Patent number: 8615621Abstract: An Accelerated Storage Controller (ASC) in an electronic device allows both conventional (slower) application processor to memory interfaces to be employed transparently to existing software, while also allowing software configuration to realize an accelerated storage architecture on demand. Some use cases for the electronic device do not require accelerated storage, and a bypass mode does not require any modification to existing software. Other use cases (such as fast download of multiple gigabytes of media) benefit from an accelerated storage architecture offloading transfer from the electronic device application processor, but could also work with the traditional processor to memory interface, at the cost of slower downloads. Embodiments of the present invention provide for both these possibilities in a software-configurable architecture. Furthermore, a number of other connectivity options are provided under software control to optimize performance and connectivity for different use case scenarios.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2010Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: ST-Ericsson SAInventors: Han van Holder, Charles Razzell, Lixin Liang, Chee Ee Lee, Jerome Tjia, Marcel van Roosmalen

The memory module has a first number of ranks of double-data-rate (DDR) memory circuits activated by a first number of chip-select signals. The circuit is configurable to receive a set of signals comprising address signals and a second number of chip-select signals smaller than the first number of chip-select signals. The circuit is further configurable to generate phase-locked clock signals, to selectively isolate a load of at least one rank of the first number of ranks from the computer system in response at least in part to the set of signals, and to generate the first number of chip-select signals in response at least in part to the phase-locked clock signals, the address signals, and the second number of chip-select signals.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2011Date of Patent: August 20, 2013Assignee: Netlist, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey C. Patent number: 8510525Abstract: A method of duplicating data to multiple random accessible storage devices has steps of reading one segment of source data having multiple segments, continuously detecting newly-connected random accessible storage devices, duplicating same segments to all connected random accessible storage devices, stopping duplicating the source data to any random accessible storage device that has stored all segments of the source data and repeating the steps from the beginning. When duplicating the source data to all connected random accessible storage devices, same segments of the source data are written to all connected random accessible storage devices. Therefore, a single writing task is proceeded in each writing session. The source data can be written to all random accessible storage devices at high speed. Consequently, efficiency of asynchronously duplicating data to multiple random accessible storage devices is increased.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2009Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Vinpower Inc.Inventors: Shuo-Wei Chang, Liao-Hsuan Kuo

Patent number: 8510532Abstract: A method for making memory more reliable involves accessing data stored in a removable storage device by translating a logical memory address provided by a host digital device to a physical memory address in the device. A logical memory address is received from the host digital device. The logical memory address corresponds to a location of data stored on the removable storage device. A physical memory address corresponding to the local address is determined by accessing a lookup table corresponding to the logical zone.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2012Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Imation Corp.Inventor: Arunprasad Ramiya Mothilal
