Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling consumers to scan RFID tags using home based endpoint devices that can transmit the scanned information to network based services are disclosed. Using the RFID scanned information, consumers can then access, retrieve and view additional information regarding products, in which RFIDs are embedded, on video display devices, such as televisions or video display monitors. This product related information can include interactive technical support, companion product information, or instructional guidelines.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various exemplary systems and methods for linking entity references to entities and identifying associations between entities. In particular, a method for delinking one or more entity references linked to a same entity is provided, where the one or more entity references having at least one common data field. The method comprises the steps of evaluating at least one actual measurement of the entity based at least in part on one or more field values of the one or more entity references, determining a difference between the at least one actual measurement and at least one predefined measurement associated with the entity and delinking the one or more entity references based at least in part on a comparison of the difference and a defined threshold.
Abstract: Targeted advertising using object identification techniques is described. In an implementation, an object is identified by a client that is placed on a surface of the client. An advertisement is located that corresponds to the identified object and is output.

Abstract: Arrangements (1) comprising comparators (11) for comparing content identifiers with each other, such as audio/video fingerprints, unique identifiers, hash algorithms, cyclic redundancy checks, titles, names, durations, sizes, album names and artist names of files such as audio/video/data files, are provided with selectors (12) for selecting, 5 from groups of content identifiers, in dependence of values of parameters of the content identifiers, sub-groups of content identifiers, to increase flexibilities. Calculators (13) calculate functions of the values of the parameters and further comparators (14) compare the functions with thresholds. Content identifiers may be defined by cost and accuracy parameters. Then, calculators (13) calculate first functions of the values of the cost 10 parameters and calculate second functions of the values of the accuracy parameters and further comparators (14) compare the first functions with first thresholds and compare the second functions with second thresholds.

Abstract: The present application generally relates to address data maintenance services using a mail processing system. The present application discloses techniques and equipment to update address information and usage of mail processing equipment to print delivery point barcodes that represent the current and accurate address information available for the addressee. The present application also provides a new approach for storing and searching address and name run time directories as part of a mail processing system using address reader technology.

Abstract: An interactive cooking preparation device is presented. The user places ingredients that the user wishes to use in a recipe. The interactive cooking preparation device detects the ingredients placed by the user in the detection area of the interactive cooking preparation device using sensors. The detection results in a set of ingredient identifiers that correspond to the placed ingredients. A recipes database is then searched for the detected set of ingredient identifiers. The database search results in one or more suggested recipes. The suggested recipes are displayed to the user on a display device that is included in the interactive cooking preparation device. The user then selects one of the suggested recipes.

Abstract: A way of delivering recipe preparation instruction to disabled individuals is provided using an interactive cooking preparation device. The device retrieves an instruction delivery preference that corresponds to a user with a disability, such as a hearing or sight disability. The user then selects a recipe from list of recipes. Preparation steps that correspond to the selected recipe are retrieved from a data store, such as a database. The retrieved preparation steps are provided to the user using the interactive cooking preparation device that provides the preparation steps in an alternative delivery mode based on the user's delivery preference.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for enabling the restoration of in-flight file descriptors during a checkpoint operation. Responsive to a checkpoint operation being initiated on a process in a workload partition, in-flight file pointers in an in-flight file queue on a socket bound to the process are identified. A file descriptor is instantiated in the process file table of the process for each identified in-flight file pointer in the in-flight file queue. After completion of the checkpoint operation, the in-flight file queue on the socket may be reconstructed in a restore operation using the instantiated file descriptors.
