Abstract: In a method of and system for enforcing authentication strength for remote portlets, a portlet is provided by a producer portal and consumed as remote portlet by a consumer portal. The producer portal defines an authentication strength level requirement for the portlet. A user requests the remote portlet from the consumer portal. The consumer portal authenticates the user with a particular authentication method that implies a particular authentication strength level. The producer portal authenticates the consumer portal with a particular authentication method that implies a particular authentication strength assertion level. The consumer portal requests the portlet from the producer portal with an assertion of the authentication strength level of the user. The producer portal rejects the request from the consumer portal if the authentication strength level of the user is less than the authentication strength level requirement for the portlet.

Abstract: An applet may be downloaded or provided to a web browser when a user visits a site in order to protect data input by the user from being captured by malicious software, such as key loggers. The applet may present a user input field in the web browser and may generate a random sequence of low-level key stroke or mouse click events within the input field when the user enters information, such as a username and/or password. A listening key logger will receive a large amount of random data, whereas the applet will receive and buffer the actual user data that may be communicated to a remote site access by the user.

Abstract: A method is performed by an electronic communication device. The method includes storing electronic messages, and storing criteria for determining whether a stored message is related to a current message. A current electronic message is displayed to a user of the communication device, including the current message's outside address and message body. The relevance of each of the stored messages to the current message is assessed based on the previously-stored criteria. Those messages that meet the criteria are selected and displayed along with the current message.

Abstract: A method, system or computer usable program product for securing pages that contain sensitive information including utilizing a processor to provide a user interface on a display allowing a user to select a page as password protected on a device, responsive to a user utilizing the UI to select the page as password protected, receiving a password from the user, and requiring entry of the password before displaying the page on the display.

Abstract: Provided is a method of making a graphic available to be transmitted over a communication network. Access is granted to a graphic that a sender of a first communication can select for inclusion in the first communication to be transmitted over the communication network. Selection by the sender of a restricted graphic for inclusion in the first communication is prevented. Using a computer operatively connected to the communication network, the content of the first communication entered by the sender is received, and includes the graphic available for selection by the sender. The first communication including the graphic is transmitted over the communication network. A code associated with a product is received, and the product is registered based at least in part on the code. In response to successful registration of the product, the sender is granted access to the restricted graphic, allowing the sender to select the restricted graphic for inclusion in a second communication.

Abstract: A role-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) may be provided. First, information associated with an application user may be received. A role associated the application user may be then determined. The role may then be analyzed to determine which application elements are permitted to the user and which application elements are restricted from the application user. Next, the permitted application elements may be loaded with permissible GUI elements visible and restricted GUI elements hidden. The permissible GUI elements may be associated with the application elements permitted to the application user, while the restricted GUI elements may be associated with the application elements restricted from the user.

Abstract: A presentation control system and method are provided, in which a first terminal is connected to a second terminal to control displaying of a presentation file stored in the second terminal. The first terminal controls execution of the presentation file in the second terminal, controls execution of switching between slide pages included in the presentation file in the second terminal, and controls closing of the presentation file in the second terminal.

Abstract: Improved graphical user interfaces and techniques for providing remote media content to users are disclosed. According to one aspect, an application window display on a display device can expose a user not only to local media content but also to remote media content that is associated with the local media content. The local media content is stored locally, while the remote media content is stored remotely and available from a remote media server. According to another aspect, the remote media content to be displayed can be determined in a manner that is dependent on a user interaction with the local media content. According to still a further aspect, the manner by which the remote media content is displayed can be dependent on the availability of remote media content at the remote media server.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a screen locking method and a mobile terminal, wherein the screen locking method comprises the steps that: a mobile terminal enters into a screen locked state; an interface identifier (ID) of an application interface of an application service set in the mobile terminal is obtained; the application interface indicated by the interface ID is called as a screen locked interface. By the invention, the requirements of a user for the richness and diversity of screen locked interface is satisfied, the availability and friendliness of the mobile terminal device in terms of the screen locked interface is improved and the user experience is improved.

Abstract: Various embodiments described or referenced herein are directed to different devices, methods, systems, and computer program products for displaying object record information via a user interface provided in a web browser. A request to display a user interface component may be received. The user interface component may include first stored object record information associated with a first object record in a database stored on a server. Whether the requested user interface component including the first stored object record information is open in the user interface may be determined. When it is determined that the requested user interface component is not open in the user interface, the first stored object record information may be retrieved from the server. The requested user interface component at the client machine may be generated without reloading the user interface.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for using layout objects or layers are described. In one embodiment, the method comprises accessing information in a JPM file having a plurality of layout objects and generating at least one image using the plurality of layout objects, wherein a first set of at least one of the layout objects of the plurality of layout objects in the image occludes a second set of one or more layout objects in the plurality of layout objects.

Each user profile includes user profile information. The user profile associated with a user to whom a user interface will be provided is accessed. A user interface is configured for the user, based at least in part upon the user profile accessed as being associated with the user. Access to content is enabled based on user manipulation of the configured user interface.

Abstract: Computer-storage media, methods, and systems for formatting and surfacing a badge are provided. The badge represents a graphical region presented in visual association with a search result on a web-results page. The format of the badge is initially dictated by a template that is automatically generated. Upon collecting performance information, a website owner is granted permission to alter the template and appearance of the badge, via a publisher portal. During interaction with the publisher portal, the website owner is prompted to provide feedback in order to manage parameters of the badge, such as uploading a visual representation of a logo, trademark, or other branded element, or specifying a type of metadata to be imported to the graphical region. Accordingly, the badge operates to improve a users' ability to distinguish between search results on the web-results page and assists users in confidently deciding upon and selecting a relevant search result.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for controlling presentation of sensitive information in a user interface of an application. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide for masking the sensitive information when being entered by the user. However, if the user wants to verify the entry or display the sensitive information in readable text, the information can be displayed or unmasked upon request. For example, in response to the user clicking a button or other control of the user interface associated with the sensitive information or by another mouse or keyboard event, the requested sensitive information can be unmasked and displayed in the clear, for example as a tool tip or in the originally presented element of the user interface. The user can then close the tooltip or mask the information, e.g., after verification of what he/she typed.

Abstract: A method, system, and device for controlling a mobile device with a touch screen are disclosed. According to one embodiment, the mobile terminal includes a touch screen and a controller configured to display a uniform image of a first enclosure and an unlock image of a second enclosure bounded by the uniform image of the first enclosure on the touch screen in response to detection of a contact on the touch screen while the mobile terminal is in a lock state. The controller is further configured to enlarge the unlock image of the second enclosure in accordance with movement of the contact away from an initial position of the contact while the contact on the touch screen is maintained, and to unlock the mobile terminal in response to a release of the contact when the unlock image of the second enclosure is enlarged to reach or exceed the uniform image of the first enclosure.

Abstract: A method to obtain a cloud-stored virtual desktop includes a set of user preferences, applications and shortcuts to files that a user desires to access. The method includes (A) transferring from a client device to a cloud broker a virtual desktop request comprising a user identification and a client device type identification; (B) passing the virtual desktop request to a cloud desktop agent responsible for maintenance of virtual desktops and virtual desktop metadata in the cloud storage system; (C) selecting by the cloud desktop agent a list of available virtual desktops for the user and the client device type based on a comparison with the virtual desktop metadata; (D) transferring the list of available virtual desktops to the cloud broker; and (E) forwarding the list of available virtual desktops from the cloud broker to the client device to enable the user to select a virtual desktop to be opened.

Abstract: A single user interface for a user of an identity management module is presented. The single user interface includes options for transmitting an access management instruction to a customer internal application via an on-premise proxy, and transmitting another access management instruction to a shared computing system application via a multi-customer gateway on the shared computing system. The user interface is adaptively adjusted to highlight suggested access entitlement operations based at least in part upon expected access entitlements derived from a prediction engine.

Abstract: In a touch sensitive display system that can simultaneously receive inputs from and provide outputs to users through a touch sensitive display screen and that includes an Internet browser that can provide a controlled access to the Internet, wherein the browser includes a user interface for providing browser windows and a configuration interface including configuration panels, a method for controlling a user's ability to browse the Internet using the browser in accordance with a set of rules that places restrictions on Internet sites to which the user can navigate, is provided. The method includes: providing the configuration interface to a first user for configuring the browser with a set of rules and storing the rules in the browser; providing the user interface to receive from one of the second users an Internet site address to which the second user desires to navigate after the second user logs into the system.

Abstract: A content management tool can assist publishers/authors in managing access rights and other parameters related to the display of documents online. The documents may include books and other documents that are traditionally published as printed works. The content management tool may display presentation parameters for the documents that relate to how the documents are to be shown to users when accessing the documents. The content management tool receives modifications to the presentation parameters and applies the modified versions of the presentation parameters to future accesses of the documents by users. The content management tool can, for example, be used to modify the portions of the document available for display, turn on/off certain portions of the document, manage links displayed concurrently with the document, and/or manage advertising related to the document.

The user may use multiple identities to communicate within the instant messaging system and/or with the mobile communications device or devices. The user can maintain sets of temporal periods for each of the multiple identities. Only one identity may be used at a specific time to communicate to a specific other identity, but the multiple identities of the user may be linked such that on-line presence and/or geographic location associated with one of the identities is disseminated based on the temporal periods set for one or more of the multiple identities.

The method further includes automatically selecting, by the computing device, a wallpaper from a set of two or more wallpapers, wherein each wallpaper of the set of two or more wallpapers comprises a different graphical image, wherein the wallpaper is not associated with any of the other user profiles of the computing device. The method also includes automatically associating the wallpaper with the new user profile, such that the computing device displays the wallpaper in response to an attempt to access the user profile of the computing device.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present description, in response to receiving a request from a system administrator or other user of a distributed computing system for a log report generated by the system, the system can remotely access various nodes of the system and obtain the log reports at those nodes in response to that user request. In the illustrated embodiment, such remote access and log retrieval may be undertaken whether or not the system administrator is logged into any of the reporting nodes or has direct access to the reporting nodes. As a result, obtaining pertinent log reports from various nodes of the distributed computing system may be facilitated. Other features and aspects may be realized, depending upon the particular application.

For the method, if a request for a resource initiated by the device is related to a restricted resource, then the method: redirects the request to the authentication server; initiates an authentication process at the server to request a user account and a password from the device to authenticate the device if it has not been authenticated; automatically provides the device with access to the restricted resource if the device previously had been authenticated to access the restricted resource; and provides a signal to the device indicating whether it has been authenticated to allow the device to update its graphical user interface to indicate an access status for the restricted resource. If the request relates to a non-restricted resource, then the method automatically provides the device with access to the non-restricted resource.

Abstract: An Activity Access Control (AAC) utility controls access to applications and devices by allowing an administrator to set terms of use/access regarding a applications and/or devices for a group of users, whose activity are monitored. The AAC utility also enables administrator and user access to a compromise facility via a centralized access point to establish or request changes to the terms of use/access. The AAC utility allows the administrator to dynamically update information and set terms based on real-time information collected during activity monitoring. Dynamic updates may also occur based on the monitored user's request, the priority of the requesting user(s), historical data, occurrence of a special event, completion of other internal or/external tasks, and/or pre-set limitations or thresholds. In addition, the AAC utility facilitates the real-time display or publishing of the terms of use, status information, and statistical information to users and the administrator.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for distinguishing a live actor from an automation is described. A user request to access a service is received, and, in response, the user is presented with a minority set of N objects and a majority set of >N objects. The majority set includes objects sharing at least one common attribute expected to be apparent to a human observer absent among objects associated with the minority set. The user is requested to identify at least one object, from among the objects associated with the minority or majority set, that satisfies a predetermined criterion and in response an indication of a selection of at least one object is received. Whether the user-selected object satisfies the predetermined criterion is determined and as is that the user is a human upon determining that the user-selected object satisfies the predetermined criterion.

Abstract: A method of authenticating a user of a computing device is proposed, together with computing device on which the method is implemented. In the method a modified base image is overlaid with a modified overlay image on a display and either the modified base image or modified overlay image is moved by the user. A security level requirement is assigned and positive authentication is indicated in response to the base image reference point on the modified base image being aligned with the overlay image reference point on the modified overlay image after the moving in a manner that meets the security level requirement.

Abstract: The described captive portal techniques cause client devices to render and display designated web pages. One designated web page may be different than a requested web page such as when a client is not authorized to access the requested page and is instead caused to display a login portal. The captive portal may modify the designated web page to ensure that relative links lacking base domains now have specified base domains pointing to an authorized web server. The modified content is sent from the captive portal to the client device for display. Client web browser security measures related to redirection messages are thereby bypassed and load on the captive portal is minimal. Another designated web page may be the same as the requested web page such as when the requested page is an authorized page even for non-logged in clients. Authorized pages may be modified to add a login link.

Abstract: An electronic device, such as a mobile communication device, and a method are provided for selective access to certain homescreen panels displayable by the device. The device is provided with a homescreen display, which includes a plurality of panels. The panels include at least one panel that is a fullscreen view of a first application executing on the device. This first application can be a messaging application, and the fullscreen view can be a unified inbox view for a plurality of different message types. The panels also include at least one launch panel having a number of graphical user interface elements, such as icons, representing access points to a corresponding application on the device. When navigating from one of the launch panels to the fullscreen view, an intermediate lock interface for receiving an unlocking input is displayed. The unlocking input is received before the fullscreen view is displayed.

Abstract: Methods for enhancing content objects within web pages use persistent content identification to identify content signals and associate behaviors with the content signals, such as controlling rendering of the content signals along with other information, such as advertising. One method executes within a user device and automatically inserts code within the web page to fetch remote information used in connection with rendering the content signal in a web page. Another method operates on a server and enhances a content object so that it will have certain behaviors when downloaded and presented with a web page.
