Catalog. The binder and view rewriter take the internal representations obtained by parsing workload queries (data manipulation SQL statements or DML) and rewrite table references by their corresponding View definitions; bind database object references to their actual database objects contained in the catalog.

In connection with the invention, a data structure is created by identifying a plurality of words and mapping each word to one or more categories. The data structure is indexed. An item of content is identified and classified based on the data structure. The classification includes identifying all one—or more—word combinations in the item of content; for each word of at least a pre-determined number of characters in length in each of the word combinations, identifying each of the categories to which it is mapped; and determining a weight for each of the words based on an inverse proportion to the number of categories to which it is mapped.

Abstract: A system to suggest a directory location in which to save a file. The system includes a client computer and a folder storage locator. The client computer initiates a file save operation. The folder storage locator communicates the suggestion of the directory location in which to save the file. The folder storage locator includes a context identifier, a context analyzer, and a location trigger. The context identifier identifies contextual information of a file in response to a save operation to save the file on a storage device. The context analyzer compares the contextual information of the file to indexing data of an indexing service. The indexing data indexes existing files on the storage device. The location trigger communicates a potential file storage location on the storage device based on the comparison of the contextual information of the file to the indexing data of the indexing service.
