Abstract: A method is performed at a server system. The server system receives from an electronic device media content information. The server matches the media content information with stored content information, and identifies a media content item based on the matching. It also identifies a genre of the media content item and one or more entities relevant to the identified media content item. The server generates one or more user-selectable elections based on the genre of the media content item. It sends to the electronic device the user-selectable elections and a plurality of affordances. Each of the affordances provides a user of the electronic device with one of the user-selectable elections corresponding to a respective entity that is relevant to the identified media content item. The server receives from the electronic device a selection of the one or more user-selectable elections, and performs an operation associated with the selection.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) includes multiple data visualizations and an adjustable graphical user control. The data underlying the data visualizations are timestamped, and the graphical user control enables a user to select a time interval. When a time interval is selected or modified via the graphical user control, the multiple data visualizations update automatically in real time to reflect data that correspond to the currently selected time interval.

In addition, the information processing apparatus (2000) executes person detection process of detecting a person in vicinity of an object (target object) detected as the stationary object for each of a plurality of video frames (14) which includes the target object. Abstract: Disclosed in embodiments of the present disclosure are a video page display method and apparatus, an electronic device and a computer-readable medium. A specific implementation of the method includes: displaying a video page, the video page including a video playback view and a dialog box, and a progress adjustment control being displayed in the dialog box, wherein the view hierarchy of the dialog box is higher than the view hierarchy of the video playback view and the remaining controls in the video page; and in response to detecting a first user operation on the progress adjustment control, adjusting the progress of a video currently being played back in the video page, and updating the progress displayed in the progress adjustment control. The described implementation achieves the reuse of a progress adjustment control between different pages.

Abstract: A graphical user interface may provide presentation of a video edit during video edit playback. The video edit may include a segment of a video. When a user modifies the segment of the video included in the video edit, the graphical user interface may automatically switch the presentation of the video edit into presentation of the original video.

Abstract: The various implementations described herein include methods, devices, and systems for clarifying media content. In one aspect, a method is performed at a client device that includes a microphone, memory, and one or more processors. The method includes: (1) receiving, via the microphone, audio content of a media content item playing on a second client device in proximity to the client device; (2) receiving, via the microphone, a verbal query from a user of the client device to clarify a portion of the media content item; (3) sending a request to a remote server system; (4) receiving from the remote server system information responsive to the verbal user query for the portion of the media content item; and (5) presenting the information to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to identify jump points indicative of potential time points from which to resume consumption of the media asset in response to receiving a request to skip a portion of a media asset being consumed. The jump points include a first jump point identified based on a content viewing profile and a second jump point identified based on a scene information associated with the media asset. A preview image is displayed at each of the identified jump points. Systems and methods are also described to pause the skipping operation at the identified jump points and provide a preview at the respective jump points. Systems and method are further described to identify jump points based on analysis of the portion of the media asset being skipped.

Abstract: Technologies for grouping images, and ranking the images and the groupings, based on entities shown in the images. Images may be grouped based on faces shown in the images. Different images with faces that indicate the same entity (e.g., Adam) may be automatically grouped together. Different images with faces that indicate the same multiple entities (e.g., the people in my family) may also be automatically grouped together. Such automatic grouping may be based on facial recognition technologies. Further, images and groups of images may be automatically ranked based on the faces shown and entities represented. Such rankings may also be influenced by adjacent data that indicates family and friends and the like, and that can be used to identify such entities in the images.

Abstract: A social photo curation system is used to automatically identify a subset of photos for an album to provide to a viewing user. The album and its photos are associated with metadata indicating information about the photos, such as individuals tagged in the photos, locations where the photos were taken, keywords or concepts associated with the photos, and the quality and variety of the photos. The social photo curation system uses this metadata to score and select the photos for a particular viewing user. The scoring and selection of photos for the album may be independent of the viewing user, or it may be customized based on the viewing user's interests and connections to other users in a social networking system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for editing multimedia content, the multimedia content comprising a demonstration of actions performed in utilizing a computer application, the computer application having an “undo” history, the method comprising the steps of: receiving an “undo” history from the computer application; detecting an indication of an action being removed from the “undo” history; adding an end marker to a timeline associated with the multimedia content at a time corresponding to such detection; adding a start marker to said timeline at a time corresponding to the action which was removed from the “undo” history; and removing a portion of the multimedia content corresponding to that located between the start marker and the end marker.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for navigating a media program is disclosed. Viewing data for segments of the media program are monitored and used to compile statistics that are presented to the user in a histogram, so that popular portions of the media program can be identified and navigated to. One embodiment includes a searchable transcript of the media program that is synchronized with the histogram.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products insert markers into recorded media modules. A pair of reference points is received that marks a position and another position in a recorded media module. A copy of the recorded media module is retrieved from memory. Portions of the copy of the recorded media module occurring before the position, and occurring after the another position, are discarded. The copy of the recorded media module occurring between the position and the another position is then presented to a user.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for editing a media record in a terminal device of a cellular network, which editing means removing at least one portion of the original contents of the media record. The state of the editing is shown on the display of the terminal device with a pointer arrangement according to the invention. The invention also relates to a cellular network terminal device in which the method is utilized. In the terminal device the media record editing is controlled with a program application according to the invention.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is described for automatically digitally transforming and editing video files to produce a finished video presentation. The method includes the steps of receiving from a user a selection of video clips to be made into the finished video presentation, automatically trimming the selected video clips, and automatically assembling the trimmed video clips into the finished presentation. Preferably, the method further comprises the steps of receiving a master video clip and automatically replacing portions of the master video clip with the trimmed video clips. In addition audio and visual effects may be added to the finished video presentation. Computer apparatus for performing these steps is also described.

Abstract: Methods, systems and/or computer program products are disclosed that help facilitate visual presentation composition. A method includes analyzing a plurality of video clips, each video clip comprising a plurality of frames, to determine a subset of the plurality of video clips that have at least one frame depicting one or more faces. The method further includes presenting, in a user interface of a video editing application, the determined subset of video clips along with indicia indicating one or more face-related characteristics of each of the subset of video clips. Furthermore, the method includes receiving, from a user of the video editing application, a selection of one or more frames of at least one of the subset of video clips to populate a shot placeholder in a movie-building template, and generating a playable media file representing a movie based at least in part on the selection received from the user.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes maintaining data representative of a recorded media content instance comprising a media content program and a first advertisement and an index file corresponding to the recorded media content instance, playing back the recorded media content instance in accordance with timestamp data and storage location data included in the index file, dynamically replacing, during the playback of the recorded media content instance, a portion of the storage location data in the index file that corresponds to the first advertisement with storage location data corresponding to a second advertisement, and presenting the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement during the playback of the recorded media content instance in accordance with the modified index file. Abstract: Described herein is technology for, among other things, selecting a representative thumbnail from a video clip. The technology involves analyzing frames of the video clip to determine which frames are stable, the result of the analysis being a number of segments of stable frames. From the stable segments, a number of candidate segments are selected, where candidate segments are those segments determined to a degree of certainty to be program content. The representative thumbnail is then selected from among the frames of the candidate segments.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a media editing application. The application places several committed media clips in a composite display area to specify a description of a composite presentation. In response to receiving a request to create a new version for a first media clip placed at a particular location in the composite display area, the application creates an audition set at the particular location in the composite display area. The application creates a second media clip from the first media clip. The application adds the first and second media clips to the audition set. At least one of the first and second media clips is a candidate media clip that is insertable at the location in the composite display area but is not a media clip that has been committed for inclusion in the description of the composite presentation.

Abstract: A content manager an indication that a branch event is to be included in a video presentation. In conjunction with the branch event, the content manager also receives a selection of a plurality of video segments to be associated with the branch event. Each video segment defines video content to be rendered during playback (e.g., by a rendering application) of the video presentation upon selection of a branch choice corresponding to that video segment. Additionally, the content manager encodes the plurality of video segments and the corresponding branch choices as a branch event in the video presentation.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of methods to automatically correct timing of recorded audio in GUI are summarized here. One or more controls to adjust resolution of timing and degree of correction for the audio are displayed. The resolution of timing relates to heats on a grid and is affected by the degree of correction. The degree of correction is mapped to a time interval at each beat along the grid. Next, a user manipulation of one or more controls selecting a resolution and a degree of correction is received. Correction of timing is performed according to the selected resolution and degree of correction. Correcting of timing may include aligning a transient of the audio to the beat by compressing or stretching a portion of the audio. Compressing or stretching the portion of the audio depends on a length of the portion relative to a distance between adjacent beats.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus for removing noise from a frame group on a timeline is provided. This image processing apparatus includes a judgment unit, a division unit, and a removal unit. The judgment unit judges whether changing points where there is a large change between adjacent frames included in the frame group appear at roughly the same interval along the timeline. The division unit, in a case where it is judged that the changing points appear at roughly the same interval, divides the frame group into a plurality of groupings along the timeline in accordance with the interval. The removal unit removes noise from the frame group in units of the groupings.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system are provided for profiling or analyzing audio data based on an audio parameter. The audio data is divided into audio data into segments. Each segment is characterized by the audio parameter in a defined range. Effects are selected according to the segments meeting criteria for the audio parameter of the effects. A media presentation is authored or generated using the selected effects.

Abstract: A method and system for designating and identifying individual programming that is available in a subscriber television system as a pay-per-view event. The identified programming includes programs that are not normally available for viewing by some subscribers or for which a subscriber has not subscribed. The programming can include an individual program, groups of programs, and non-pay-per-view channels. The subscriber can then elect to view the programming as a pay-per-view event.

Abstract: One embodiment, among others, includes a method for editing video. The method comprises receiving a plurality of media files and receiving specified special effects corresponding to each of the plurality of media files. The GUI includes an editing tool for applying an effect to each of a plurality of clips in a particular segment of the timeline. The GUI includes a user interface tool for modifying a duration of at least one segment. Different versions of the segments may be created.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for video frame marking. It is preferable that a tagged video frame is visually perceptible in the set of chronologically ordered video frames shown in the display. The selection of each video frame preferably causes playback of an excerpt of the video with a duration of the common predetermined interval. The video frame may denote a scene from a portion of the excerpt of the video, such as, for example, start, middle and end. It is advantageous that the excerpts of the video of each tagged video frame is combined using the user interface to generate a concise representation of the video. The concise representation of the video may be in a form where excerpts of the video of each of the tagged video frames are played back at a normal rate while excerpts of the video of each of other video frames are played back at an accelerated rate.

Abstract: Described is distinguishing between input mechanisms to determine which input mechanism was used to activate a start menu. A start menu is selected that corresponds to the input mechanism that was used to activate it. Further data corresponding to start menu interaction is received, and action is taken via based on the further interaction. For example, upon detecting activation of a start menu, how the start menu was activated from among activation types is used to present a first start menu/behavior for a first activation type, which may differ from a second start menu/behavior activated via a second activation type. For example, a determination may be made as to whether a start menu was invoked via a pointing device or via keyboard; when via keyboard, a search entry region may be provided, by which a user may directly enter search criteria via the keyboard.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for manipulating screen objects utilizing multiband regions of influence. Positioning a reference point of an object within a particular band invokes a particular functionality or operation related to that band. In one embodiment, three types of functionality are provided. Moving a reference datum (for example, a line representing an edge or a user defined reference point) of an object A into a first band of an object B places object A under the influence of object B's gravity, causing object A to be pulled into precise alignment with object B. Moving the reference point of object A from the first band into a second band turns off object B's gravity, allowing object A to be freely moved to any arbitrary position near the object B. Moving the reference point of the object A to a position outside all bands causes object B's gravity function to be turned back on.

Abstract: There is provided herein a system and method for producing a single audio recording from multiple recordings of the same event. In the preferred embodiment, the instant invention will automatically analyze and visually time-align each of the individual source takes, so that the takes containing the same content are positioned beneath each other. This will make it possible for the user to quickly survey, evaluate, and edit different takes of the same event. The instant invention will automatically keep track of the source material presented in by the visual display and will transfer content selected by the sound engineer from a source to a destination location to create the single audio recording.

In a second mode, the apparatus is operable to (c) process video data which have been recorded during the previous execution of the program, to allow a visualization of the execution of that program; and (d) allow a user, at any frame of the sequence of video data frames, to change the mode to the first mode and to obtain from the video data the state of the corresponding execution frame of the program.

States of one or more video switcher resources in a resource state memory may be recalled to the same or different resources, depending on resource availability at the time of memory recall. A memory recall need not affect an on air signal. The memory may be recalled to recreate a desired program output, as defined in the memory, on a preview output of the video switcher, which leaves a current program output of the video switcher undisturbed when the memory is recalled.

Methods will be provided that allow user to preview and use individual audio items that are displayed on-screen. Selection of an on-screen icon will be used to initiate playback of the associated audio file, insert that file into a playlist, incorporate that file into a multimedia work, etc.

Abstract: Embodiments that provide multi-video synthesis are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, multi-video synthesis includes breaking a main video into a plurality of main frames and break a supplementary video into a plurality of supplementary frames. The multi-video synthesis also includes assigning one or more supplementary frames into each of a plurality of states of a Hidden Markov Model (HMM), where each of the plurality of states corresponding to one or more main frames. The multi-video synthesis further includes determining optimal frames in the plurality of main frames for insertion of the plurality of supplementary frames based on the plurality of states and visual properties. The optimal frames include optimal insertion positions. The multi-video synthesis additionally includes inserting the plurality of supplementary frames into the optimal insertion positions to form a synthesized video.

Abstract: A method and system for enabling the creation of custom-choreographed multimedia content by combining content selected by a user with additional predefined content not selected by the user using an intelligent scripting and video rendering engine. The system and method reduce the user's involvement in preparing the multimedia content to simply selecting specific content the user wants to include in the final multimedia product and leaves the choreography and creation of the final product to the system and method, which intelligently script the final multimedia product based on the particular content selected by a user and/or any characteristics associated with the selected content.

Abstract: A user interface within a presentation program manages hierarchical relationships. A master view includes a thumbnail view that shows the hierarchical relationship between slide masters and layouts used within the presentation. In one example, the thumbnail view is a series of thumbnail tree-controls where each slide master is the top node of the tree control and the layouts are the children of the slide master. A user may copy, move, delete, and edit slide masters, layouts, and slides using the user interface. A contextual representation of slide master and layout commands may be shown in the same overall user interface space.

Abstract: In a client, a photo frame for which guidelines have been set at predetermined positions based on an operator's setting operation is provided as a trimming frame TF with guidelines. While the trimming frame TF with guidelines is displayed on a processing object image in an overlapping manner, the trimming frame TF with guidelines is shifted and displayed on the processing object image based on the operator's shifting operation as well as the trimming frame TF with guidelines is enlarged or contracted and displayed so as to become a similar form based on the operator's enlarging or contracting operation. The operator can thus shift and enlarge or contract the trimming frame TF with guidelines so that the guidelines set by him/herself and a target contained in the processing object image have a desirable positional relationship.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for the presentation and marking of media modules. In different aspects, the systems and methods may allow a user to present and consume a media module, particularly a media module containing data that is typically presented in a serial manner such as audio, visual, or video media, and to create a marked media module for quickly and easily returning to a marked point of interest in the media module at a later time or on a different device.
