Patent number: 8990447Abstract: One or more out-of-band input signals (GPIO) are handled and efficiently embedded into a USB capture stream. In order to conserve resources, the state of the input signals can be sent only when a change occurs. The signals are accurately time-stamped, and then presented within the context of the captured USB data. In order to provide maximum visibility, if the digital inputs occur during a normally filtered multi-packet sequence, the filter is canceled and the surrounding packets will also be sent to an analysis computer. Furthermore, because digital inputs may happen during a USB packet, the digital inputs are queued in a FIFO buffer until there is an opportunity to send the digital inputs. Even though the state of the inputs may be sent at a later time, the state of the inputs may be time-stamped when the state of the inputs is perceived by the analyzer.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2009Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Total Phase, Inc.Inventors: Kumaran Santhanam, Gopal Santhanam, Etai Bruhis

Patent number: 8984175Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a multipathing connection to a storage volume, where in one embodiment, the invention prohibits the disk driver from reading the storage parameter information (e.g., table of contents) upon initialization. The method commences with a multipathing disk driver determining at least on active port and at least on passive port for the storage volume. The disk driver then sends a request via the active port to the storage volume for the storage parameter information that is contained in the disk array. After the host computer's operating system disk driver receives the storage parameter information, it copies the information and distributes the information to the port definitions for the passive ports. Consequently, the ports are defined without causing a failover within the storage volume.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2004Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Symantec Operating CorporationInventors: Shiv Rajpal, Ajay P. Patent number: 8924596Abstract: A shared counter resource, such as a register, is disclosed in the hardware, where the register representing how much free space there is in the command queue is accessible to one or more processing elements. When a processing element reads the “reservation” register, the hardware automatically decrements the available free space by a preconfigured amount (e.g., 1) and returns the value of the free space immediately prior to the read/reservation. If the read returns 0 (or a number less than the preconfigured amount), there was insufficient free space to satisfy the request. In the event there was insufficient space to satisfy the request the reservation register may be configured to reserve however much space was available or to not reserve any space at all. Any number of processing elements may read these registers and various scenarios are described where the input and output queues are accessible via various processing elements.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2013Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Concurrent Ventures, LLCInventors: Jesse D.
