Patent number: 8250263Abstract: Security for a USB device is conducted in a protection mode for USB data by hooking an import table of a USB bus class driver, identifying a target IRP, into which the USB data to be protected is inputted, during the hooking routine, and intercepting a real USB data from the IRP. Therefore, input/output data of every USB devices, including a USB keyboard, can be protected in a USB bus class driver level to which a USB input/output request packet is transferred for the first time, thereby protecting the input/output data of the USB devices more safely and basically.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2009Date of Patent: August 21, 2012Assignee: AHNLAB., Inc.Inventors: Jong Hyun Kim, Jeom Gab Kim

Patent number: 8244940Abstract: A peripheral device of the invention is capable of data communication with a host device via one of a first-type interface and a second-type interface having different data communication-related specifications. The peripheral device has a single connector for making electric connection selectively with a first-type connector or a second-type connector. The peripheral device also has a controller for performing an initial connection process that makes a logical connection between the peripheral device and the host device via the first-type interface or the second-type interface. While the physical connection is maintained, the controller breaks the logical connection established by the initial connection process and subsequently makes another logical connection between the peripheral device and the host device.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2011Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Assignee: Buffalo Inc.Inventors: Suguru Ishii, Tsukasa Ito, Kenji Kato

Patent number: 8234482Abstract: A subprocessor is used to interface between subsystems and to reduce the amount of dedicated hardware used to implement the subsystems in a hand-held computer. The subprocessor includes basic processing system resources such as random-access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), a processor, input/output (I/O) facilities, etc. Selected functions in subsystems are achieved by firmware instructions executed by the subprocessor as opposed to a main processor that is also used in the computer. This approach can provide efficiencies such as low power consumption, less required space, less routing overhead, easier transfer of inter-subsystem information, and other advantages.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2005Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Google Inc.Inventor: Robert Kelley

Patent number: 8200862Abstract: A flash-card reader improves transmission efficiency by using bulk streaming of multiple pipes. A bulk data-out pipe carries host write data to the card reader and can operate in parallel with a bulk data-in pipe that carries host read data that was read from a flash card attached to the card reader. Status packets do not block data packets since the he status packets are buffered through a separate status pipe, and commands are buffered through a command pipe. Flash data from multiple flash cards are interleaved as separate endpoints that share the bulk data-in pipe. A data in/out streaming state machine controls streaming bulk data through the bulk data-in and data-out pipes, while a status streaming state machine controls streaming status packets through the status pipe. Transaction overhead is reduced using bulk streaming where packets for several commands are combined into the same bulk streams.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2010Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Super Talent Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Charles C.
