Transmission Data Record (e.g., For Retransmission) Patents (Class 714/18)
  • Patent number: 7007199
Abstract: A transmitter redundantly transmits data in an available band range when transmitting data. A receiver discards redundancy and receives the data. The receiver also redundantly transmits ack in an available band range. Since data is redundantly transmitted/received, there is a high possibility that data may reach the opposite party normally even if one of the duplicate data is lost. Accordingly, high-speed communication can be realized. Since time no data flows through a communication route is reduced, network resources can be effectively utilized.

  • Patent number: 6965571
Abstract: A method is provided for the precise reporting of errors in a flow of successive messages. The method includes detecting a transmission error in a message and then deferring the reporting of the transmission error. The method defers the reporting of the transmission error by saving a sequence number for the message and by setting a deferred error flag in a state saved for the flow. The method processes the deferred transmission error when it receives an acknowledgement that completes an immediately preceding message in the flow. When a positive acknowledgement is received, the deferred transmission error is reported. When a negative acknowledgement is received, the deferred transmission error is ignored and a remote error is reported.

  • Patent number: 6931569
Abstract: A base station, mobile station, and/or other terminal device includes physical layer (layer 1) protocol and link layer (layer 2) protocol that both include automatic retransmission request (ARQ) operations. The physical layer and link layer include enhancements that interact with one another to cause the link layer to inhibit ARQ operations while error recovery operations are pending at the physical layer. A transmitter packages link layer packet data units into physical layer frames and transmits the physical layer frames. A receiver responds to indicate either successful or unsuccessful transmission. The transmitting physical layer waits for the response and initiates error recovery operations when required. The receiving link layer, when it detects lost data packets, inhibits its ARQ operations to allow physical layer error recovery operations to complete.

  • Patent number: 6724896
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing event-driven data transfer operations over a global computer network. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) format data is extracted from a database stored on a first computer system connected to a global computer network. The transaction data extracted from the database is then monitored to determine whether the data is ready to be transmitted to a second computer system connected to the global computer network. When ready, the transaction data is transmitted to the second computer system. The second computer system, in turn, receives the transaction data, monitors the data to determine whether the data is ready to be merged into a database stored on the second computer system, and merges the data into the database. Embodiments of the invention allow for secure data transfer operations to be performed on-line and in real-time.

Abstract: When program data is downloaded through a broadcast wave, the program is prevented from being kept incomplete due to degradation of a reception state. When new program information is detected, a C/N value is observed. It is determined whether the observed C/N value is a specified value or more. If the C/N value is the specified value or more, a program for download control is executed. It is determined whether the download process is ended. The download process is executed until the download process is ended. Since the download process is executed after it is confirmed that the C/N is preferable, a risk that the downloading is interrupted due to degradation of the reception state in the middle of the download process can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6701455
Abstract: A storage system is provided which preserves data integrity, even when communications line, or similar, errors arise between the local disk system and the remote disk system. When there is no communication line error between the local disk system and the remote disk system, the local disk system sends a time stamp or the write order information with the write data to the remote disk system. This enables the remote disk system to make a copy with data integrity on the disk unit in the remote disk system itself. If there is a communication line error, the remote disk system allocates an empty disk unit and makes a copy with data integrity on the allocated disk unit after the communication line error between the local disk system and the remote disk system is detected.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving video data arranged in data frames forming a data stream. Each frame has assigned a priority level. Once a data frame has been transmitted through an unreliable channel and has not been received at the receiver, the priority level of the missing data frame is compared with a priority threshold value, and is then retransmitted if its priority level is greater than the priority threshold value. The retransmission decision is performed either at the transmitting or at the receiving side. According to a preferred embodiment, the priority level of any data frame to be transmitted is compared with the threshold value. The priority decision may involve the calculation of the priority threshold value based on a measurement of the available channel bandwidths and eventually on the bit rate of previously sent frames. The retransmission decision further may include an estimation of the arrival time of the data frame to be retransmitted.

Abstract: Methods and systems for streaming data in a network. Whether the network is experiencing high packet loss may be determined by a rate control module. If high packet loss is experienced, data is encoded into multiple streams by a coder using temporal domain partitioning. If high packet loss is not experienced, then data may is encoded by using frequency domain partitioning. Unequal error protection is applied to each of the streams so more important bit planes in a bit of a stream are provided with more error protection than less important bit planes. The streams are transmitted along, respectively, independent paths to a decoder. The streams are decoded, and errors in the decoded streams are corrected by using information from one or more of the other decoded streams. The decoded corrected streams are reconstructed into the data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for spreading and concentrating information to constant-weight encode data words on a parallel data line bus while allowing communication of information across sub-word paths. In one embodiment, data transfer rates previously obtained only with differential architectures are achieved by only a small increase in line count above single ended architectures. For example, an 18-bit data word requires 22 encoded data lines for transmission, where previously, 16 and 32 lines would be required to transmit un-coded data with single-ended and differential architectures respectively. Constant-weight parallel encoding maintains constant current in the parallel-encoded data lines and the high and low potential driver circuits for the signal lines.

  • Patent number: 6631479
Abstract: A data processing system including first and second data processing devices communicating in a non-contact manner. The first data processing device divides the data into a plurality of data groups and sequentially transmits the data groups to the second data processing device. The second data processing device receives the input data and power from the first data processing unit and processes the input data. A detection control device of the second data processor detects whether the processing of the present data group is successful. If the processing of the present data group is successful, the second data processing device stores the processing result for the present data group in a memory device and transmits a signal to the first data processing device indicating that the processing is successful. The first data processing device then transmits the next data group and the second data processing device continues to process the next data group.

Abstract: In a multiprocessor computer system with multiple nodes, a static end to end retry apparatus and method uses the concept of sequence numbers combined with a path number. All transactions sent along a path are delivered in order to remove any time dependency. The apparatus and method ensure there are no duplicate transactions through the use of special probe and plunge transactions and their respective responses. The apparatus and method also allow for any number of alternate paths being active simultaneously, such that if one path fails, the remaining alternate paths can continue on the communication (along with the backup alternate path if desired) as usual without any loss of transactions. Each node keeps track of transactions the node has sent over time to every other node, as well as every transaction the node has received from every other node along each active path for each flow control class. To accomplish this tracking function, two data structures exist.
