Using Relevance Feedback From The User, E.g., Relevance Feedback On Documents, Documents Sets, Document Terms Or Passages, Etc. (epo) Patents (Class 707/E17.064)
Abstract: In a filtering system for a correlation related to a composing element portfolio of a patent, a plurality of elements are defined by standard element codes and stored. Then composing elements of the patent are defined by the corresponding standard element codes in a standard element depository so as to form the composing element portfolio of the patent to be stored. Then an input module defines a composing element portfolio of the testing object according to the standard element codes. After that, the composing element portfolio input by the input module is matched with the composing element portfolio of each said patent. Afterward, matching result are sorted according to correlation and a sorted result based on the correlation is displayed.

Abstract: A computer-readable medium stores a program causing a computer to execute information processing. The information processing includes: reading user information of a user who requests to provide first document information; generating second document information, based on (i) concealment region information associated with the first document information and (ii) the read user information relating to the user; and outputting the second document information. The concealment region information includes (i) information, for specifying a region that is to be concealed when the associated first document information is provided and (ii) concealment condition information used to determine as to whether or not the concealment region is concealed. In the second document information, a region in the first document information that is to be concealed from the user is concealed.
Abstract: A search technology generates recommendations with minimal user data and participation, and provides better interpretation of user data, such as popularity, thus obtaining breadth and quality in recommendations. It is sensitive to the semantic content of natural language terms and lets users briefly describe the intended recipient (i.e., interests, eccentricities, previously successful gifts). Based on that input, the recommendation software may determine the meaning of the entered terms and creatively discover connections to gift recommendations from the vast array of possibilities. The user may then make a selection from these recommendations. The engine will allow the user to find gifts through connections that are not limited to previously available information on the Internet. Thus, interests can be connected to buying behavior by relating terms to respective items.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for identifying executable scenario solutions relevant to a user query and returning such executable scenario solutions as search results in response to the user query are provided. Upon receiving a user query, a plurality of results is returned, each result being representative of a series of steps which may be implemented to address a particular issue relevant to the received user query. Often, a series of steps or scenario includes a number of sub-scenarios, each of which is to be executed sequentially to achieve the desired result. Accordingly, upon selection of a particular search result, the user may be guided through a series of sub-scenario result options until an item having direct association to a series of steps is selected. Once selected, the executable scenario solution is presented to the user for execution.

Abstract: There is disclosed a technique for organizing a plurality of content items. In an embodiment, the technique comprises assigning to each content item a content item array or bit string, wherein each unique ordinal or bit position indicates a characteristic of the content item. The content items may be filtered by applying a content filter including at least one filter rule concerning at least one characteristic of each content item. In an embodiment, a user preference bit string is used to indicate a user preference for one or more characteristics of the content items. The user preference bit string may be compared to each content item bit string to determine relevance a content item, and to order the content items according to the user's preferences. In an embodiment, the content items may be cached using a cache key generated from the user preference bit string.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for skipping XML index scans with common ancestors of a previously failed predicate. An XML index is scanned by an XML index scan to filter entries of the index matching at least one search value (predicate) of an XML query. When the XML index scan finds a matching entry, the entry is passed to an XPath evaluation component. The XPath evaluation component evaluates the entry against remaining predicates of the XML query for further qualification. When the XPath evaluation component disqualifies an entry, the XPath evaluation component provides feedback to the XML index scan to skip remaining entries comprising a common ancestor of the disqualified entry's path. The XML index scan can then efficiently skip index entries that will not qualify against the XML query.
Abstract: A search engine provides search results having specific relevance to a user by identifying content that was created and/or used by individuals having a relationship with or sharing characteristics with the user requesting the search. Additionally, the search engine may identify content intended for individuals having characteristics of the user requesting the search. When a user provides a search query to the search engine, user profile information associated with the user is accessed. The search engine identifies content items matching the search query. Additionally, the search engine determines the relevance of the identified content items for the user by comparing the user profile information against context data for the identified content items. The context data for content items include information regarding the individual who created the content items, individual(s) who have used the content items, and/or individuals for whom the content items are intended.
Abstract: A method and system for calculating a relevance between words using a document set is provided. The method of calculating the relevance between words based on a document set, includes: obtaining statistical information about the words based on at least one of the words, documents, a word classification of the words, and a document classification of the documents, wherein the words and the documents are included in the document set; standardizing the statistical information; and calculating the relevance between the words based on the standardized statistical information.

Abstract: A request is received from a consumer of services to consult with a service provider having a service provider profile that satisfies at least some attributes in a set of attributes that define a suitable service provider; an available service provider satisfying at least some of the attributes in the set of attributes is identified; and a communication channel is provided to establish a communication between the consumer of services and the identified service provider.
Abstract: Systems and methods have been developed for performing an advanced or detailed search based on information previously collected about a searcher's interests. In response to a search request, the searcher's interests are retrieved and inspected. In an embodiment, the interests may be obtained from multiple systems including those not associated with the search system. Based on the searcher's interests, the search request may be limited or otherwise modified from the actual request received. The results of the limited search may then presented to the searcher as the results of the requested search.
Abstract: A method and system for generating a help file based on failed user queries. A help file generation system collects failed user queries from user computer systems. The generation system assists a developer in identifying failed user queries that are related to a topic. The generation system then updates the entry in the help file for that topic based on the identified user queries. When a help system subsequently uses that help file, it checks the updated entry when searching for a match and will likely find a match to a relevant topic for a user query that previously failed.
