  • Patent number: 10795740
Abstract: A service provider system may provide virtualized computing services to clients, including encapsulating services that call other (encapsulated) services. Once configured to delegate parameters to encapsulated services, an encapsulating service (and its API) may not need to be modified when an encapsulated service (or its API) is modified to support more, fewer, or different features or corresponding arguments. For example, an encapsulating service may receive a service request call from a client that includes arguments for an encapsulated service (e.g., as header information, or as an opaque block or uninterpreted key-value dictionary) and may call the encapsulated service, blindly passing along those arguments. An encapsulating service may access stored policy-based arguments or obtain arguments from a central service. Arguments passed to an encapsulated service may override default parameters of the service.

Each dialogue element is defined in a “node” that can be dragged and dropped into a canvas of the user interface. A debugging window allows a user to visually debug and/or search the code associated with each dialogue element as well as execute each dialogue element of the conversational agent in sequence at a pace that is suitable to the user.

  • Patent number: 10747942
Abstract: Webpages are optimizing through the use of experiments that compare the responses of viewers that are either presented with the original webpage or a variant thereof. One or more variants are first defined through the use of a browser-based editor application that initially examines the webpage for a snippet of code. The snippet can be added to the webpage, if missing, and the webpage returned to the editor application. Changes made to the webpage to define a variant are saved in variation code. When the webpage is later requested by multiple viewers, in each instance the viewer receives the webpage with the snippet, the snippet instructs the browser to download a file, and the instructions of the file determine whether the viewer will see the variant or the original webpage. Tracking viewer responses to the webpage and the variant allow a statistical basis for comparison to be developed.

  • Patent number: 10749901
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention disclosed herein provide techniques for associating a firewall policy with a dynamic domain name system (DNS) hostname. A policy configuration portal transmits a first request to a names server to translate a first hostname into a corresponding network address. The policy configuration portal receives a first network address from the names server in response to the first request. The policy configuration portal determines that the first network address is different than a second network address that is currently associated with the first hostname. The policy configuration portal associates the first network address with the first hostname. The policy configuration portal modifies a firewall policy configuration associated with the first hostname to include the first network address. At least one advantage of the disclosed techniques is that a firewall policy can be implemented for a residential home or small business that employs dynamic IP addressing.

  • Patent number: 10742724
Abstract: Some examples described herein relate to a cluster computer system. In an example, a first node in a cluster computer system may determine that a second node has become unavailable. The first node may form a first sub-cluster with a plurality of nodes that are communicatively reachable in the cluster computer system. The first node may retain ownership over a first application running on the first node, to the exclusion of remaining nodes in the first sub-cluster, wherein retaining ownership over the first application comprises controlling access to a storage volume related to the first application. The first node may attempt to obtain ownership over a second application previously running on the second node before the second node became unavailable. In response to a successful attempt the first node may obtain ownership over the second application, to the exclusion of remaining nodes in the first sub-cluster.

  • Patent number: 10742490
Abstract: An apparatus and method of performing a configuration process in the apparatus are provided. The apparatus has a backhaul sub-node to provide a backhaul connection to a communications network which comprises a proxy system. It also has an access sub-node to provide an access cell to which user equipment can connect. In a configuration process the backhaul sub-node performs a backhaul sub-node auto-configuration process comprising connecting to a further network node, determining backhaul sub-node configuration parameters, and storing in the proxy system at least one configuration parameter for the access sub-node in dependence on the backhaul sub-node configuration parameters determined. When the access sub-node then issues an access sub-node auto-configuration request, the proxy system intercepts the access sub-node auto-configuration request and responds to the access sub-node in dependence on the at least one configuration parameter for the access sub-node stored.

  • Patent number: 10735372
Abstract: A method in a network node for handling a traffic flow of a User Equipment, UE is provided. The network node is related to a local service cloud. The traffic flow is related to an application session to be served by the local service cloud. The network node identifies (202) a UE Internet Protocol, IP, address of the UE. When the identified UE IP address is used by another UE in a first Virtual Local Area Network, VLAN, comprised in the local service cloud, the network node selects (204) a second VLAN comprised in the local service cloud for local break out of the traffic flow of the application session to the local service cloud. In the second VLAN, the identified UE IP address is not used by another UE.

Abstract: An adaptable network security system includes trust mediator agents that are coupled to each network component. Trust mediator agents continuously detect changes in the security characteristics of the network and communicate the detected security characteristics to a trust mediator. Based on the security characteristics received from the trust mediator agents, the trust mediator adjusts security safeguards to maintain an acceptable level of security. Trust mediator also uses predetermined rules in determining whether to adjust security safeguards. Despite inevitable changes in security characteristics, an acceptable level of security and efficient network operation are achieved without subjecting users of the network to over burdensome security safeguards.
