Abstract: The present disclosure relates to application startup control methods and control devices. One example method includes receiving information that is sent by a first application and that is used to trigger startup of a second application, determining, based on at least one of the information of the first application and a currently available resource amount of a system, whether to restrict the startup of the second application, where the information of the first application is used to indicate an importance degree of the first application in the system, and restricting the startup of the second application in response to determining to restrict the startup of the second application.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, systems, and program products are disclosed for cluster configuration backup and recovery. One method includes receiving, by use of a processor, configuration data for a cluster. The method includes storing the configuration data for the cluster. The method also includes forming a machine-readable code that corresponds to the stored configuration data for the cluster. The machine-readable code may be used for restoring the stored configuration data to the cluster.

Abstract: A device, method and system for adjusting a configuration of a camera device is provided. An example device is in communication with an example camera device having a configuration. The device receives an image sequence from the camera device. The device processes the image sequence to determine a predicted location of a target object identified in the image sequence based on movement of the target object in the image sequence. The device adjusts the configuration of the camera device based on a stored configuration of the camera device, the stored configuration indicative of conditions at the predicted location.

Abstract: Methods for authentication session transfer using application download links are performed by systems and devices. A user or administrator at a first device enables the user to use an application at the user's mobile device. The user or administrator provides a request for the mobile application from the first device to an identity service. The identity service generates a uniform resource locator (URL) that encodes an authentication object generated by the identity service that is specific to the user's identity, and provides the URL to the mobile device. The identity service receives the authentication object back from a browser session of the URL at the user device, and establishes an authenticated browser session of the URL using the authentication object. The identity services authenticates the user's identity for the mobile application responsive to the mobile application invoking the authenticated browser session at the user device.

Abstract: Technology to provide link aware streaming adaptation is disclosed. In an example, a mobile device can include one or more processors configured to: process a manifest file for an HTTP adaptive stream that is received at the mobile device from a node; determine a physical layer goodput of the mobile device with the node for the HAS; identify a segment throughput estimate for the HAS; and select a representation in the manifest file for a selected period based, on the physical layer goodput for the HAS and the segment throughput for the HAS.

Abstract: Systems and methods for locating server nodes in close proximity to edge devices using georouting. Microservers automatically form a global peer-to-peer network to serve edge functions and content to edge devices. Edge devices use HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to execute serverless functions or otherwise retrieve data from edge nodes located in close proximity to the HTTP client. Serverless functions are implemented in secure, isolated environment utilizing a blockchain.

Abstract: Constraint based command invocations are dynamically queued in a cloud queue such that aspects of remote user devices may be remotely controlled with reduced exposure to inconvenient remotely issued commands. By monitoring conditions that may trigger command invocations, verifying rules of associated constraints prior to queuing command invocations, evaluating parameters to prioritize command invocations in a dynamic issuing order within cloud queue, examining factors and reverifying previously verified rules when determining whether to transmit a command from an command invocation located at a transmission position of the cloud queue, systems and methods herein provide a constrained environment within which user devices may be remotely controlled relatively free from unexpected cloud caused encumbrances during inopportune moments.

Abstract: Secondary media content is displayed based on metadata of primary media content, the secondary content specifying a data transfer action. Input can be received from a paired wireless input device. Upon receiving the input, the data transfer action can be executed, wherein the data transfer action includes retrieving transferable data specified according to the secondary media content; and transmitting the retrieved transferable data to an unpaired device via a network.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically analyzing and managing a media hub software update. The system and method each utilize available media hub system and diagnostic information to aid in the analysis and installation of a software update. If the installation of the update is determined to require memory capacity in excess of what is currently available within the media hub, an archive and off-loading process is automatically initiated to free the required memory space during the installation process. Any off-loaded information and/or applications are then restored after the installation is complete.

Abstract: A first machine identifies, from among a non-static collection of machines, a respective set of forward contacts that comprises a set of machines. The set of forward contacts are distributed along the ordered sequence in the forward direction away from the respective machine in an order of increasing similarity between the respective channel number assigned to the first machine and a respective channel number assigned to each of the set of forward contacts. The first machine establishes a respective direct communication channel between the first machine and each of the set of forward contacts. The first machine sends a first query to a first forward contact and sends collected answers for the first query to at least a second forward contact that has a greater similarity to the first machine based on the respective channel numbers of the first machine and the first and second forward contacts.

Abstract: A cloud infrastructure is configured and deployed for managing services executed on a cloud platform. The cloud infrastructure includes a control datacenter configured to communicate with one or more service datacenters. The service datacenter deploys one or more application programming interfaces (API's) associated with a service. The service datacenter also deploys an administration agent. The control datacenter hosts an engine that receives requests from users to perform administration operations by invoking the administration API's. In this manner, the control datacenter functions as a centralized control mechanism that effectively distributes administration operation requests as they are received from users to service datacenters that can service the requests. The cloud infrastructure provides an auditable, compliant and secure management system for administering services for distributed systems running in the cloud.

Abstract: A first access key, which is provided by a key server for decrypting a file and the encrypted file is published on a public network by a first user. Every time the secured file is accessed by a second user, the first access key is provided by the key server to decipher the file. The first user can control access to the file by deleting the first access key on the key server, thus denying the second user access to the access key preventing de-encryption of the secured file.

Abstract: In order to achieve location transparency and routing slip extensibility, a system and a method for orchestrating a web service using Business Process Execution Language are disclosed. The method includes: receiving a message, wherein the message comprises an address identifying an extension element; determining, from the address, a location of the extension element identified by the address; responsive to determining the location of the extension element, directing the message to an appropriate location; and storing the message in a computer readable storage medium.

Abstract: A device may receive a query from a user device, and may process the query using a machine learning model to determine categories related to the query. The device may send a message, instructing a user to select a category, to the user device to cause the user device to display the message. The device may receive, from the user device, a selection related to the categories, and may call, based on the selection, a module to cause the module to process the query. The device may receive from the module a response to the query, and may send the response to the user device, to cause the user device to display the response. The device may send the query, the selection, and the response to one or more servers for storage, and may retrain the machine learning model based on information stored by the one or more servers.

Abstract: A function node control unit records a pair of an input message and a computer program as a journal log, and sends the input message and the computer program to a virtual machine unit. The virtual machine unit executes the computer program with the input message as an argument, and sends the execution result to the function node control unit. The function node control unit outputs the execution result as an output message. At the time of activation of the information processing device, a recovery unit restores the virtual machine unit to the state at a particular time in the past; sequentially fetches journal logs recorded after the particular time; causes the virtual machine unit to sequentially re-execute the computer programs with the input messages included in the respective journal logs as corresponding arguments; and roll-forwards the state of the virtual machine unit to the latest state.

Abstract: Disclosed is a systems and methods of distributed data storage using multi-layers consistent hashing comprising: a plurality of storage nodes providing data storage and redundancy protection; a plurality of management nodes maintaining the properties of the storage nodes and mapping information from virtual groups to storage nodes; a plurality of monitor nodes maintaining the state of storage nodes and handling the changes of states of storage nodes including joining, decommissioning and failure; and one or more clients providing entries for applications or users to access the storage system. The storage nodes is in a hierarchical tree arrangement, and each storage node in each layer of the tree is allocated with a plurality of identities and configured for remaining hash space with consistency. Instead of sharing one hash space among all storage nodes, there are a plurality of hash spaces kept consistent in each layer of the storage hierarchical tree.

Abstract: A system for user registration and preference configuration for a data sharing platform is provided. The system comprises a user data repository containing data relating to a plurality of users, a permissions repository containing user profile configuration settings relating to the plurality of users, and a graphical user interface generated by the system and provided over a network. The graphical user interface is configured to receive an input of a user to register for a data sharing service of the system, generate a plurality of selectable interaction points, receive user profile information, user profile configuration settings, and a designation of at least one experience provider with which to share data of the user, and store, via associative linking, the received user profile information, user profile configuration settings, and the designation of the at least one experience provider with which to share data of the user.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus relating to content streaming, e.g., in a home network, in a manner that reduces the chance of streaming of content to a device which is not authorized to receive the content. In an exemplary method of controlling content streaming on a home network in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the method involves receiving at a home network gateway a first video on demand service request message from a first device coupled to the home network, storing a portion of said first video on demand service request message in memory, receiving at said home network gateway a second message, and determining based on a portion of said second message and a portion of said stored first video on demand service request message whether to provide the requested video on demand service.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are enhancements for deploying applications in an edge system of a communication network. In one implementation, a cache node in a content delivery network identifies a request for an application that is shared by a plurality of customers. In response to the request, the cache node determines whether the customer associated with the request is permitted to execute the application and, if permitted, initiates the application as an isolation instance. The cache node further, in response to completing the application, returns control to a source operation associated with the request.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for identifying unwanted photos and videos on a device. Such systems may contain various modules to do one or more of: (i) review the image quality of photos and videos, (ii) review a user's interaction with photos and videos, (iii) review the properties of photos and videos, (iv) review the user's profile/preferences as to photos, or (v) review information obtained from additional sources regarding the user, his or her photos, and any interaction therewith. With one tap, an exemplary application can identify all of a user's unwanted photos, such as, for example: photos with bad lighting, blurry shots, similar photos, and even photos that the system predicts a user may find boring. Any photos that an exemplary system is unsure about may be left for the user to review and act upon. By analyzing user decisions exemplary systems become progressively more accurate and thus improve their predictions over time.

Abstract: A container that manages access to protected resources using rules to intelligently manage them includes an environment having a set of software and configurations that are to be managed. A rule engine, which executes the rules, may be called reactively when software accesses protected resources. The engine uses a combination of embedded and configurable rules. It may be desirable to assign and manage rules per process, per resource (e.g. file, registry, etc.), and per user. Access rules may be altitude-specific access rules.

Abstract: A system for providing media essence includes a media managing processor that receives a transfer request that defines a minimum format quality and a required time for media essence to be available, and generates a media transfer work list that identifies a task for transferring a required range defined by the request. The system includes a media mover worker that selects a source site that has a first flow that includes the required range at a first format that satisfies the defined format quality, executes a load operation from the selected source site to the identified target site, updates a media mover queue to include the task to monitor a progress of the load operation, and controls the selected source site to load a second flow of the essence at a second lower format when the monitored progress indicates the load operation will not be completed by the required time.

Abstract: A digital graphics uploading, dialoguing, and commenting system is disclosed. The digital graphics uploading, dialoguing, and commenting system may provide a social forum upon which various artists may present their work for the purpose of soliciting diverse commentary by enabling other users to add their own dialogue or express their own comments on the existing dialogue. Unique to the system may be the ability to enable a user to search the database of digital media files using various parameters, such as keywords or categories, as assigned by the artist or editor, for viewing or further editing. In this way, a user may apply their own perspectives or interpretations to the available digital media, to express a position or opinion to a wider audience of potential viewers. Moreover, the present system allows business owners to initiate tasks for other users to engage, and compensate those users for their work.

Abstract: Technologies for accelerated HTTP message processing include a computing device having a network controller. The computing device may generate an HTTP message, frame the HTTP message to generate a transport protocol packet such as a TCP/IP packet or QUIC packet, and pass the transport protocol packet to the network controller. The network controller compresses the HTTP header of the HTTP message, encrypts the compressed HTTP message, and transmits the encrypted message to a remote device. The network controller may segment the transport protocol packet into multiple segmented packets. The network controller may receive transport protocol packets that include encrypted HTTP message. The network controller decrypts the encrypted HTTP message to generate a compressed HTTP message, decompresses the HTTP message, and steers the HTTP message to a receive queue based on contents of an HTTP header. The network controller may coalesce multiple transport protocol packets. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A computer-based method is provided for selectively providing notifications based on social relevance to a user. The notification is first parsed to determine a sender, a proposed recipient, and at least one topic addressed in the notification. The parsed notification is then evaluated against a social graph of the proposed recipient. A relevance score is assessed based on linkages traversed in the social graph to a predetermined degree of separation from the proposed recipient. The score is increased for linkages that match or relate to the at least one topic. The notification is released to the proposed recipient if the relevance score exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A system including a data center hosting a representational state transfer (REST) server in communication with a client network, wherein the REST server includes a GraphQL schema describing tables and fields of a communicatively coupled database. The REST server is configured to: receive a request that includes a GraphQL query; open a streaming connection to the client network; and output a beginning of a response via the streaming connection. The REST server is also configured to process the GraphQL query based on the GraphQL schema to generate a GraphQL result, and to output the GraphQL result in a body of the response via the streaming connection. The REST server is further configured to output an end of the response via the streaming connection, such that the response is correctly formatted in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a server system with a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium in data communication with the processor that can store and exchange content data including or representing content derived or received from a server of a social network and/or a user. An application programming interface includes steps executable by the processor to upload, download, or enable access of the content data. A content rights synchronization process is configured to enable the user to assign and/or control a rights access to any of the content data associated with the user. Further, a content engine can monitor for and save the content data as received content when identified, accessed, and/or received by the network. The content metadata and/or the content data is stored for recall in a centralized library database, where rights access is assigned by the at least one user.

Abstract: An orchestration engine that interfaces with the various clouds to implement the system solution. The orchestration engine builds, configures, and converges the single system solution. The orchestration engine builds the system by instantiating machines and services on the various clouds. The orchestration engine configures the system according to input from the client and the solution provider and then converges the various systems by establishing relationships and connections between the various services. Optionally, the orchestration engine also runs tests to verify that the system is working properly. Once the system has been built, configured and converged, the orchestration engine provides the client with a single entry point for using the system solution.

Attention information corresponding to the customer is determined in connection with the presence information. The attention information indicates a current attention of the customer. A notification is provided to the customer on an interaction channel from among the plurality of interaction channels over which the customer is identified to be active or most likely to be active, based on the presence information and the attention information.

Abstract: A method for storing data for at least one of a device state, device diagnosis and calibration of a field device in a cloud, with the field device having a self-monitoring functionality. The method includes device-internal registering of first data for at least one of a device state, device diagnosis and calibration by the field device and transfer of the device-internally registered first data from the field device to the cloud. Moreover, the method includes registering second data for at least one of a device state, device diagnosis and calibration of the field device using an external service computer and transferring the second data from the external service computer to the cloud. Both the first data as well as also the second data are stored in the cloud.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for broadcasting data streams. The CDN allows a streamer to stream live (in realtime) on a network(s), such as the Internet, for a live audience to view and to interact with the live entertainment. Each of the broadcast clients send data streams to the CDN via an input node, wherein the CDN output a selected media stream to one or more selected viewing clients via the output node. The architecture of the CDN contains one or more System Racks. Each of the System Racks contains multiple media channels. In operation, the data stream of a broadcasting client is sent to the CDN and distributed into selected channels. The data streams in each of the selected channels are outputted to viewing clients of a corresponding type.

Abstract: An application program updating method, apparatus, system, medium and device. The application program updating method provides a method of debugging a to-be-updated program logic through a development mode of a hot-update supporting client to obtain an updated program logic, then issuing the updated program logic to a back-end, and acquiring update data from the back end through a product mode of the hot-update supporting client. This allows a front-end developer to write and update simply and quickly without an assistance of any back-end developers.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, computer program products, and systems are provided for performing Near Field Communication (NFC) communication with a first NFC device that includes a NFC writable component and an operating system that restricts writing to the NFC writable component and allows reading NDEF messages from a source other than the NFC writable component. A method includes receiving, by a remote server, a serial number of the NFC writable component. The method further includes generating, by the remote server, a unique ID based on the serial number. The method also includes storing, by the remote server, the unique ID with a name of the NFC writable component. The method additionally includes preparing and sending, by the remote server, a Near Field Communication Data Exchange Format (NDEF) message to the NFC device that includes the unique ID together with information to be shared with a user of the NFC device.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a receiving device, a receiving method, a transmitting device, and a transmitting method that enable a more appropriate introduction of a new broadcasting scheme. A receiving device is provided including a receiving unit that receives a transmission frame transmitted from a transmitting device, and a demodulation unit that performs demodulation processing on a data signal obtained from a transmission frame that has been received, on the basis of a transmission control signal obtained from the transmission frame that has been received, in which the transmission control signal includes time-division control information regarding time-division control, as control information according to introduction of a second scheme compatible with a first scheme, and the demodulation unit operates according to the time-division control information. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a transmission system compliant with a broadcasting scheme such as an ISDB-T scheme.

The method also includes generating a hierarchical Gaussian process model using the historical dataset and the high-frequency sensor signal predictions and predicting low-frequency sensor signal predictions.

Input-output of each component is defined for type of the component. Abstract: An immersive display system is provided. The immersive display system obtains an image and determines external media elements based on the image. The immersive display system renders the external media elements along with the image to provide and immersive display experience to a user.

Abstract: Web application code includes a unified rendering application programming interface (API) library and unified rendering API calls. The unified rendering API calls comply with call definitions and are to library functions. The library functions are in both a server rendering library and a client rendering library. The call definitions are the same for using the server rendering library and the client rendering library. From a client computing device and a server computing device, a rendering system is identified for rendering a visualization to obtain an identified system. The rendering library matching the rendering system is linked to the web application code, where the rendering library is at least of the client rendering library or the server rendering library.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a processing device configured to receive a request to create a given storage volume in a storage system, the storage system providing a plurality of storage features. The processing device is also configured to select, for the given storage volume, one of a set of one or more volume tiers, each of the volume tiers specifying whether respective ones of the plurality of storage features provided by the storage system are enabled or disabled for storage volumes associated with that volume tier. The processing device is further configured to create the given storage volume in the storage system, and to associate the selected volume tier with the given storage volume, wherein associating the selected volume tier with the given storage volume comprises enabling or disabling respective ones of the plurality of storage features provided by the storage system as specified by the selected volume tier.
