Master/slave Mode Selecting Patents (Class 709/209)
  • Patent number: 9032052
Abstract: The deployment of a driver or an application on a client device having a write-filter is described. A deployment configuration file is obtained, wherein the deployment configuration file includes a plurality of deployment entries each having information for deployment of one of a driver and an application. A first deployment entry is retrieved from the deployment configuration file, and the deployment configuration file is modified to remove the first deployment entry from the deployment configuration file. The modified deployment configuration file is stored in a location of a memory of the client device that is exempt from a write-filter restriction, wherein the write-filter restriction prohibits a file stored on the client device with the write-filter enabled from persisting across a reboot of the client device. The one of the driver and the application of the first deployment entry is then deployed on the client device while the write-filter is disabled.

  • Publication number: 20150127761
Abstract: A client-side flow control mechanism for controlling the flow of messages communicated from a service to a client in a remote access system. The service, which may be a managed or unmanaged service, may communicate messages to the client where the messages include a service sequence ID (SSI). As the client processes the messages from the service, the client responds with a client sequence ID (CSI). The SSI and CSI values determine the number of messages that are in transmission queues. The service compares a difference between the current SSI and CSI to a stop window value. If the difference is greater than the stop window value, transmission of messages from the service to the client is turned OFF. The client continues to send CSI acknowledgments as it processes messages. Once the difference falls below a start window value, the transmission of messages to the client is turned ON.

  • Patent number: 9009235
Abstract: Messages are processed to guarantee proper work scheduling and allow for cyclic and conditional processing. A processing node requiring ordered processing of messages is configured to operate within a plurality of successive processing nodes not requiring ordering processing of messages. Nodes upstream of the ordered node (i) monitor skew between the messages being processed and messages that are ordered after the messages still being processed and that have been forwarded downstream of the node and (ii) pause processing upon reaching skew limits. The nodes upstream of the ordered node limit output of messages to be within a delta of other messages as defined by message IDs. In addition, messages removed from a flow path are replaced by Null messages for ordered processing. Child messages are encoded to incorporate parent IDs preserving ordering systems.

A second tenant-nonspecific database table maintained on the repository can maintain a second record that can include a key value designating the first tenant, a record designator, and an organization-specific master data value corresponding to the first predefined generic field.

  • Patent number: 8843441
Abstract: A system that implements a data storage service may store data on behalf of clients in multiple replicas on respective computing nodes. The system may employ an external service to select a master replica for a replica group. The master replica may service consistent read operations and/or write operations that are directed to the replica group (or to a data partition stored by the replica group). The master replica may employ a quorum based mechanism for performing replicated write operations, and a local lease mechanism for determining the replica authorized to perform consistent reads, even when the external service is unavailable. The master replica may propagate local leases to replica group members as replicated writes. If another replica assumes mastership for the replica group, it may not begin servicing consistent read operations that are directed to the replica group until the lease period for a current local lease expires.

Abstract: A client computing system in a client-server computing environment includes a client display driver that receives a transmission from a server, decodes graphics commands from the transmission using a client application, executes the functions using a client 3D library stored in a memory of the client, and renders the resulting image data to a display. The client may transmit capability information to the server, allowing the resolution of differences between the graphics application programming interfaces (APIs) supported on the server and the client.

Abstract: A computer or microchip including protected and network portions controlled by a microprocessor that is a master controlling device; an internal hardware firewall between the protected portion and the network portion, and hardware communications components in the network portion. The protected portion is protected by the internal hardware firewall, and the network portion has a connection for a network of computers including the World Wide Web and/or the Internet. The internal hardware firewall denies access to the protected portion from the network. One or more microprocessors that are not hardware network communications components are located in the network portion and are separate from the internal hardware firewall. The location of the internal hardware firewall permits unrestricted access by the network of computers to the network portion so that processing operations, other than network communications and firewall operations are executed by one or more of the microprocessors in the network portion.

  • Patent number: 8819160
Abstract: A network-connectable device is configured to communicate with one or more computer-related devices via a network. The network-connectable device includes a list management unit and a shutdown unit. When the list management unit receives a start command signal instructing an activation of the network-connectable device which is transmitted from a computer-related device, the list management unit registers the computer-related device on a list. When the computer-related device registered on the list is switched to or is to be switched to a disconnected state disconnected from the network-connectable device, the list management unit deletes the computer-related device from the list. The shutdown unit shuts down power to a part of the network-connectable device when none of the computer-related devices is registered on the list.

Abstract: A real-time traffic management system comprising a main light controller module configured to monitor and control functionality of one or more traffic lights, a master control unit server software application, a network operations control module, and a network watcher application program. The main light controller module communicates with one or more coordinating light controller modules, onsite personnel, and a network operations center. The main light controller uses a camera that detects instances of vehicle demand and provides live images for situational awareness. The main light controller module comprises a global positioning satellite receiver and a light sensor for monitoring ambient lighting conditions. The network watcher application program continuously scans incoming data, monitors performance of all components in the system, and issues alerts and alarms to notify personnel of events or conditions outside of established tolerances.
