Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for interacting with a social network. The method includes displaying a web page provided by a content provider on a user device. The web page includes at least one social network access item. The social network access item may be selected by a user of the user device, with a first type of selection causing a link to an online resource associated with a social network provider to be followed by the web browser, the online resource enabling the user to login to a social network. Receiving a second type of selection causes at least one control option to be displayed within the web page. The control option may be for saving details of the web page to a storage location remote from the user device and provided by the social network provider, or accessing the details of at least one web page previously saved by the user from the storage location.

Content page layouts can also be dynamically modified based on analyzed interactions of users with elements of the content page.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system, method, and computer program for dynamically reconciling a retailer receiving invoice with a distributor invoice for products sold and invoiced under multiple UPC codes and in multiple units of quantity. A retailer receiving invoice is matched to to a distributor invoice. For each line item in both invoices, the UPC, quantity, and unit-price are normalized. Invoiced UPCs are normalized to a hierarchy level in a product family a master product database. Also, invoiced unit prices are compared to upper and lower price limits for invoiced UPCs to determine whether an invoiced UPC correlates to an invoiced unit price. Quantity and unit-price are normalized by converting price-correlated units to base-level units in a product hierarchy. Normalized UPCs, quantities, and unit price are compared to match line items across invoices and discover any discrepancies. Credits are matched to discrepancies.

Abstract: Research or background study for many creative endeavors often utilizes research methods that include browsing information online. Such is typically accomplished via a web browser. An overlay canvas can be provided over an interface associated with the browser that can be employed to store not only content associated with data presented by the browser but also context associated with that data as well as with the particular creative endeavor.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and terminal for adding a quick link. The method includes: receiving a URL and a title of a quick link to be added to a main page, the URL and the title being input by a user; searching in a pre-stored mapping relationship between URLs and icons according to the URL of the quick link; and if a corresponding icon is found, adding the corresponding icon to the main page, drawing the title of the quick link on the corresponding icon, and binding the URL of the quick link to the corresponding icon. The terminal includes: a receiving module, a searching module, and an adding module. With the method, network traffic is saved and user experience is improved.

Abstract: An approach for providing a framework to maintain continuous access to web content bookmarked in a browser, the framework comprising web content storage, change detection and change notification. Embodiments of the present invention create and store a snapshot of bookmarked web content with a version number in a repository and the snapshot is replaced by a new snapshot whenever bookmarked web content is updated, while access to previously versioned snapshots is maintained. Change detection comprises automatically subscribing to content update notification services provided by a web content provider and receiving updates, comparing the content of a most recent snapshot with the web content available from the content provider and detecting a change to the bookmarked URL. Keywords from a snapshot can be used to relocate web content at a new URL and a web browser user is notified whenever a change to bookmarked web content is detected.

Each tag, or bookmark, can contain within it metadata associated with the content captured by the receiver at the time the bookmark was recorded; further information can be derived via interaction over the Internet with a service provider. Applications supported by video bookmarks include telescoping ads, capturing screen shots for later review or printing, and retrieving more information about any arbitrary subject being viewed, whether it is a scene in a program, an advertisement, or other associated information about the subject. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for sharing a bookmark, which is created by a user, with other users. In a method for sharing a bookmark in a home network, information of a bookmark for sharing in a home network device of a bookmark creator is created. The bookmark or the information of the bookmark is stored in an Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) terminal in the home network of the bookmark creator. The bookmark or the information of the bookmark is then transmitted from the IPTV terminal to an IPTV service provider.

Abstract: Mechanisms for allowing allow multi-session capability and session-return enabling stateful web applications include providing a start URL of a requested portal page with an “External Session ID” (ESID). The ESID is an argument that is different between the two instances of the application (on the same page), and leads to different/independent sessions in the server. When a user returns to the same page, the ESIDs are passed again with the individual application requests, and the server can then logically reconnect to the proper session and allow the user to continue. The ESID can be used to return to an application after the user has previously left to go to another application and then desires to come back, or even when the user closed the browser and restarts the application later.

Multiple bookmarks are examined to determine whether a pattern match is found for a bookmark including the URL domain and the parameter. The bookmark has a second parameter value. The first parameter value is stored with the bookmark as a group bookmark. The group bookmark includes: the URL domain, the parameter, and entries for the first parameter value and the second parameter value.

Abstract: A tagging event can be detected where a software entity is associated with a tag resulting from a user interaction. At least one situational attribute relating to the tagging event can be automatically determined. The one or more situational attribute can be stored in a data repository so that the stored situational attribute is associated with the tag. The detecting, determining, and storing can be repeated for a set of different tags, each associated with a software entity. A search of tagged software entities can be conducted. The results of the search can be modified based at least in part upon the stored situational attributes of the tagged software entities.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods and computer-readable media for transmedia video bookmarks, the method comprising receiving a first place marker and a second place marker for a segment of video media, extracting metadata from the video media between the first and second place markers, normalizing the extracted metadata, storing the normalized metadata, first place marker, and second place marker as a video bookmark, and retrieving the media represented by the video bookmark upon request from a user. Systems can aggregate video bookmarks from multiple sources and refine the first place marker and the second place marker based on the aggregated video bookmarks. Metadata can be extracted by analyzing text or audio annotations. Metadata can be normalized by generating a video thumbnail representing the video media between the first place marker and the second place marker. Multiple video bookmarks may be searchable by metadata or by the video thumbnail visually.

Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting peer-to-peer (PTP) Internet searches utilizing tagged web resources, that is, web resources that the local user and/or a user at an associated remote computing device has tagged as evidence of a desire to have that resource as part of a PTP search community of resources, are provided. A user's search query is received and local and/or remote client computers associated with the user are searched directly for stored web resource links corresponding to the user's search query. Links to web resources that are identified by the search as corresponding to (i.e., satisfying) the user's search query are presented to the user. The user may then review the presented web resource links and determine if he or she would like to tag the web resource and add it to his or her local list of resources as part of the foundation for future PTP community searches.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer-readable media for transmedia video bookmarks, the method comprising receiving a first place marker and a second place marker for a segment of video media, extracting metadata from the video media between the first and second place markers, normalizing the extracted metadata, storing the normalized metadata, first place marker, and second place marker as a video bookmark, and retrieving the media represented by the video bookmark upon request from a user. One aspect further aggregates video bookmarks from multiple sources and refines the first place marker and second place marker based on the aggregated video bookmarks. Metadata can be extracted by analyzing text or audio annotations. Another aspect of normalizing the extracted metadata includes generating a video thumbnail representing the video media between the first place marker and the second place marker. Multiple video bookmarks may be searchable by metadata or by the video thumbnail visually.

Abstract: A method for storing, organizing and providing remote electronic access to documents. A cover sheet including a standard set of identification data characterizing each document is developed and stored. A digital version of each document is created and stored by scanning each contract. Each digital version includes a scanned image and a searchable text file, wherein the text is overlaid with the image. An index of bookmarks identifying sections of the digital version of each document is generated. Selected fields of information are captured from the digital version of the document. The documents are organized and cross-referenced in a database that includes the captured information and additional information related to each document. Designated parties are alerted of critical dates associated with each document. Remote electronic access to the documents is provided over the internet.
