The techniques include migrating from one version of a directory server to another version of the directory server, maintaining one or more versions of an objectclass while migrating from one version of a directory server to another version of the directory server, and selecting one of the one or more versions of an objectclass for normal functioning of an application.

Abstract: A versioning system for electronic textbooks provided to a variety of textbook readers uses a highly abstracted content file tagged with content identifiers allowing this content file to be readily re-edited into multiple versions compatible with different curricula and suitable for a range of different reader types.

Abstract: A model based on a generalization of the Examination Hypothesis is disclosed that states that for a given query, the user click probability on a document in a given position is proportional to the relevance of the document and a query specific position bias. Based on this model the relevance and position bias parameters are learned for different queries and documents. This is done by translating the model into a system of linear equations that can be solved to obtain the best fit relevance and position bias values. A cumulative analysis of the position bias curves may be performed for different queries to understand the nature of these curves for navigational and informational queries. In particular, the position bias parameter values may be computed for a large number of queries. Such an exercise reveals whether the query is informational or navigational.

Abstract: A patient management system includes a scheduler (20) configured to schedule engagements with a patient in accordance with a care plan (18). The engagements include at least presentation of audio/video content. An audio/video presentation device (10) is configured to present audio/video content to the patient as directed by the scheduler. An input device (12) is configured to receive patient responses. A response analyzer (34) is configured to analyze at least one patient response to determine patient compliance with a goal of the care plan. An incentives rules engine (40) is configured to generate incentives based on the patient compliance. The incentives rules engine adjusts the generated incentives based on at least one additional factor to enhance motivational value of the generated incentives.

This visual organization is provided through a treemap representation, in which an enclosing region for a set of journals is broken up into sub-regions corresponding to social network communities. Representations of individual on-line journals are provided as inner regions within the sub-regions for the communities. The enclosing region, sub-regions and inner regions may be rectangular, or any other specific geometric shape as appropriate for a given application.

The stored information can be used to identify changes to the links that occurred while the file containing the link was in a non-modifiable state, for example, in a deactivated state.

Ratings of the primary version may be used to determine an overall user rating of the submitter, whereas ratings of the secondary versions may not. Abstract: During synchronization of data between service registries, certain unchecked classification and taxonomy data may not synchronize correctly leaving valuable data unused in the source registry. The present application provides for the creation of a generic object in the destination service registry to enable the synchronization to correctly map the taxonomy and classification data from a source service registry to a destination service registry and the auto format of data to conform to the requirements of the destination service registry.

The method preserves the user name and entity key associated with the data during the process. If that is not possible, the method generates new user names and/or entity keys and creates a mapping between the original and the generated user names and/or keys in order to dispatch the requests properly during runtime. Source repository is required to support the mandatory UDDI v3 APIs and may need to support the optional Security API Set. Destination repository is required to support the mandatory UDDI v3 API and the optional Security API Set.

The new web page may include a first frame comprising the inserted content and a second frame including the requested web content, such that the end user can scroll the web content without affecting the inserted content.

One method includes generating a website that relates to a specific brand, where the specific brand is associated with a plurality of assets that are integrated with the website, and the plurality of assets are obtained from a number of disparate sources. The method also includes assigning each asset an identifier, where the identifier defines a relation of each asset to the specific brand and defining a dashboard access to the specific brand. The dashboard access is configured to identify a user privilege for accessing specific ones of the plurality of assets of the specific brand, the user privilege enabling one or more of viewing details of an existing asset, adding a new asset, and modifying an existing asset.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates merging different versions of a database object. During operation, the system receives metadata associated with a first version of a database object and a second version of the database object. The system then compares metadata associated with the first version with metadata associated with the second version to create a difference report. Next, the system uses the different report to create an action plan that specifies how to merge the metadata associated with the first and second versions of the metadata object.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide for highly tolerant and adaptable content reuse in a content management system (CMS). The method and system allow an author to reuse fragments of content that are composed from a document structure incompatible with a document structure of a document which the fragment is being incorporated. In such a case, the CMS may be configured to generate a new branched fragment, based on the content of the original fragment, but composed according to the grammar of the document which the fragment is being incorporated. Additionally, the CMS may be configured to maintain a relationship between an original fragment and branched fragments derived therefrom. Further, any content changes made to the original fragment may be incorporated by any associated branch fragments.

Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for web process monitoring. The commencement of an active web services process is first detected, and in response to such detection, a supervisory system is commenced. The active web services process is then monitored. Stored parameter data representing at least one acceptable property associated with the active web services process is then compared to the monitored web services process. The supervisory system is then activated based upon the results of the comparison. Thereafter, the activated supervisory system controls operation of the active web services process.

The user's browsing activities includes affixing labels to web pages and filling out forms. The captured activities are analyzed for patterns. Rules for performing activities on a web site are generated based on the patterns. Further activities are performed on the web site according to the rules and content from the web site is fetched. The fetched content is used in various web service applications, including crawlers.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of operating a knowledge capture program. The knowledge capture program has the steps of starting the knowledge capture program wherein a user can access content that is either existing content or creating new content. Once the content has been selected then a source subject matter can be selected and displayed, and then captured and incorporated into the content. The source subject matter can be edited and saved into the content. The content can then be retrieved and played in a desired mode of learning.

Link access data for a website is collected, such as numbers and times of views and clicks for links of the website, and link generated revenue information. The link access data is optionally stored. A link performance measure is generated for a link based on the link access data. An indication of the calculated link performance measure for the link is graphically displayed in a content scheduler. The indication may be based on an actual click through rate for the link, on an average click through rate for links in a module in which the link resides, link user engagement information, revenue generated by the link, or on other link access data. The content scheduler may display a website content schedule timeline or a webpage preview that includes the graphical indication.

Abstract: A system and method for distributing and providing access to media and for extending such access to a desktop environment is described. A media player in a webpage or in a desktop environment may reference a centralized location to access a playlist of media files. The playlist itself may reference remotely-located media files that may be streamed to the media player. The media player may be distributed in multiple environments, and updates to the playlist may be automatically distributed to all instances where the playlist is referenced due to the centralized reference in the media player. The embodiments of the media player may also be used in advertising as a mechanism for increasing user contact with an advertising entity and as a mechanism for distributing announcements and information by the advertiser.

Abstract: A collection of web pages is modeled as a directed graph, in which the nodes of the graph are the web pages and directed edges are hyperlinks. Web pages can also be represented by content, or by other features, to obtain a similarity graph over the web pages, where nodes again denote the web pages and the links or edges between each pair of nodes is weighted by a corresponding similarity between those two nodes. A random walk is defined for each graph, and a mixture of the random walks is obtained for the set of graphs. The collection of web pages is then analyzed based on the mixture to obtain a web page analysis result. The web page analysis result can be, for example, clustering of the web pages to discover web communities, classifying or categorizing the web pages, or spam detection indicating whether a given web page is spam or content.

When a wiki reconnects, differences are automatically sent over and changes from other wikis are merged automatically. Wikis may also be synchronized on a periodic or event driven basis. Embodiments of the present invention may also be used for load balancing between wikis, or to share information with users who can only occasionally connect to the Internet.
