  • Patent number: 10897462
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a computing system. The methods comprise: obtaining, by a first computing device, an original Security Identifier (“SID”); transforming, by the first computing device, the original SID into a composite SID by modifying the original SID to include at least (a) an SID format value indicating a structural format of an SID and (b) a pointer specifying a memory location at which non-SID authentication information is stored or a customer number indicating an entity to which a user is associated; and using the composite SID by the first computing device during SID based operation.

Abstract: A method, computer readable medium, and system independently managing network applications within a network traffic management device communicating with networked clients and servers include monitoring with a network device a plurality of applications communicating over a plurality of direct memory access (DMA) channels established across a bus. The network device receives a request from a first application communicating over a first DMA channel in the plurality of DMA channels to restart the first DMA channel. In response to the request, the first DMA channel is disabled with the network device while allowing other executing applications in the plurality of applications to continue to communicate over other DMA channels in the plurality of DMA channels. A state of the first DMA channel is cleared independently from other DMA channels in the plurality of DMA channels, and communications for the first application over the first DMA channel are resumed with the network device.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for determining the end of life condition for a replaceable unit, which may be associated with a multifunction device, and have a useful life expectancy based upon a number of operations. A counter associated with the multifunction device maintains a running count of operations for the unit. Once the number of performed operations of the replaceable unit reaches a given percentage of the expected life of that unit, an analysis is performed on a running history of the fault codes. Once the number of fault codes attributable to any given replaceable unit meets or exceeds a predetermined level, such as a percentage of the running history, a notification is generated indicating a need to replace the replaceable unit.

Abstract: When data containing an unrecoverable error is received, instead of discarding the data, a lower protocol layer delivers the data to a higher protocol layer along with an indication that the data contains an error. The higher protocol layer parses the data to recover portions that are not affected by the error. Additionally, the higher protocol layer can choose to accept the data if certain acceptance criteria are met.

Abstract: A service is used to process files. The processing of the files is performed by worker services that are assigned to process a portion of the files. Each worker service that is processing a portion of the files is assigned a unique identifier. Using the identifier information, the set of worker services currently active are monitored along with the work assigned to each process. When a worker server determines that a worker service has failed, the work assigned to the failed worker service can be automatically determined and a new worker service can be started to process that work. Any new worker service that is started is assigned a unique identifier, so the work assigned to it can be similarly tracked.

Abstract: Provided are a Physical Uplink Shared CHannel (PUSCH) encoder and an encoding method of the same. The PUSCH encoder includes a plurality of encoding units and a channel interleaving unit interleaving the data transferred from the plurality of encoding units. Herein, the respective encoding units perform encoding operations on different data. The PUSCH encoder is configured to perform the respective encoding operations in parallel. In accordance with the PUSCH encoder and the encoding method thereof, the encoding operations are performed on different data in parallel to reduce latency, leading to an increase in processing speed of a codec system. Furthermore, the increase in processing speed of the codec system results in the improvement of performance and throughput per unit hour in a data communication system.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for supporting system initiated checkpoints in high performance parallel computing systems and storing of checkpoint data to a non-volatile memory storage device. The system and method generates selective control signals to perform checkpointing of system related data in presence of messaging activity associated with a user application running at the node. The checkpointing is initiated by the system such that checkpoint data of a plurality of network nodes may be obtained even in the presence of user applications running on highly parallel computers that include ongoing user messaging activity. In one embodiment, the non-volatile memory is a pluggable flash memory card.

  • Publication number: 20110173506
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for managing storage system resources in a storage area network (SAN). A target data storage server registers itself within a storage area network (SAN) fabric to receive a Registered State Change Notification (RSCN) should a SCSI initiator become inactive. A SCSI initiator then requests reservation of a target LUN. In response, the target data server reserves the LUN for use by the SCSI initiator. If a RSCN is received by the target data storage server, then a GID_PN server request, which comprises the unique identifier of SCSI initiator, is generated after a predetermined time interval and a SAN fabric name server. If the name server's response to the GID_PN server request is positive, then the SCSI initiator was detected as being active and the target data storage server keeps the reservation for the LUN active for the SCSI initiator. Otherwise, the reservation for the LUN is released for use by other SCSI initiators.

Abstract: A technique protects, in a communications network, a point-to-multipoint primary tree between a root node and primary leaf nodes of the network if a failure occurs affecting one of the primary leaf nodes. One network node receives from another upstream network node a request to protect the primary tree via a backup branch leading to a backup leaf node situated downstream from said node, if a failure affecting one of the primary leaf nodes to be protected occurs, the backup leaf node being associated with the primary leaf node to be protected. If the node is connected directly to the downstream primary leaf node to be protected, it configures a backup routing rule for routing packets from an upstream primary branch to the downstream backup branch and, possibly, to the downstream primary branch(es) and is activated in the event of a failure affecting the primary leaf node to be protected.

  • Publication number: 20090049332
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions are provided for expressing high availability (H/A) cluster demand based on probability of breach. When a failover occurs in the H/A cluster, event messages are sent to a provisioning manager server. The mechanism of embodiments of the present invention filters the event messages and translates the events into probability of breach data. The mechanism then updates the data model of the provision manager server and makes a recommendation to the provisioning manager server as to whether reprovisioning of new node should be performed. The provisioning manager server makes the decision and either reprovisions new nodes to the H/A cluster or notifies the administrator of detected poisoning problem.
