The visualization system provides for collecting and sharing the intelligence and experience of the operator in addition to the process data associated with the solution. The operator can include both operator movements around the process and equipment and voice commentary in the solution.

Abstract: The invention relates generally to a system and method for detecting patterns of behavior in reported insurance claims. More particularly, the invention resolves insurance claim data with other demographic, activity and other related data about individuals and entities to detect specific subsets of entities and individuals and their insurance claims behaviors.

Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer readable media for transforming raw healthcare data into relevant healthcare data are provided. Transformation of raw healthcare data into relevant data is accomplished by receiving raw data from a plurality of data collectors, where the plurality of data collectors extract the raw data from a plurality of raw data sources, and sorting the raw data into unstructured raw data, structured data of non-standard nomenclature, and structured data of standard nomenclature. The data is transformed into relevant data through the use of natural language processing, nomenclature and ontology mapping, and adaptive knowledge processing. The relevant data is stored in a plurality of data repositories, and computer applications and services are allowed access to the plurality of data repositories.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for accessing data in a computer system. Compression and decompression functions are associated with a column of the table, in order to perform compression of decimal, numeric or date data stored in the column when the data is inserted or updated in the table, and in order to perform decompression of the data stored in the column when the data is retrieved from the table. The compression function compresses and stores the data in a fixed-length compressed field in the column without a length value, and the fixed-length compressed field has a size that is determined by a range of values for the data stored in the fixed-length compressed field. The decompression function retrieves and decompresses the data from the fixed-length compressed field.

Abstract: Techniques provided for allowing external access by other users to private information that is maintained on local storage of a computer and owned by an information owner. The private information is uploaded from the local storage to an externally accessible information source that is accessible by the other users. A request from a user to access the private information is received by the owner, who determines whether to allow access the private information. If so, the owner sends a private information sharing authorization to a collaboration orchestrator, which retrieves the private information from the external source and provides the private information to the user. The owner optionally requests to collaborate with the user before deciding whether to allow access to the private information. One or both of the identities of the owner and user can remain anonymous until agreeing on revealing identities. A system and program product is also provided.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for uploading data from a sender to a receiver. A data deduplication technique is described that may reduce the bandwidth used in uploading data from the sender to the receiver. In the technique, the receiver, rather than the sender, maintains a fingerprint dictionary for previously uploaded data. When a sender has additional data to be uploaded, the sender extracts fingerprints for units of the data and sends the fingerprints to the receiver. The receiver checks its fingerprint dictionary to determine the data units to be uploaded and notifies the sender of the identified units, which then sends the identified units of data to the receiver. The technique may, for example, be applied in virtualized data store systems to reduce bandwidth usage in uploading data.

Abstract: A method and system of managing data in a storage device is provided. The method includes receiving a request to store content in a storage device. If the content is discardable content, the content is divided into a plurality of discardable data objects, each associated with at least one type of discarding priority data. The discardable data objects in the storage device are managed based on the discarding priority data associated with each discardable data object. Management of discardable objects may include selection and deletion of discardable objects based on discarding priority data, as well as further subdivision of existing discardable objects, to maintain a desired amount of free space on the storage device. The system may include a host having a processor and a storage device interface configured to execute the method, or a storage device having a processor configured to execute the disclosed methods.

The processing of the financial transaction may either result in fulfillment or non-fulfillment of the financial transaction depending on the feasibility assessment. Abstract: A computer-implemented method for generating a hierarchy-based trace log includes: receiving a log generated by a trace program performed in a computer system, the log having entries organized by sequence number, each entry including an object key for an object involved in the traced event and a log message about the traced event; identifying all object keys that occur in the log; assigning different separation values to each of the entries; generating respective adjusted sequence numbers for all of the entries by combining each entry's sequence number with the separation value for that entry; and storing an adjusted log having entries organized by the adjusted sequence numbers.

An apparatus may comprise a logic device arranged to execute a montage application comprising an authoring component operative to generate a tile object for a digital montage, the authoring component to receive a control directive to associate a content file with a presentation tile of a presentation surface of the digital montage, identify a content file type for the content file, and generate the tile object with information from the content file in accordance with the content file type. Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the resume time of a platform. In one embodiment of the invention, the context of the platform is saved prior to entering an inactive state of the platform. When the platform is switched back to an active state, it reads the saved context and restores the platform to its original state prior to entering the inactive state. In one embodiment of the invention, the platform determines whether it should compress the saved context before storing it in a non-volatile memory based on the operating condition of the platform. This allows the platform to select the optimum method to allow faster resume time of the platform.

The pump supports a syringe having a plunger and includes a piston drive to couple to the plunger, a processor to control movement of the piston drive, and a memory to store syringe profiles for different syringes. Each syringe profile contains data for the processor to control the piston drive to expel fluid from a respective syringe at a rate. The method includes, with a computing system containing a database of data correlated to an array of syringes for which the pump could be used, culling from the database a syringe profiles for the syringes to be used by the pump within the facility or portion thereof, and updating the memory of the pump while in the facility with the culled syringe profiles whereby to update the pump for operation with syringes to be used with the syringe pump.

Abstract: Counterfactual analysis can be performed “offline”, or “after the fact”, based on data collected during a trial in which random variations are applied to the output of the system whose parameters are to be the subject of the counterfactual analysis. A weighting factor can be derived and applied to data collected during the trial to emphasize that data obtained when the random variations most closely resembled the output that would be expected if counterfactual parameters were utilized to generate the output. If the counterfactual parameters being considered differ too much from the parameters under which the trial was conducted, the offline counterfactual analysis can estimate a direction and magnitude of the change of the system performance, as opposed to deriving a specific expected system performance value. In economic transactions, the random variations can be considered variations in the price paid by another party, thereby enabling derivation of their marginal cost.

Abstract: A crowdsourcing data structuring system and method for capturing unstructured data from the Web and adding structure by placing the data in a document that is accessible by others in a cloud computing environment. Using crowdsourcing, the unstructured data is annotated, amended, and verified to add structure to the unstructured data. An anchor and update module convert the data to a pointer that links the document to the data at an information source and stores the pointer in the document rather than the data itself. The data displayed in the document is updated whenever the information source is updated. A contribution module allows users to add data to the document, a validation module allows users to determine the validity of the data linked to in the document, and an expert ranking module allows users to rank the expert or contributor of the data in the document.

Abstract: An administrator of an enterprise storage set may be tasked with storing a large number and variety of data sets on a large number and variety of storage components. However, the manual selection of a physical schema by an administrator may be time-consuming, may generate inefficient physical schemata, and may not be easily reevaluated as the data sets and storage set change. Presented herein are techniques for automatically determining a physical schema by comparing the storage factors of each data set (e.g., data size, relationships with other data sets, and usages of the data set by users) with the storage capabilities of the storage components, selecting a suitable storage component, and implementing the storage of the data set on the storage component. An embodiment of these techniques may thereby achieve an automated identification of a physical schema with improved efficiency and flexibility of the physical schema while conserving administrative resources.

Abstract: An electronic device and a method of preventing a deletion of a file are provided. If a deletion command is input from a computer with respect to at least one file stored on a storage unit, the electronic device determines whether the corresponding file is to be deleted by referring to a deletion prevention area. Accordingly, the electronic device maintains a deletion prevention function even when the deletion command is input from the computer.

During subsequent consumption of the digital content item by the user or another, the metadata item is presented synchronously in co lection with the time-specific portion of the digital content item, where such presentation is constrained or controlled in response to user-controlled filters implemented through a social network.

A client computing device includes a client media presentation application that is responsive to feedback input received during the display of one or more slides of a media presentation to assign a score to each of the one or more slides. The media presentation application stores the assigned scores in a client database as media presentation data. A server computing device includes a server database that stores media presentation data. The server computing device also includes a server media presentation application that communicates with the client media presentation application during a synchronization process to synchronize media presentation data between the client database the server database.

Abstract: Aspects are disclosed for publishing contents of a content store. A storage operation is performed, and a completion of the storage operation is detected. Here, the storage operation redundantly stores contents of a content set onto instances associated with a content store. The contents stored in the instances are then published in response to the completion of the storage operation. In another aspect, a dataset table is generated to facilitate storing contents of a content set, which include payload and metadata. The payload is stored onto a payload table, and the metadata is stored onto a metadata table. For this embodiment, the dataset table includes a first foreign key to the payload table, whereas the metadata table includes a second foreign key to the dataset table. The dataset table is monitored to determine a storage status of the contents, and the contents are subsequently published based on the storage status.

Abstract: A device receives, from a data warehouse, a request for incremental data, creates one or more temporary tables based on the request, and extracts incremental data from tracking tables of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The device also stores the extracted incremental data in the one or more temporary tables, and joins the one or more temporary tables with one or more regular tables, where the one or more regular tables include data associated with the incremental data stored in the one or more temporary tables. The device further retrieves data from the joined one or more temporary tables and the one or more regular tables, and stores the retrieved data in the data warehouse.

Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer program products for processing data a computing environment are provided. The computer environment for data deduplication storage receives a plurality of write operations for deduplication storage of the data. The data is buffered in a plurality of buffers with overflow temporarily stored to a memory hierarchy when the data received for deduplication storage is sequential or non sequential. The data is accumulated and updated in the plurality of buffers per a data structure, the data structure serving as a fragment map between the plurality of buffers and a plurality of user file locations. The data is restructured in the plurality of buffers to form a complete sequence of a required sequence size. The data is provided as at least one stream to a stream-based deduplication algorithm for processing and storage.

Abstract: A transparent data access interface/layer for repackageable virtualized transparent access to heterogeneous business process data sources, internally maintained or outsourced, is disclosed. This data access interface provides substantially real time customer/client specific, i.e. transparent, access to a customer/client generic enterprise storage and data processing architecture, such as an architecture operated by a business process outsourcing organization (“BPO”), which includes multiple disparate/heterogeneous data sources, having disparate formats and access methodologies, storing and processing customer/client specific data for multiple customers, while also permitting similarly transparent access across the enterprise storage architecture, e.g. across multiple customers/clients, such as for BPO-internal processing and reporting requirements.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine readable and executable instructions are provided for collaborative filtering. Collaborative filtering includes representing users and objects by rows and columns in an ordinal ratings matrix having a particular dimensional space. Values in the ordinal ratings matrix are weighted with a weight matrix having the particular dimensional space. The weight matrix is hashed into a lower dimensional space by one of row and column by multiplying a projection matrix by the weight matrix. The ordinal ratings matrix is hashed into a lower dimensional space by multiplying the projection matrix by an element-wise product of the weight matrix and the ordinal ratings matrix to form a reduced ratings matrix, and element-wise dividing the reduced ratings matrix by the hashed weight matrix. The hashed ordinal ratings matrix and the hashed weight matrix are low-rank approximated by alternating least squares.

Abstract: Exemplary method, system, and computer program embodiments for establishing hierarchical user management authority for storage resources organized into a plurality of resource groups in a computing storage environment are provided. In one embodiment, each of the plurality of storage resources is associated with a resource group object having a resource group attribute associating the resource group object with one of the plurality of resource groups. The resource group label attribute is assigned to the resource group object. An additional attribute of the resource group object, that specifies a plurality of management policies for the resource group object and the plurality of storage resources associated with the resource group object, is defined. One of plurality of available users of the plurality of storage resources is associated with a user resource scope attribute. A schema is defined for comparing of a plurality of values of the user resource scope attribute with the resource group label attribute.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for calculating state of cryptographic objects and generating search filters for querying cryptographic objects based on the given state or on the given combination of unique states. The mechanism to calculate a state of a cryptographic object allows an application or system to resolve the current state of any cryptographic object with the following set of state altering date values: initial date, activation date, deactivation date, compromise date, and destroy date. A processing module may retrieve the state meta-data and calculate the current state of a given cryptographic object. The current state may be, for example, one of the following: unknown, pre-active, active, deactivated, compromised, destroyed, and destroyed-compromised. The mechanism to generate a search filter may generate a search query language (SQL) search filter to query for cryptographic objects using the state altering date values stored for each object.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for propagating source identification information from an application front-end system in an application layer to a data layer inspection system associated with a back-end system. An incoming user request is received, at the data layer inspection system, from a gateway system associated with the application front-end system. One or more outgoing statements targeting a back-end system are received at the data layer inspection system. The data layer inspection system accesses a mapping data structure based on the one or more outgoing statements to thereby correlate the one or more outgoing statements with the incoming user request. The data layer inspection system retrieves source identification information associated with the incoming user request based on the correlation of the one or more outgoing statements with the incoming user request. The data layer inspection system performs a data layer inspection operation based on the source identification information.

The set of logics includes an establishment logic to instantiate one-to-many de-duplication data structures, a manipulation logic to update the de-dupe data structure(s), a key logic to generate a key from a block of data to be de-duplicated, and a similarity logic to make a similarity determination for the block. The similarity determination identifies the block as a unique block, a duplicate block, or a block that meets a similarity threshold with respect to a stored de-duplicated block accessible through the dedupe data structure. The similarity determination involves comparing the block to be de-duplicated to a stored block available to the apparatus using a byte-by-byte approach, a hash approach, a delta hash approach and/or a sampling sequence approach.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for organizing data by overlaying a searchable database with a directory tree structure. The method includes generating the directory tree structure that includes nodes comprising a designated category for each node and branches comprising links between the nodes, and generating one or more pointers. Each pointer corresponds to a specific node and the pointer links the specific node to an item of data within the searchable database. All pointers associated with the specific node link related items of data corresponding to the designated category. Each node within the directory tree structure can include a corresponding html address. Items of data can be web-based multimedia including audio, video, images, and appropriately formatted text, displayed in an encyclopedia-like format. Nodes, branches, and pointers within the directory tree structure can continually be added, edited, or deleted.

Abstract: A consent management system is described which manages an entity's consent to consume application functionality on a per-feature level of granularity. To perform this task, the consent management system maintains consent information which describes a plurality of use conditions associated with the features of the application functionality. In one case, the consent information has a hierarchical data structure that identifies a hierarchy of application features. In operation, the consent management system accesses the content information whenever an entity seeks to access a particular application feature; it grants or denies access to the feature based on the consent information. The consent management system also includes a consent maintenance module that allows an administrator (or other entity) to cancel or modify any use condition in the consent information.

Abstract: Processes and systems are disclosed for recording data relating to a shot by a projectile weapon. Environment data occurring prior to data indicating the occurrence of a shot by the projectile weapon is retained for subsequent evaluation. Such environment data includes, but is not limited to, ambient audio data, video data produced by a video camera associated with the projectile weapon, GPS data representing locations of the projectile weapon, electronic compass data representing orientations of the projectile weapon and acceleration data representing accelerations of the projectile weapon.
