  • Patent number: 8935287
Abstract: Extensive databases of well-annotated reports are important knowledge sources in medical workflows, such as in radiology. These are typically accessed by the healthcare professional looking for reports similar to a current case being evaluated. However, filling and maintaining such databases requires considerable effort. A system is provided for storing a candidate report, comprising a searcher configured to retrieve one or more queries from a query database; to retrieve the candidate report from a user input; to execute the one or more queries on the candidate report to determine the relevance of the candidate report, and to store the candidate report in the report database if the relevance exceeds a predetermined value. This provides a check, prior to storing, to evaluate whether a candidate report would actually be a worthwhile addition to the database. If not, it is by default not added.

One or more layers, including a transparent layer, at least partially located over the multimedia object displayed on the web page are generated wherein the one or more layers are configured to facilitate the creation and display of annotation data for the multimedia object based on user interface events produced by a user of the client computer system. Annotation data for the multimedia object is received from the user. The annotation data is transmitted to an annotation server for storage. A visual indicator indicating that the annotation data is associated with the multimedia object is displayed, wherein the visual indicator is rendered in the one or more layers.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provides a method and apparatus for composing a representative description. The method includes selecting a first query candidate (QC) from multiple query candidates (QCs), identifying a second QC from the multiple QCs, analysing overlap in content of the second QC and in content of the first QC. Each of the multiple QCs has a score. The first QC has highest score. Each of the multiple QCs is extracted from a cluster of one or more digital documents.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for displaying annotations for a multidimensional dataset at a client device is disclosed. The client device is connected to a server system through a network. The client device displays a first view of the multidimensional dataset. The first view includes a first graph over a period of time and a plurality of annotations, each annotation corresponding to a respective time segment within the period of time. Upon receiving a user selection of one of the plurality of annotations, the client device displays a second view of the multidimensional dataset. The second view includes a second graph over the period of time and the plurality of annotation. Finally, the client device highlights the user-selected annotation among the plurality of annotations and the time segment corresponding to the user-selected annotation in the second graph.

The annotation is associated with the identified portion. The annotation and its association with the identified portion is saved on an annotations server and a link is generated to an annotated webpage wherein the content for webpage is received from a content server and the annotation is received from the annotations server. The link is sharable so as to enable others to view the annotation associated with the identified portion of the content.

Abstract: The present invention discloses methods of archiving and optimizing lectures, presentations and other captured video for playback, particularly for blind and low vision individuals. A digital imaging device captures a preselected field of view that is subject to periodic change such as a whiteboard in a classroom. A sequence of frames is captured. Frames associated with additions or erasures to the whiteboard are identified. The Cartesian coordinates of the regions of these alterations within the frame are identified. When the presentation is played back, the regions that are altered are enlarged or masked to assist the low vision user. In another embodiment of the invention, the timing of the alterations segments the recorded audio into chapters so that the blind user can skip forward and backward to different sections of the presentation.

  • Patent number: 8595245
Abstract: A method for enrichment of text which enables mixed data mining includes generating a model for structured data found in tables of a database. In the model, semantically-linked terms are associated with referents, such as field names or cell content of the fields, of the structured data. The referents may be a business object or refer to a business object. A plurality of candidate referring entities in textual data in the database, such as chunks of free text, is identified. For each candidate referring entity, a similarity measure between the candidate referring entity in the textual data and the model is computed to identify referring entities of the candidate referring entities and corresponding business objects/referents to which the referring entities refer. The textual data is enriched with information derived from the business objects.
