Abstract: An image display method applied to fields, including artificial intelligence (AI) and human computer interaction, includes detecting an input operation; displaying an image selection interface on a display in response to the input operation; determining at least one image related to the input operation from a group of associated images in a local memory or a cloud storage; displaying a thumbnail of the at least one image in the image selection interface; hiding another image; detecting a first operation where the first operation selects a first thumbnail in the image selection interface; and performing, on the first thumbnail, a processing procedure corresponding to the input operation.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting, segmenting, and extracting salient regions in documents by using attention tracking sensors is provided. The method includes: receiving an image that corresponds to a document; receiving, from a sensor, a sequence of measurements that correspond to a human reading of the document; determining, based on the sequence of measurements, at least one region of the document as being a salient document region; demarcating the salient document region in an electronically displayable manner; and outputting a file that includes a displayable version of the document with the demarcated document region. The salient document region may include a title, a section header, and/or a table. The sensor may be an eye-tracking sensor that detects a sequence of eye-gaze positions on the document as a function of time.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for performing personalized communications management. Data can be identified, collected, and/or generated to manage communications between a communications management system and user devices. The data can include individualized data associated with devices and/or users of the devices. The communications management system can identify and/or select recipients of subsequent communications based on results collected from analysis of messages transmitted using the individualized data. Recipients for transmissions of subsequent communications can be continuously redefined.

A second set of HTML code associated with the webpage is determined, where the second set of HTML code includes code corresponding to each sub-image. The second set of HTML code is transmitted to the terminal device for sequential display of each sub-image on the terminal device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for identifying an expression for a target concept, includes: obtaining a set of texts as a target set of texts, with each text being associated with one of images relevant to a target concept. Candidate expressions for the target concept are extracted from the target set of texts. The candidate expressions are characteristic of the target set of texts. Each image relevant to one of the candidate expressions is collected by using an image search engine. A target expression for the target concept is selected from the candidate expressions based on a comparison result of the target concept and the collected images.

Abstract: A system and method is presented that extracts snippets form web pages according to specially designed logic. The extracted snippets might be made relevant to, i.e., indexed by, a location and time/day applicability. Such snippets may be thought of as apps or services that are defined only when a mobile terminal is in a pre-defined geographical area at a certain time and day (e.g., as defined by a calendar of events). Extracted snippets are stored and made searchable. Methods and a system are described to control the display of snippet search results. Snippets may be selected by user or by programmed logic and executed on the mobile terminal or in remote servers without the need to download the app or source code associated with the snippet.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for streaming content is disclosed. A streamer (155) detects a cue for a break in a segment of the program content, wherein the cue includes an identification of an advertising provider associated with the break. The streamer sends, to an advertisement server (115), a request for content associated with the advertising provider, and receives, from the advertisement server, an advertisement associated with the advertising provider. Further, the streamer transcodes the advertisement based on configuration information of an additional device (165) to generate formatted content viewable on the additional device. Moreover, the streamer streams the formatted content to the additional device via the local connection.

Abstract: An online system tailors audio segments for users accessing a live audio stream such that the audio segments can be presented to users during a break of the live audio stream. The audio segment can include interactive content as well as one or both of an audio clip and a standard message, each of which serves as a type of introduction to the interactive content. For each user, the online system analyzes characteristics of the user to determine whether to include the standard message in addition to the audio clip, or to withhold the standard message from the audio segment. Therefore, different users accessing the live audio stream can be appropriately introduced to the interactive content which can improve the likelihood that the users interact with the interactive content.

Abstract: A content saliency network is a machine-learned neural network that predicts the saliency of elements of a content item. The content saliency network may be used in a method that includes determining a set of elements in a UI and computing a first context vector for the content. The method may also include, for each element in the set of elements, computing a vector of simple features for the element, the simple features being computed from attributes of the element, computing a second context vector for the element, computing a third context vector for an intermediate context of the element, and providing the vectors to the content saliency network. The content saliency network provides a saliency score for the element. The method further includes generating an element-level saliency map of the content using the respective saliency scores for the set of elements and providing the saliency map to a requestor.

Abstract: A method of ranking data visualizations is performed at a computing device having one or more processors and memory. The memory stores one or more programs for execution by the processors. A user selects a plurality of data fields from a set of data, and the computing device generates a plurality of data visualization options. Each data visualization option associates each of the user-selected data fields with a respective predefined visual specification feature. For each of the generated data visualization options, the device calculates a score based on a set of ranking criteria. A first ranking criterion of the set of ranking criteria is based on values of one or more of the user-selected data fields in the set of data. A ranked list of the data visualization options is then created, where the ranked list is ordered according to the computed scores of the data visualization options.

Abstract: Information is camouflaged to permit discreet access of the information at times when it is otherwise inappropriate to access the information. Information is camouflaged for computer device display by analyzing visual characteristics of baseline information designated to be displayed on a portion of an electronic display and causing the electronic display to display replacement information within a region of the electronic display in place of information or content that would normally be displayed within the region. The replacement information visually conforms to the visual characteristics so as to be camouflaged within other information displayed outside the region. An input/output interface may be at least intermittently displayed within a section of the region to permit a user to interact with a data stream providing the replacement information. When the input/output interface is displayed, it may also be camouflaged to conform to the visual characteristics of the baseline information.

The table comprises a plurality of rows and columns. Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for automatically generating a layout plan are described herein. The method involves invoking original layout information for digital report elements rendered on an original layout region. The optimized layout plan for rendering the digital report elements on a target layout region is generated by: classifying the digital report elements into multiple arrays of digital report elements, deriving origin values for the digital report elements as a quotient of original dimensions of the digital report elements in the corresponding array, determining dimension quotient for the digital report elements based on the derived origin values for the digital report elements in the corresponding array, and determining target layout values as a function of the derived origin values and dimension quotient. The digital report elements are rendered on the target layout region based on the optimized layout plan defined by the target layout values.

Abstract: Changes made to a document are automatically summarized within an electronic message. The changes may be made to a document that is being collaborated on. For example, the document may be an attachment to an electronic message, a link to a shared document that is contained within the electronic message and/or a document that is being shared between a different users. The document may be any type of file to which changes/comments are made, such as word processing documents, spreadsheets, slides, and the like. A reviewer may make many different types of changes to the document (e.g. deleting/adding content, adding comments, and the like). After making any changes to the document, a summary of the changes is automatically inserted into an electronic message that is then sent to one or more recipients. Live information relating to the document may also be displayed with one or more electronic messages.

Abstract: A method for managing multiple columns in a document. The method includes obtaining a text stream from the document; obtaining a current fill limit associated with an initial column of the multiple columns; placing, using a layout engine, the text stream within the multiple columns according to the current fill limit; identifying, after placing the text stream, a first fill level of a final column of the multiple columns; calculating a first difference between the current fill limit and the first fill level of the final column; calculating, in response to the first difference exceeding a tolerance, a revised fill limit based on the current fill limit; placing, using the layout engine, the text stream within the multiple columns according to the revised fill limit.

Abstract: A print job includes instructions to print markings and perform finishing operations on a first type of media. Systems and methods determine print job characteristics of the print job based on data within the print job, and select a different type of media on which banner pages will be printed (e.g., “second types of media” that is different from the first type of media used for the print job pages). The banner pages contain human and/or computer readable instructions to perform the finishing operations. The media type used for the “second type of media” is based on the print job characteristics of the print job. The print markings are printed on the first type of media, and the banner pages are printed on the second type of media.

Abstract: Selective content presentation for the purpose of self-imposed censoring of content is implemented on an electronic device. The selective content presentation involves acquiring a content suppression preference for suppressing content presentation at an electronic device. Subsequently, a content portion and a content selection tag for the content portion are also received at the electronic device. When the electronic device determines based on the content selection tag that a part of content portion is designated for suppression by the content suppression preference, the part of the content portion is obstructed by the electronic device to form a modified content portion. The modified content portion is further presented to a user via the electronic device.

Abstract: A storage medium for storing text-based subtitle data including style information, a reproducing apparatus and methods are provided for reproducing text-based subtitle data including style information separately recorded on the storage medium. The storage medium includes: multimedia image data; and text-based subtitle data for displaying subtitles on an image based on the multimedia image data, wherein the text-based subtitle data includes dialog information indicating subtitle contents to be displayed on the image, style information indicating an output style of the dialog information, and partial style information indicating an output style applied to a portion of the dialog information. Accordingly, subtitles can be provided in a plurality of languages without limited to the number of units of subtitle data. In addition, subtitle data can be easily produced and edited. Likewise, an output style of the subtitle data can be changed in a variety of ways.

Abstract: A method for displaying indicia that is to be printed on a double-sided item on a computer screen. The double-sided item has first and second surfaces. The indicia has at least one print orientation when the indicia is printed on the item's first and second surfaces, and at least one view orientation when the indicia is displayed on the computer screen, which has a vertical orientation. The method includes providing information that characterizes the indicia's print orientation, using the information to compare the print orientation to the vertical orientation; and if, as a result of the comparison, the print orientation does not match the vertical orientation, adjusting the view orientation so the view orientation matches the vertical orientation while maintaining the indicia's print orientation when the indicia is printed on the item.

Abstract: A technique is presented for making effective use of sheets when the total number of pages to be printed on a sheet is changed after the number of pages per sheet was originally specified. In one aspect, the technique is implemented on an apparatus that accepts a specified number of pages per sheet, obtains a page group having a number of pages, determines whether the number of pages in the page group has changed, changes the specified number of pages per sheet when the number of pages in the page group has changed, and generates output data of the pages with the specified number of pages when the number of pages in the page group has not been changed, and generates the changed number of pages when the number has been changed.

A number of defined text elements are available for user text entries. The product layout is based a user-selected image, if any, and on the text elements having user-supplied text content. Text elements without text content are disregarded. Positioning of user text entries is determined based on the size of the text entries, defined text element spacing distances, and defined positioning rules. Creating a layout incorporating user-supplied text entries and/or image may include cropping or resizing of other design elements in the product design and wrapping of relatively long text entries onto multiple lines.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

The e-mail pager may send information in its native format to a service that acts as an intermediary. If a web page is being accessed, the request is in HTML, and may include personal logon information. The response from the web page is also in HTML, and this information is received by the service, and salient information is taken from the HTML file. The information is reformatted, e.g. according to a template, into the e-mail pager's native format, and sent to the pager. Another embodiment describes opening multiple pages, and assembling their content into a single web page.
