Spatially Dependent Indexing And Retrieval, E.g., Location Dependent Results To Queries, Etc. (epo) Patents (Class 707/E17.11)
  • Patent number: 12124492
Abstract: A user interface (UI) for visualizing search data provides techniques for grouping and organizing aggregate data that shows the categories of topics included in search queries from a large number of individual users. Raw search queries are categorized into one of a number of topical categories. The search queries are assigned to a geographic location based on geolocations of computing devices generating the search queries. The UI presents a map that shows the number of search queries per topical category for each geographic location displayed in the current UI view. As a result of this UI design, a user can easily understand the interaction between geographic location and frequency of search query topics. Trends in the geographic distribution of searches and in the categories of topics searched are also easily understood from this UI design by changing the time range of the search queries displayed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining an improved user location using real world map data and/or sensor data are provided. In one embodiment, the method can include obtaining an initial estimate of a location of a user device and maps information corresponding to a geographic area at least partially surrounding the initial estimate of the location of the user device. The maps information can include one or more physical boundaries located at least in part within the geographic area at least partially surrounding the initial estimate. The method can further include determining a set of permissible areas that can potentially include the user device. The set of permissible areas can be determined based at least in part on the one or more physical boundaries. The method can further include revising the initial estimate to provide a revised estimate for the location of the user device based at least in part on the set of permissible areas.

Abstract: A mapping system comprising processes for creating and displaying structured geotagged data using interactive digital geographic imagery is disclosed. In one embodiment, a mapping system comprises processes and logic for creating a geo tag for structured data. A user creates a geo tag for a property of an object by selecting a geographic location on an interactive digital map and selecting the property of the object from a dialog presented to the user in response to selecting the geographic location. In this way, the user can more quickly and easily create structured geotagged data than can be accomplished using typical approaches requiring the user to manually enter geographic coordinates to associate a geographic location with structured data.

  • Patent number: 9571452
Abstract: A firewall uses a variety of techniques to obtain a useful domain name from a network request, that is, a domain name that facilitates the accurate enforcement of domain-based security rules for network traffic at the firewall. If the network request includes an Internet Protocol (IP) address instead of the domain name, the firewall may begin with a reverse domain name lookup. If this technique fails to adequately resolve the domain name, then the firewall may attempt a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) GET request to the IP address and investigate the header for useful domain name information. The firewall may also or instead initiate a secure connection to the IP address and analyze a certificate returned from the destination for the presence of domain name information. These measures can produce one or more domain names that can be collectively analyzed to select a suitable domain name for the application of a domain-based security rule or policy by the firewall.

  • Publication number: 20140052711
Abstract: Techniques are described for generating histograms for a multidimensional space. In the presence of large spatial objects, fuzzy splitting techniques are utilized to recursively divide the multidimensional space into partitions, where a single spatial object may belong to multiple partitions. Large spatial objects are essentially broken down into smaller objects that may allow for more efficient partitioning of the multidimensional space. A count of spatial objects in each partition yields a spatial histogram. A spatial object that belongs to multiple partitions may have a weighted count for each of the multiple partitions, based on the extent to which the spatial object overlaps with each partition. Thus, an object that is split among a handful of partitions will only contribute a fraction of a count to each partition. Small partitions having relatively few objects are avoided by refusing to subdivide a partition whose members drop below a threshold number.

Abstract: A flexible and extensible architecture allows for secure searching across an enterprise. Such an architecture can provide a simple Internet-like search experience to users searching secure content inside (and outside) the enterprise. The architecture allows for the crawling and searching of a variety or sources across an enterprise, regardless of whether any of these sources conform to a conventional user role model. The architecture further allows for security attributes to be submitted at query time, for example, in order to provide real-time secure access to enterprise resources. The user query also can be transformed to provide for dynamic querying that provides for a more current result list than can be obtained for static queries.

Abstract: Even if there are many printed images similar to a query image, this invention can effectively use a display window with a limited size and support to specify the print request source of each similar image by classifying and displaying the images according to additional information containing information indicating the print request source which has issued a print request for the image. Therefore, when a query image is input and images similar to the query image are found, the similar images are classified according to the user names of users who have printed them. The numbers of times of printing of the similar images and maximum similarities are displayed for the respective user names.
