  • Patent number: 8117486
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting one or more anomalous devices are disclosed. For each of a plurality of devices, semi-structured data may be received from the device. For each pair of devices, of the plurality of devices, a similarity measurement may be determined between semi-structured data from a first device of the pair of devices and semi-structured data from a second device of the pair of devices. One or more anomalous devices may then be identified and one or more remedial actions may be performed for the one or more identified anomalous devices.

  • Patent number: 8108711
Abstract: Communication symmetry is leveraged to facilitate testing of network services. To identify, isolate, understand, and resolve problems a test client is employed. In accordance with one aspect, a service can be provided for execution on a service consumer while the test client resides on a service provider. Roles are reversed to provide more testing freedom on the provider side and less intrusion on the consumer side. Additionally or alternatively, a service and/or test client can be shipped to consumers to aid testing in a real execution environment.

  • Patent number: 8091083
Abstract: A communicator is adapted to perform communications with an external apparatus. A rewritable memory stores a control program configured to control an operation of the electronic apparatus, and a first communication program. An unrewritable memory stores a second communication program. A first inspector is operable to judge whether the control program is normal. A second inspector is operable to judge whether the first communication program is normal. A first downloader is operable to download the control program from the external apparatus by way of the communicator under the control of the first communication program, in a case where the first inspector judges the control program is not normal and the second inspector judges the first communication program is normal.

  • Patent number: 8074222
Abstract: In a job management device: a request reception unit stores job-input information in a storage device on receipt of a job-execution request; and an execution instruction unit sends to one or more job-assigned calculation nodes a job-execution instruction together with execution-resource information, and stores job-assignment information in the storage device in association with a job identifier. When the contents of the job database are lost by a restart of the job management device, a reconstruction unit collects the job-input information and the job-assignment information from the storage device, collects the execution-resource information from the one or more job-assigned calculation nodes, and reconstructs the job information in the job database.

  • Patent number: 8031620
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for real time simultaneous monitoring of logical circuits. In accordance with an example method, first status information is requested for a first logical connection at a host end of a logical circuit comprising the first logical connection. The logical circuit connects a host device to a remote device and traverses a first local access and transport area, an inter-exchange carrier, and a second local access and transport area. The first local access and transport area is at the host end of the logical circuit, and the second local access and transport area is at a remote end of the logical circuit. A logical identifier of the logical circuit is identified based on the first status information. A second logical connection at the remote end of the logical circuit is identified based on the logical identifier of the logical circuit. Second status information for the second logical connection is requested after identifying the second logical connection.

  • Patent number: 8015430
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer accessible medium stores a plurality of instructions including instructions which, when executed: track dependencies among a plurality of assets; and responsive to an identification of an asset for potential recovery (the “selected asset”), identify an asset dependency set corresponding to the selected asset. The asset dependency set comprises at least a subset of the plurality of assets, wherein each asset in the subset has a dependency with the selected asset. In some embodiments, one or more of the following may be provided: tracking asset dependencies and presenting the asset dependency set to the user; pruning the asset dependency set to a recovery set identifying the asset dependency set; generating the recovery order (optionally optimized); initiating the recovery according to the recovery order; performing recovery steps; generating the recovery plan and/or executing recovery plans.

  • Patent number: 8004962
Abstract: A method can be used to detect a problem, isolate the cause of the problem to a particular device in which the cause resides, and potentially repairing the particular device. In one embodiment, the method can be fully automated using a system. In another embodiment, the method may be partly automated. In this particular embodiment, the system can perform most or all of the testing or diagnosis automatically. The system can perform the method until a point where human intervention is required. The problem, the cause, and particular device may be known at the time notification is sent to customer care, a workcenter, or another network operations center. With the information regarding the problem, cause and particular device, a technician or other personnel can be dispatched and repair the problem more quickly than if only the problem is provided and the technician needs to perform the testing and diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 8006124
Abstract: Provided are a large-scale cluster monitoring system and a method for automatically building/restoring the same, which can automatically build a large-scale monitoring system and can automatically build a monitoring environment when a failure occurs in nodes. The large-scale cluster monitoring system includes a CM server, a BD server, GM nodes, NA nodes, and a DB agent. The CM server manages nodes in a large-scale cluster system. The DB server stores monitoring information that is state information of nodes in groups. The GM nodes respectively collect the monitoring information that is the state information of the nodes in the corresponding groups to store the collected monitoring information in the DB server. The NA nodes access the CM server to obtain GM node information and respectively collect the state information of the nodes in the corresponding groups to transfer the collected state information to the corresponding GM nodes.

  • Publication number: 20110191623
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting control data in a telecommunication network for controlling a service administered by the telecommunication network, especially a server connected to the telecommunication network. According to said method, the telecommunication network provides a data object, especially a contact of an address book, with a function that is special with respect to other data objects. A parameterized message is transmitted by the terminal device for telecommunication via the telecommunication network to a higher order system component of the telecommunication network, said message comprising at least one first parameter for characterizing the data object and a second parameter containing a control information, especially for the activation, deactivation or modification of the service. The higher order system component checks at least one of parameters and the service is controlled depending on the result of the check and in accordance with the control parameter.

  • Publication number: 20110173489
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for controlling failure recovery of Ethernet loop protection and an Ethernet loop node. The method comprises: when a node adjacent to a failed link detects recovery of the link, blocking a port just recovered, setting the port to be in a pre-forwarding state and starting a timer, and releasing the port temporarily blocked if the node adjacent to the failed link has not received a control protocol message sent by a master node during a timing period of the timer, and transferring the port from the pre-forwarding state to a forwarding state. The present invention allows a port of a node adjacent to a recovered link to enter into a forwarding state from the pre-forwarding state as early as possible on the premise that a corresponding control protocol message is unable to be received in time.

  • Publication number: 20110060939
Abstract: Application-level replication, the synchronization of data updates within a cluster of application servers, may be provided by having application servers themselves synchronize all updates to multiple redundant databases, precluding the need for database-level replication. This may be accomplished by first sending a set of database modifications requested by the transaction to a first database. Then a message may be placed in one or more message queues, the message indicating the objects inserted, updated, or deleted in the transaction. Then a commit command may be sent to the first database. The set of database modifications and a commit command may then be sent to a second database. This allows for transparent synchronization of the databases and quick recovery from a database failure, while imposing little performance or network overhead.
