Multiple Network Interconnecting Patents (Class 709/249)
  • Patent number: 8774200
Abstract: Multiple switch planes, each having meshed bufferless switch units, connect source nodes to sink nodes to form a communications network. Each directed pair of source and sink nodes has a first-order path traversing a single switch unit in a corresponding switch plane and multiple second-order paths each traversing two switch units in one of the remaining switch planes. To reduce processing effort and minimize requisite switching hardware, connectivity patterns of source nodes and sink nodes to the switch planes are selected so that each pair of source node and sink node connects only once to a common switch unit. Widely-varying flow rates may be allocated from each source node to the sink nodes. To handle frequent changes of flow-rate allocations, in order to follow variations of traffic distribution, a high-throughput scheduling system employing coordinated multiple scheduler units is provided in each switch plane.

Abstract: For establishing a VPN connection in the call-back type, a VPN server establishes an always-on connection through a unique protocol different from the electronic mail delivery system. A client generates a client authentication data used for the client authentication implemented by the VPN server, and establishes the relay server through the unique protocol to transmit the client authentication data. The relay server device relays the client authentication data to the VPN server through the unique protocol. The VPN server implements the client authentication based on the relayed data. The VPN server establishes the VPN connection with the client based on the result of the authentication.

  • Patent number: 8769156
Abstract: The present disclosure presents systems and methods for maintaining original source and destination IP addresses of a request while performing intermediary cache redirection. An intermediary receives a request from a client destined to a server identifying a client IP address as a source IP address and a server IP address as a destination IP address. The intermediary transmits the request to a cache server, the request maintaining original IP addresses and identifying a MAC address of the cache server as the destination MAC address. The intermediary receives the request from the cache server responsive to a cache miss, the received request maintaining the original source and destination IP addresses. The intermediary identifying that the third request is coming from the cache server via one or more data link layer properties of the third transport layer connection.

  • Patent number: 8761050
Abstract: A network integration system/method allowing computer network functionality in a coordinated/concerted fashion in network configurations that are local to and/or spanning network gateway routers is disclosed. The system utilizes a Smart Gateway Power Controller (SGPC) to interact within a home automation network (HAN) to permit the local HAN to operate as a distinct network but still permit access to/from remote networks such as the Internet. The system permits inter-networking of HAN devices (including SGPCs) and device interaction as a group with consumers within a man-machine “social network,” where information is pushed/pulled just as with a conventional social network. The system/method allows HAN device setup/action/monitoring wherein HAN devices host a number of user interfaces supported locally and externally to web interfaces/networks, these interfaces supporting local/remote access devices including mobile phones, tablet computers, laptops, desktop computers, and the like.

  • Patent number: 8755380
Abstract: An imporved method and apparatus for making forwarding decisions in a switching device. The invention reduces the flooding of frames to particular network segments connected to the switch. To insure a device sees a frame addressed to it, if a switch does not know what segment a device address is connected to for a unicast frame, the switch typically floods the frame to all segments in the broadcast domain. This invention allows segments to be identified as having a predefined maximum number of device addresses that will be associated with it. When that number of addresses is already in the forwarding table the switch will not flood unicast frames to that segment since no more devices should be connected to that segment.

  • Patent number: 8750183
Abstract: A mobile device-to-HTTP protocol gateway (MHG) which translates between Wireless Mobile Originated commands from an SMSC, and an application server on the Internet. A wireless Internet gateway establishes communications with one or more relevant SMSCs using standard format SMPP commands, and the MHG utilizes HTTP protocol POST messages to post short messages originated at the mobile device to a particular URL. Return results are received by the MHG via HTTP protocol messages, translated to SMPP messages, and forwarded back to the SMSC for delivery to the mobile device. The wireless Internet Gateway communicates with the MHG using RMI protocol commands. An MHG in the present invention enables a developer to create mobile applications using standard web development tools. The MHG allows standard format command messages to be used throughout the pathway between a mobile device and an application program on a web IP server at a particular URL.

Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support a hybrid solution that utilizes a centralized communication server as the main mechanism for communication between two clients (endpoints), but augments the server-based communication with an optional direct connection between the two clients whenever available while hiding the complexities and time spent dealing with the direct connection from the clients. The switch of the communication mode between the clients is kept transparent to them during their communication session without causing any inconvenience and/or disruption of the communication. When a direct endpoint to endpoint connection is not available the approach preserves the advantages of connecting through the intermediate communication server.

  • Patent number: 8682321
Abstract: A mobile IP location server that retrieves the location of a mobile device based on the public IP address that a mobile device is using. A mobile IP location server comprises a mobile location protocol interface, an identifier resolver, and a location manager. The mobile location protocol interface interacts with location applications and receives and responds to location requests. The identifier resolver converts a device's public IP address to a real mobile identifier (e.g. MSISDN) and performs address conversion by either interacting with an HTTP proxy server or querying a network address translation (NAT) table. The location manager retrieves the location of a mobile device given the device's real mobile identifier (e.g. MSISDN). A web application requests mobile IP location services by transmitting an IP request to the mobile IP location server. An IP location request contains a mobile device's public IP address, port number, and any application specific information.

  • Patent number: 8671186
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to analyze a problem spanning multiple domains. A management apparatus stores an analysis rule. The analysis rule defines a relationship between a causal event, which constitutes a cause of a problem, and multiple relevant events, which denote problems created by the causal event. A first management apparatus acquires a relevant event related to a prescribed node apparatus, which is not under management of the first management apparatus, from a second management apparatus, which manages the prescribed node apparatus. The first management apparatus analyzes a problem by applying the relevant event acquired from the second management apparatus and another relevant event related to a node apparatus under the management of the first management apparatus to the analysis rule.

  • Patent number: 8667170
Abstract: The conventional address translation techniques cannot allow multiple terminal devices to be accessed by using one identical port number because they can associates one port number with only one device if the terminals do not support encapsulation. According to the present invention, access from a global network to a private network is restricted in accordance with an access control rule established for each device or network sending a packet. Furthermore, address translation is performed in accordance with address translation rules established on a per sending device basis to provide communication between a global network and a private network. When a connection request is received from the global network and if authentication of the connection request is successful, an access control rule is established on a per sending device basis or on a per sending network basis and recorded. After the communication ends, the added access control rule and address translation rule are deleted.
